2 Samuel 24:1-9
1And again the angerH639 of Jehovah was kindled against IsraelH3478, and he moved DavidH1732 against them sayingH559, Go, numberH4487 IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063.
2And the kingH4428 saidH559 to JoabH3097 the captain of the host, who was with him, Go, I pray thee, through all the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, from DanH1835 even to Beer-sheba, and count the peopleH5971, that I may knowH3045 the numberH4557 of the peopleH5971.
3And JoabH3097 saidH559 to the kingH4428, May Jehovah thy 1GodH430 even addH3254 to the peopleH5971, howH4100 many soever they be, a hundredfold, and that the eyesH5869 of my lord the kingH4428 may seeH7200 [it]; but whyH4100 does my lord the kingH4428 delightH2654 in this thingH1697?
4But the king's wordH1697 prevailedH2388 against JoabH3097, and against the captains of the armyH2428. And JoabH3097 and the captains of the armyH2428 wentH3318 out from the presenceH6440 of the kingH4428 to count the peopleH5971 of IsraelH3478.
5And they passedH5674 over the JordanH3383, and encampedH2583 in AroerH6177, on the rightH3225 sideH3225 of the cityH5892 that is in the midstH8432 of the ravine of GadH1410, and toward Jaazer.
6And they cameH935 to GileadH1568, and to the landH776 of Tahtim-hodshi; and cameH935 to Dan-jaan, and to the environs of SidonH6721;
7and they cameH935 to the fortified cityH5892 of TyreH6865, and to all the citiesH5892 of the Hivites and of the CanaanitesH3669; and wentH3318 out to the southH5045 of JudahH3063, to Beer-sheba.
8And they wentH935 through all the landH776, and cameH935 to JerusalemH3389 at the endH7097 of nineH8672 monthsH2320 and twentyH6242 daysH3117.
9And JoabH3097 gaveH5414 the sum of the numberH4557 of the peopleH5971 to the kingH4428; and there wereH1961 of IsraelH3478 eightH8083 hundredH3967 thousandH505 valiant menH376 that drewH8025 swordH2719; and the menH376 of JudahH3063 wereH1961 fiveH2568 hundredH3967 thousandH505 menH376.
