Judges 15

Darby Bible

1And it cameH935 to pass after a time, in the daysH3117 of the wheat-harvest, that SamsonH8123 visited his wifeH802 with a kid of the goatsH5795. And he saidH559, I will goH935 in to my wifeH802 into the chamberH2315; but her fatherH1 would not suffer him to goH935 in. 2And her fatherH1 saidH559, I verily thought that thou didst utterly hateH8130 her; therefore I gaveH5414 her to thy companionH4828. IsH1961 not her youngerH6996 sisterH269 fairer than she? Let her, I pray thee, beH1961 thine instead of her. 3And SamsonH8123 saidH559 to them, This timeH6471 I am blameless toward the PhilistinesH6430, though I do them harmH7451. 4And SamsonH8123 went and caughtH3920 threeH7969 hundredH3967 jackals, and tookH3947 torchesH3940, and turnedH6437 tailH2180 to tailH2180, and putH7760 a torchH3940 in the midstH8432 between the twoH8147 tailsH2180. 5And he set the torchesH3940 on fireH784, and let [them] run into the standingH7054 corn of the PhilistinesH6430, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standingH7054 corn, and the oliveH2132 gardens. 6And the PhilistinesH6430 saidH559, Who has done this? And they answered, SamsonH8123, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he tookH3947 his wifeH802 and gaveH5414 her to his companionH4828. And the PhilistinesH6430 cameH5927 up, and burnedH8313 her and her fatherH1 with fireH784. 7And SamsonH8123 saidH559 to them, If ye actH6213 thus, for a certainty I will avengeH5358 myself on you, and then I will ceaseH2308. 8And he smote them hip and thighH3409 with a greatH1419 slaughterH4347. And he wentH3381 downH3381 and dweltH3427 in the cleftH5585 of the cliffH5553 EtamH5862. 9And the PhilistinesH6430 wentH5927 up, and encampedH2583 in JudahH3063, and spreadH5203 themselves in LehiH3896. 10And the menH376 of JudahH3063 saidH559, WhyH4100 are ye comeH5927 up against us? And they saidH559, To bindH631 SamsonH8123 are we comeH5927 up, to do to him as he has done to us. 11Then threeH7969 thousandH505 menH376 of JudahH3063 wentH3381 downH3381 to the cleftH5585 of the cliffH5553 EtamH5862, and saidH559 to SamsonH8123, Knowest thou not that the PhilistinesH6430 ruleH4910 over us? And what is this that thou hast done to us? And he saidH559 to them, As they did to me, soH3651 have I done to them. 12And they saidH559 to him, We are comeH3381 down to bindH631 thee, that we may giveH5414 thee into the handH3027 of the PhilistinesH6430. And SamsonH8123 saidH559 to them, SwearH7650 to me that ye will not fallH6293 on me yourselves. 13And they spoke to him, sayingH559, No; but we will bindH631 thee fast, and deliver thee into their handH3027; but we certainly shall not putH5414 thee to deathH4191. And they boundH631 him with twoH8147 newH2319 cordsH5688, and broughtH5927 him up from the cliffH5553. 14When he cameH935 to LehiH3896, the PhilistinesH6430 shoutedH7321 against him. And the SpiritH7307 of Jehovah cameH935 upon him, and the cordsH5688 that were on his armsH2220 becameH1961 as threads of flaxH6593 that are burnedH1197 with fireH784, and his bands loosed from off his handsH3027. 15And he foundH4672 a freshH2961 jawboneH3895 of an ass, and put forthH7971 his handH3027 and tookH3947 it, and slew with it a thousandH505 menH376. 16And SamsonH8123 saidH559, With the jawboneH3895 of an ass, a heap, two heaps, With the jawboneH3895 of an ass have I slain a thousandH505 menH376. 17And it came to pass when he had endedH3615 speakingH1696, that he castH7993 awayH7993 the jawboneH3895 out of his handH3027, and calledH7121 that placeH4725 Ramath-Lehi. 18And he was veryH3966 thirstyH6770, and calledH7121 on Jehovah, and saidH559, Thou hast givenH5414 by the handH3027 of thy servantH5650 this greatH1419 deliveranceH8668, and nowH6258 shall I dieH4191 for thirstH6772, and fallH5307 into the handH3027 of the uncircumcisedH6189? 19And 1GodH430 clave the hallow rock which was in LehiH3896, and waterH4325 cameH3318 out of it. And he drankH8354, and his spiritH7307 cameH3318 again, and he revived. ThereforeH3651 its nameH8034 was calledH7121 En-hakkore, which is in LehiH3896 to this dayH3117. 20And he judgedH8199 IsraelH3478 in the daysH3117 of the PhilistinesH6430 twentyH6242 yearsH8141.
