Samuel 13:6-27
So AmnonH550 layH7901 downH7901 and feigned himself sickH2470; and the kingH4428 cameH935 to seeH7200 him, and AmnonH550 saidH559 to the kingH4428, I pray thee, let TamarH8559 my sisterH269 comeH935, and make a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eatH1262 from her handH3027.
And DavidH1732 sentH7971 home to TamarH8559, sayingH559, GoH7971, I pray thee, to thy brotherH251 Amnon's houseH1004, and dress him foodH1279.
And TamarH8559 went to her brotherH251 Amnon's houseH1004; and he had lainH7901 downH7901. And she tookH3947 flour and kneadedH3888 it, and made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.
And she tookH3947 the pan, and pouredH3332 them out before him; but he refusedH3985 to eatH398. And AmnonH550 saidH559, Put every manH376 out from me. And they wentH3318 out every manH376 from him.
And AmnonH550 saidH559 to TamarH8559, BringH935 the dish into the chamberH2315, that I may eatH1262 of thy handH3027. And TamarH8559 tookH3947 the cakes that she had madeH6213, and broughtH935 them into the chamberH2315 to AmnonH550 her brotherH251.
And she presented them to him to eatH398; and he tookH2388 holdH2388 of her, and saidH559 to her, ComeH935, lieH7901 with me, my sisterH269.
And she saidH559 to him, No, my brotherH251, do not humble me; for no such thing is done in IsraelH3478: do not this infamy.
And I, whither shall I carry my reproachH2781? and thou wouldest beH1961 as oneH259 of the infamous in IsraelH3478. And nowH6258, I pray thee, speakH1696 to the kingH4428; for he will not withholdH4513 me from thee.
But he wouldH14 not hearken to her voiceH6963, and was strongerH2388 than she, and humbled her and layH7901 with her.
And AmnonH550 hatedH8130 her with an exceeding greatH1419 hatredH8135, for the hatredH8135 with which he hatedH8130 her was greaterH1419 than the loveH157 with which he had lovedH157 her. And AmnonH550 saidH559 to her, AriseH6965, be gone.
And she saidH559 to him, There is no cause for this evilH7451 in sendingH7971 me awayH7971, [which] is greaterH1419 than the otherH312 that thou didst to me. But he wouldH14 not hearken to her.
Then he calledH7121 his youngH5288 manH5288 that attended upon him, and saidH559, Put now this [woman] out from me, and bolt the doorH1817 after her.
Now she had a vest of many colours upon her; for soH3651 were the king's daughtersH1323 that were virginsH1330 apparelled. And his attendant broughtH3318 her out, and bolted the doorH1817 after her.
And TamarH8559 putH7760 ashesH665 on her headH7218, and rent her vest of many colours which was on her, and laid her handH3027 on her headH7218, and wentH1980 away, cryingH2199 out as she wentH1980.
And AbsalomH53 her brotherH251 saidH559 to her, Has AmnonH550 thy brotherH251 beenH1961 with thee? and nowH6258, my sisterH269, beH1961 still: he is thy brotherH251; take not this thingH1697 to heartH3820. And TamarH8559 remainedH3427, and [that] desolateH8076, in her brotherH251 Absalom's houseH1004.
And kingH4428 DavidH1732 heardH8085 of all these thingsH1697, and he was veryH3966 angryH2734.
And AbsalomH53 spokeH1696 to AmnonH550 neither goodH2896 nor badH7451; for AbsalomH53 hatedH8130 AmnonH550, because he had humbled his sisterH269 TamarH8559.
And it came to pass after two full yearsH8141, that AbsalomH53 had sheepshearers in Baal-Hazor, which is beside EphraimH669; and AbsalomH53 invited all the king's sonsH1121.
And AbsalomH53 cameH935 to the kingH4428, and saidH559, Behold, now, thy servantH5650 has sheepshearers; let the kingH4428, I pray thee, and his servantsH5650 goH935 with thy servantH5650.
And the kingH4428 saidH559 to AbsalomH53, No, my sonH1121, let us not all go, lest we be burdensome to thee. And he urged him, but he wouldH14 not go; and he blessedH1288 him.
And AbsalomH53 saidH559, If not, I pray thee, let my brotherH251 AmnonH550 go with us. And the kingH4428 saidH559 to him, WhyH4100 should he go with thee?
But AbsalomH53 pressed him; and he let AmnonH550 and all the king's sonsH1121 goH7971 with him.
