Judges 15
Revised Version 1895
1But it cameH935 to passH935 afterH1961 a whileH1961, in the time of wheatH2406 harvestH7105, that SamsonH8123 visitedH935 his wifeH802 with a kid; and he saidH559, I will goH935 in to my wifeH802 intoH413 the chamberH2315. But herH413 fatherH1 would notH3808 sufferH1961 him to goH935 in. 2And herH5414 fatherH1 saidH559, I verily thoughtH559 that thou hadst utterly hatedH8130 herH5414; therefore I gaveH5414 herH5414 to thy companionH4828: is notH3808 herH5414 youngerH6996 sisterH269 fairer thanH4480 sheH3588? takeH1961 herH5414, I prayH4994 thee, insteadH8478 of herH5414. 3And SamsonH8123 saidH559 unto them, This time shall I be blamelessH5352 in regardH5973 of the PhilistinesH6430, when I doH6213 them a mischief. 4And SamsonH8123 wentH413 and caughtH3920 threeH7969 hundredH3967 foxesH7776, and tookH3947 firebrands, and turnedH6437 tailH2180 to tailH2180, and putH7760 a firebrand in the midstH8432 betweenH996 everyH259 twoH8147 tailsH2180. 5And when he had setH7971 the brands on fireH784, he letH7971 them goH7971 into the standingH7054 corn of the PhilistinesH6430, and burnt upH5704 both the shocks and the standingH7054 corn, and also the oliveyards. 6Then the PhilistinesH6430 saidH559, Who hath doneH6213 this? And they saidH559, SamsonH8123, the son in law of the TimniteH8554, becauseH3588 he hath takenH3947 his wifeH802, and givenH5414 herH3947 to his companionH4828. And the PhilistinesH6430 cameH5927 upH5927, and burntH5927 herH3947 and herH3947 fatherH1 with fireH784. 7And SamsonH8123 saidH559 unto them, IfH518 ye doH6213 afterH310 this manner, surelyH3588 I will be avengedH5358 of youH3588, and afterH310 that I will ceaseH2308. 8And he smoteH5221 them hipH3409 and thighH3409 with a greatH1419 slaughterH4347: and he wentH3381 downH3381 and dweltH3427 in the cleftH5585 of the rockH5553 of EtamH5862. 9Then the PhilistinesH6430 wentH5927 upH5927, and pitchedH2583 in JudahH3063, and spreadH5203 themselves in LehiH3896. 10And the menH376 of JudahH3063 saidH559, WhyH4100 are ye comeH5927 upH5927 againstH5921 usH5921? And they saidH559, To bindH631 SamsonH8123 are weH834 comeH5927 upH5927, to doH6213 to him as he hath doneH6213 to usH5921. 11Then threeH7969 thousandH505 menH376 of JudahH3063 wentH3381 downH3381 to the cleftH5585 of the rockH5553 of EtamH5862, and saidH559 to SamsonH8123, Knowest thou notH3808 that the PhilistinesH6430 are rulersH4910 over usH413? whatH4100 then is this that thou hast doneH6213 unto usH413? And he saidH559 unto them, As they didH6213 unto meH413, soH3651 have I doneH6213 unto them. 12And they saidH559 unto him, WeH6435 are comeH3381 downH3381 to bindH631 thee, that weH6435 may deliverH5414 thee intoH3027 the handH3027 of the PhilistinesH6430. And SamsonH8123 saidH559 unto them, SwearH7650 unto meH5414, that ye will notH6435 fallH6293 uponH6293 meH5414 yourselves. 13And they spake unto him, sayingH559, NoH3808; but weH3588 will bindH631 thee fastH631, and deliverH5414 thee intoH3027 their handH3027: but surelyH3588 weH3588 will notH3808 killH4191 thee. And they boundH631 him with twoH8147 newH2319 ropesH5688, and broughtH5927 him upH5927 from the rockH5553. 14When he cameH935 unto LehiH3896, the PhilistinesH6430 shoutedH7321 as they metH7125 him: and the spiritH7307 of the LORDH3068 cameH935 mightily uponH5921 him, and the ropesH5688 that were uponH5921 his armsH2220 becameH1961 as flaxH6593 that was burnt with fireH784, and his bands droppedH4549 from offH5921 his handsH3027. 15And he foundH4672 a new jawboneH3895 of an ass, and putH7971 forthH7971 his handH3027, and tookH3947 it, and smoteH5221 a thousandH505 menH376 therewith. 16And SamsonH8123 saidH559, With the jawboneH3895 of an ass, heapsH2565 uponH2565 heapsH2565, with the jawboneH3895 of an ass have I smittenH5221 a thousandH505 menH376. 17And it cameH1961 to passH1961, when he had madeH1696 an endH3615 of speakingH1696, that he castH7993 awayH7993 the jawboneH3895 outH7993 of his handH3027; and that placeH4725 was calledH7121 Ramath-lehi. 18And he was sore athirst, and calledH7121 on the LORDH3068, and saidH559, Thou hast givenH5414 this greatH1419 deliveranceH8668 by the handH3027 of thy servantH5650: and nowH6258 shall I dieH4191 for thirstH6772, and fallH5307 intoH413 the handH3027 of the uncircumcisedH6189. 19But GodH430 clave the hollowH4388 placeH2088 that is in LehiH3896, and there cameH3318 waterH4325 thereout; and when he had drunkH8354, his spiritH7307 cameH3318 againH7725, and he revivedH7725: wherefore the nameH8034 thereof was calledH7121 En-hakkoreH5875, whichH834 is in LehiH3896, unto this dayH3117. 20And he judgedH8199 IsraelH3478 in the daysH3117 of the PhilistinesH6430 twentyH6242 yearsH8141.
