Darby Bible
1And JerubbaalH3378, who is GideonH1439, arose earlyH7925, and all the peopleH5971 that were with him, and they encampedH2583 beside the spring Harod; and he had the campH4264 of MidianH4080 on the northH6828 by the hillH1389 of MorehH4176 in the valleyH6010. 2And Jehovah saidH559 to GideonH1439, The peopleH5971 that are with thee are too manyH7227 for me to giveH5414 MidianH4080 into their handH3027, lestH6435 IsraelH3478 vaunt themselves against me, sayingH559, Mine own handH3027 hath savedH3467 me. 3And nowH6258 proclaimH7121 in the earsH241 of the peopleH5971, sayingH559, Whoever is timid and afraidH3373, let him goH7725 backH7725 and turnH7725 from mount GileadH1568. And there wentH7725 backH7725 of the peopleH5971 twenty-two thousandH505; and there remainedH7604 tenH6235 thousandH505. 4And Jehovah saidH559 to GideonH1439, StillH5750 the peopleH5971 are manyH7227; bringH3381 them downH3381 to the waterH4325, and I will try them for thee there, and it shall beH1961, that of whom I shall sayH559 unto thee, This shall goH3381 with thee, the same shall goH3381 with thee; and of whomsoever I shall sayH559 unto thee, This shall not goH3381 with thee, the same shall not goH3381. 5And he broughtH3381 down the peopleH5971 to the waterH4325; and Jehovah saidH559 to GideonH1439, Every one that lappeth of the waterH4325 with his tongueH3956, as a dogH3611 lappeth, him shalt thou setH3322 by himself; likewise every one that boweth downH3381 on his knees to drinkH8354. 6And the numberH4557 of them that lapped, with their handH3027 to their mouthH6310, wereH1961 threeH7969 hundredH3967 menH376; and all the restH3499 of the peopleH5971 bowedH3766 downH3766 on their knees to drinkH8354 waterH4325. 7And Jehovah saidH559 to GideonH1439, By the threeH7969 hundredH3967 menH376 that lapped will I saveH3467 you, and giveH5414 MidianH4080 into thy handH3027; and let all the peopleH5971 go every manH376 to his placeH4725. 8And they tookH3947 the victuals of the peopleH5971 in their handH3027, and their trumpetsH7782; and all the menH376 of IsraelH3478 he sentH7971 awayH7971, every manH376 to his tentH168, but retained the threeH7969 hundredH3967 menH376. Now the campH4264 of MidianH4080 wasH1961 beneath him in the valleyH6010. 9And it came to pass in that nightH3915, that Jehovah saidH559 to him, AriseH6965, goH3381 down to the campH4264; for I have givenH5414 it into thy handH3027. 10And if thou fearH3373 to goH3381 down, goH3381 thou with Phurah thy servantH5288 downH3381 to the campH4264; 11and thou shalt hearH8085 what they sayH1696; and afterwards shall thy handH3027 be strengthenedH2388, and thou shalt goH3381 down unto the campH4264. And he wentH3381 downH3381 with Phurah his servantH5288 to the outside of the armed menH5288 that were in the campH4264. 12And MidianH4080 and AmalekH6002 and all the children of the eastH6924 lay along in the valleyH6010 as locustsH697 for multitudeH7230; and their camelsH1581 were without numberH4557, as the sandH2344 upon the sea-shore for multitudeH7230. 13And GideonH1439 cameH935, and behold, a manH376 was telling a dreamH2472 to his fellow; and he saidH559, Behold, I dreamedH2492 a dreamH2472, and lo, a cake of barley-bread tumbled into the campH4264 of MidianH4080, and cameH935 to the tentH168, and smote it that it fellH5307, and overturnedH2015 it; and the tentH168 lay along. 14And his fellow answered and saidH559, This is nothingH369 else save the swordH2719 of GideonH1439 the sonH1121 of JoashH3101, the manH376 of IsraelH3478: 1GodH430 hath givenH5414 into his handH3027 MidianH4080 and all the host. 15And it came to pass when GideonH1439 heardH8085 the telling of the dreamH2472 and its interpretation, that he worshipped. And he returnedH7725 into the campH4264 of IsraelH3478, and saidH559, AriseH6965; for Jehovah hath givenH5414 into your handH3027 the campH4264 of MidianH4080. 16And he dividedH2673 the threeH7969 hundredH3967 menH376 into threeH7969 companiesH7218, and he putH5414 a trumpetH7782 in every man's handH3027, and emptyH7386 pitchers, and torchesH3940 within the pitchers. 17And he saidH559 to them, Look on me, and do likewise; behold, when I comeH935 to the extremity of the campH4264, it shall beH1961 that, as I do, soH3651 shall ye do. 18And whenH834 I blowH8628 with a trumpetH7782, I and all that are with me, ye alsoH1571 shall blowH8628 the trumpetsH7782 around the whole campH4264, and shall sayH559, For Jehovah and for GideonH1439! 19And GideonH1439, and the hundredH3967 menH376 that were with him, cameH935 to the outside of the campH4264 in the beginning of the middleH8484 watchH8104; and they had but newly setH6965 the watchH8104; and they blewH8628 the trumpetsH7782, and broke the pitchers that were in their handsH3027. 20And the threeH7969 companiesH7218 blewH8628 the trumpetsH7782, and brokeH7665 in pieces the pitchers, and heldH2388 the torchesH3940 in their left handH3027, and the trumpetsH7782 in their rightH3225 handH3027 for blowingH8628, and cried, The swordH2719 of Jehovah and of GideonH1439! 21And they stoodH5975 every manH376 in his placeH8478 roundH5439 about the campH4264; and all the host ranH7323, and cried out, and fledH5127. 22And the threeH7969 hundredH3967 blew the trumpetsH7782, and Jehovah setH7760 every man's swordH2719 against his fellow, even throughout the campH4264. And the host fledH5127 to Beth-shittah towards Zererah, to the border of Abel-meholahH65, by Tabbath. 23And the menH376 of IsraelH3478 were called together out of NaphtaliH5321, and out of AsherH836, and out of all ManassehH4519, and pursuedH7291 after MidianH4080. 24And GideonH1439 sentH7971 messengersH4397 throughout mount EphraimH669, sayingH559, ComeH3381 down against MidianH4080, and takeH3920 before them the watersH4325 unto Beth-barahH1012, and the JordanH3383. And all the menH376 of EphraimH669 were called together, and tookH3920 the watersH4325 unto Beth-barahH1012, and the JordanH3383. 25And they tookH3920 twoH8147 princesH8269 of MidianH4080, OrebH6159 and ZeebH2062; and they slewH2026 OrebH6159 upon the rockH6697 OrebH6159, and ZeebH2062 they slewH2026 at the winepressH3342 of ZeebH2062; and they pursuedH7291 MidianH4080, and broughtH935 the headsH7218 of OrebH6159 and ZeebH2062 to GideonH1439 beyond the JordanH3383.
