2So fireאֵ֛שׁ'eshH784came outוַתֵּ֥צֵאva.Te.tze'H3318from the presenceמִלִּפְנֵ֥יmi.lif.NeiH6440of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068and consumedוַתֹּ֣אכַלva.To.khalH398themאוֹתָ֑ם'o.TamH853,and they diedוַיָּמֻ֖תוּvai.ya.Mu.tuH4191in the presence ofלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

3Then Mosesמֹשֶׁ֜הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶֽל־'el-H413Aaronאַהֲרֹ֗ן'a.ha.RonH175, “Thisהוּא֩hu'H1931is whatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834the LORDיְהוָ֤ה׀Yah.wehH3068meantדִּבֶּ֨רdi.BerH1696when He saidלֵאמֹר֙le.MorH559: ‘To those who come near Meבִּקְרֹבַ֣יbik.ro.VaiH7138I will show My holinessאֶקָּדֵ֔שׁ'e.ka.DeshH6942,and inוְעַל־ve.'al-H5921the sight ofפְּנֵ֥יpe.NeiH6440allכָל־khol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971I will reveal My gloryאֶכָּבֵ֑ד'e.ka.VedH3513.’”But Aaronאַהֲרֹֽן׃'a.ha.RonH175remained silentוַיִּדֹּ֖םvai.yi.DomH1826.

4Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872summonedוַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yik.Ra'H7121אֶל־'el-H413Mishaelמִֽישָׁאֵל֙mi.sha.'ElH4332וְאֶ֣לve.'ElH413and Elzaphanאֶלְצָפָ֔ן'el.tza.FanH469,sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Aaron’sאַהֲרֹ֑ן'a.ha.RonH175uncleדֹּ֣דdodH1730Uzzielעֻזִּיאֵ֖ל'u.zi.'ElH5816,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to themאֲלֵהֶ֗ם'a.le.HemH413, “Come hereקִ֠רְב֞וּkir.VuH7126;carryשְׂא֤וּse.'UH5375אֶת־'et-H853the bodies of your cousinsאֲחֵיכֶם֙'a.chei.KhemH251מֵאֵ֣תme.'EtH854outsideמִח֖וּץmi.ChutzH2351the campלַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃La.ma.cha.NehH4264,away from the frontפְּנֵי־pe.nei-H6440of the sanctuaryהַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ אֶל־ha.Ko.desh 'el-H6944 H413.”

5So they came forwardוַֽיִּקְרְב֗וּvai.yik.re.VuH7126and carried themוַיִּשָּׂאֻם֙vai.yi.sa.'UmH5375,still in their tunicsבְּכֻתֳּנֹתָ֔ם אֶל־be.khu.to.no.Tam 'el-H3801 H413,outsideמִח֖וּץmi.ChutzH2351the campלַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑הla.ma.cha.NehH4264,asכַּאֲשֶׁ֖רka.'a.SherH834Mosesמֹשֶֽׁה׃mo.ShehH4872had directedדִּבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696.

6Then Mosesמֹשֶׁ֣הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶֽל־'el-H413Aaronאַהֲרֹ֡ן'a.ha.RonH175and his sonsבָּנָ֜יוba.NavH1121Eleazarוּלְאֶלְעָזָר֩u.le.'el.'a.ZarH499and Ithamarוּלְאִֽיתָמָ֨ר׀u.le.'i.ta.MarH385, “Do notאַל־'al-H408let your hairרָֽאשֵׁיכֶ֥םra.shei.KhemH7218become disheveledתִּפְרָ֣עוּ׀tif.Ra.'uH6544and do notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808tearתִפְרֹ֙מוּ֙tif.Ro.muH6533your garmentsוּבִגְדֵיכֶ֤םu.vig.dei.KhemH899,or elseוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808you will dieתָמֻ֔תוּta.Mu.tuH4191,and the LORD will be angryיִקְצֹ֑ףyik.TzofH7107withוְעַ֥לve.'AlH5921the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605congregationהָעֵדָ֖הha.'e.DahH5712.But your brothersוַאֲחֵיכֶם֙va.'a.chei.KhemH251,the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,may mournיִבְכּוּ֙yiv.KuH1058on account ofאֶת־'et-H853the fireהַשְּׂרֵפָ֔הha.se.re.FahH8316thatאֲשֶׁ֖ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068has ignitedשָׂרַ֥ףsa.RafH8313.

7You shall notלֹ֤אlo'H3808go outsideתֵֽצְאוּ֙te.tze.'UH3318the entranceוּמִפֶּתַח֩u.mi.pe.TachH6607to the Tentאֹ֨הֶל'O.helH168of Meetingמוֹעֵ֜דmo.'EdH4150,orפֶּן־pen-H6435you will dieתָּמֻ֔תוּta.Mu.tuH4191,forכִּי־ki-H3588the LORD’sיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068anointingמִשְׁחַ֥תmish.ChatH4888oilשֶׁ֛מֶןShe.menH8081is on youעֲלֵיכֶ֑ם'a.lei.KhemH5921.”So they didוַֽיַּעֲשׂ֖וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213as Mosesמֹשֶֽׁה׃ פmo.ShehH4872instructedכִּדְבַ֥רkid.VarH1697.

