2And there was a manἀνὴρanērG435calledκαλούμενοςkaloumenosG2564by the nameὀνόματιonomatiG3686of ZaccheusΖακχαῖοςZakchaiosG2195;he was a chiefG754taxG754collectorG754and he was richπλούσιος·plousiosG4145.

3Zaccheus was tryingἐζήτειezēteiG2212to seeG3708whoτίςtisG5101JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424was, and was unableοὐκ ἠδύνατοouk ēdunatoG3756 G1410becauseἀπὸapoG575of the crowdὄχλου,ochlouG3793,for he was smallμικρὸςmikrosG3398in statureἡλικίᾳhēlikiaG2244.

4SoκαὶkaiG2532he ranπροδραμὼνprodramōnG4390on aheadἔμπροσθενemprosthenG1715and climbedἀνέβηanebēG305up into asycamoreG4809treeG4809in orderἵναinaG2443to seeG3708Him, for He was aboutἤμελλενēmellenG3195to passδιέρχεσθαι.dierchesthaiG1330throughG1330that way.

5WhenὡςhōsG5613JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424cameἦλθενēlthenG2064to the placeτόπον,toponG5117,He lookedἀναβλέψαςanablepsasG308up and saidG3004to him,“ZaccheusΖακχαῖε,ZakchaieG2195,hurryσπεύσαςspeusasG4692and comeκατάβηθι·katabēthiG2597downG2597,for todayσήμερονsēmeronG4594I mustδεῖdeiG1163stayμεῖναι.meinaiG3306at your houseοἴκῳoikōG3624.”

6And he hurriedσπεύσαςspeusasG4692and cameG2597downκατέβηkatebēG2597and receivedὑπεδέξατοhupedexatoG5264Himgladlyχαίρων.chairōnG5463.

7When they sawG3708it, they allπάντεςpantesG3956beganto grumbleδιεγόγγυζονdiegonguzonG1234,sayingλέγοντεςlegontesG3004, “He has goneεἰσῆλθενeisēlthenG1525to be the guestκαταλῦσαι.¶katalusaiG2647of a manἀνδρὶandriG435who is a sinnerἁμαρτωλῷhamartōlōG268.”

8ZaccheusΖακχαῖοςZakchaiosG2195stoppedΣταθεὶςStatheisG2476and saidG3004tothe Lordκύριον·kurionG2962, “BeholdἰδοὺidouG2400,Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,halfἡμίσιάhēmisiaG2255of my possessionsὑπαρχόντων,huparchontōnG5225Iwill giveδίδωμι·didōmiG1325to the poorπτωχοῖςptōchoisG4434,and ifεἴeiG1487I havedefraudedἐσυκοφάντησα,esukophantēsaG4811anyoneτινόςtinosG5100of anythingτιtiG5100, Iwill giveG591backG591fourG5073timesG5073as muchG5073.”

9And JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424saidG3004to him,“TodayσήμερονsēmeronG4594salvationσωτηρίαsōtēriaG4991has comeἐγένετο,egenetoG1096to thisτούτῳtoutōG3778houseοἴκῳoikōG3624,becauseκαθότιkathotiG2530he, tooκαὶkaiG2532, isa sonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of AbrahamἈβραάμAbraamG11.

10Forthe SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444has comeἦλθενēlthenG2064to seekζητῆσαιzētēsaiG2212and to saveσῶσαιsōsaiG4982that which was lostἀπολωλός.¶apolōlosG622.”