Restrictions for Priests

8Then the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068saidוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696toאֶֽל־'el-H413Aaronאַהֲרֹ֖ן לֵאמֹֽר׃'a.ha.Ron le.MorH175 H559,

9“Youאַתָּ֣ה׀'a.TahH859and your sonsוּבָנֶ֣יךָ אִתָּ֗ךְu.va.Nei.kha 'i.TakhH1121 H854are notאַל־'al-H408to drinkתֵּ֣שְׁתְּ׀Te.shetH8354wineיַ֣יִןYa.yinH3196or strong drinkוְשֵׁכָ֞רve.she.KharH7941when you enterבְּבֹאֲכֶ֛ם אֶל־be.vo.'a.Khem 'el-H935 H413the Tentאֹ֥הֶל'O.helH168of Meetingמוֹעֵ֖דmo.'EdH4150,or elseוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808you will dieתָמֻ֑תוּta.Mu.tuH4191;this is a permanentעוֹלָ֖םo.LamH5769statuteחֻקַּ֥תchu.KatH2708for the generations to comeלְדֹרֹתֵיכֶֽם׃le.do.ro.tei.KhemH1755.

10You must distinguishוּֽלֲהַבְדִּ֔ילu.la.hav.DilH914betweenבֵּ֥יןbeinH996the holyהַקֹּ֖דֶשׁ וּבֵ֣יןha.Ko.desh u.VeinH6944 H996and the commonהַחֹ֑לha.CholH2455,betweenוּבֵ֥יןu.VeinH996the cleanהַטָּהֽוֹר׃ha.ta.HorH2889and the uncleanהַטָּמֵ֖א וּבֵ֥יןha.ta.Me' u.VeinH2931 H996,

15They are to bringיָבִ֔יאוּya.Vi.'uH935the thighשׁ֣וֹקShokH7785of the contributionהַתְּרוּמָ֞הha.te.ru.MahH8641and the breastוַחֲזֵ֣הva.cha.ZehH2373of the wave offeringהַתְּנוּפָ֗הha.te.nu.FahH8573,together withעַ֣ל'alH5921the fat portionsהַחֲלָבִים֙ha.cha.la.VimH2459of the food offeringsאִשֵּׁ֤י'i.SheiH801,to waveלְהָנִ֥יףle.ha.NifH5130as a wave offeringתְּנוּפָ֖הte.nu.FahH8573beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.It will belong permanentlyעוֹלָ֔םo.LamH5769toוְהָיָ֨הve.ha.YahH1961you and your childrenוּלְבָנֶ֤יךָ אִתְּךָ֙ לְחָק־u.le.va.Nei.kha 'i.te.Kha le.chok-H1121 H854 H2706,asכַּאֲשֶׁ֖רka.'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068has commandedצִוָּ֥הtzi.VahH6680.”

16Laterוְאֵ֣ת׀ve.'EtH853,Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872searched carefullyH1875for the goatשְׂעִ֣ירse.'IrH8163of the sin offeringהַֽחַטָּ֗אתha.cha.TatH2403,and beholdוְהִנֵּ֣הve.hi.NehH2009,it had been burned upשֹׂרָ֑ףso.RafH8313.He was angryוַ֠יִּקְצֹףVai.yik.tzofH7107withעַל־'al-H5921Eleazarאֶלְעָזָ֤ר וְעַל־'el.'a.Zar ve.'al-H499 H5921and Ithamarאִֽיתָמָר֙'i.ta.MarH385,Aaron’sאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175remainingהַנּוֹתָרִ֖םha.no.ta.RimH3498sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121,and askedלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

18Sinceהֵ֚ןhenH2005its bloodדָּמָ֔הּ אֶל־da.Mah 'el-H1818 H413was notלֹא־lo'-H3808broughtהוּבָ֣אhu.Va'H935אֶת־'et-H853insideפְּנִ֑ימָהpe.Ni.mahH6441the holyהַקֹּ֖דֶשׁha.Ko.deshH6944place,you should have eatenH398אֹתָ֛הּ'o.TahH853it in the sanctuary areaבַּקֹּ֖דֶשׁba.Ko.deshH6944,asכַּאֲשֶׁ֥רka.'a.SherH834I commandedצִוֵּֽיתִי׃tzi.Vei.tiH6680.”

19But Aaronאַהֲרֹ֜ן'a.ha.RonH175repliedוַיְדַבֵּ֨רvay.da.BerH1696toאֶל־'el-H413Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872, “Beholdהֵ֣ןhenH2005,this very dayהַ֠יּוֹםHai.yomH3117they presentedהִקְרִ֨יבוּhik.Ri.vuH7126אֶת־'et-H853their sin offeringחַטָּאתָ֤םcha.ta.TamH2403וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and their burnt offeringעֹֽלָתָם֙'o.la.TamH5930beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068.Since these thingsכָּאֵ֑לֶּהka.'E.lehH428have happened to meוַתִּקְרֶ֥אנָהva.tik.Re.nahH7122אֹתִ֖י'o.TiH853,if I had eatenוְאָכַ֤לְתִּיve.'a.Khal.tiH398the sin offeringחַטָּאת֙cha.taTH2403todayהַיּ֔וֹםhai.YomH3117,would it have been acceptableהַיִּיטַ֖בhai.yi.TavH3190in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068?”

20And when Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872heard thisוַיִּשְׁמַ֣עvai.yish.Ma'H8085explanation,he was satisfiedוַיִּיטַ֖ב בְּעֵינָֽיו׃ פvai.yi.Tav be.'ei.NavH3190 H5869.
