23And when they cameוַיָּבֹ֣אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to Marahמָרָ֔תָהma.Ra.tahH4785,they couldיָֽכְל֗וּya.khe.LuH3201notוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808drinkלִשְׁתֹּ֥תlish.TotH8354the waterמַ֙יִם֙ma.yimH4325thereמִמָּרָ֔הmi.ma.RahH4785becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588itהֵ֑םHemH1992was bitterמָרִ֖יםma.RimH4751. (That is whyעַל־ כֵּ֥ן'al- kenH5921 H3651it was namedקָרָֽא־ שְׁמָ֖הּka.ra'- she.MahH7121 H8034Marahמָרָֽה׃ma.RahH4785.)

24So the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971grumbledוַיִּלֹּ֧נוּvai.yi.Lo.nuH3885againstעַל־'al-H5921Mosesמֹשֶׁ֥הmo.ShehH4872,sayingלֵּאמֹ֖רle.MorH559, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100are we to drinkנִּשְׁתֶּֽה׃nish.TehH8354?”

25And Moses cried outוַיִּצְעַ֣קvai.yitz.'AkH6817toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068,and the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068showed himוַיּוֹרֵ֤הוּvai.yo.Re.huH3384a logעֵ֔ץ'EtzH6086.And when he cast itוַיַּשְׁלֵךְ֙vai.yash.leKhH7993intoאֶל־'el-H413the watersהַמַּ֔יִםha.Ma.yimH4325, theyהַמָּ֑יִםha.Ma.yimH4325were sweetenedוַֽיִּמְתְּק֖וּvai.yim.te.KuH4985.Thereשָׁ֣םshamH8033the LORDmadeשָׂ֥םsamH7760for thema statuteחֹ֥קchokH2706and an ordinanceוּמִשְׁפָּ֖טu.mish.PatH4941,and thereוְשָׁ֥םve.ShamH8033He tested themנִסָּֽהוּ׃ni.Sa.huH5254,

26sayingוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559, “Ifאִם־'im-H518you will listen carefullyH8085to the voiceלְק֣וֹל׀le.KolH6963of the LORDיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,and doתַּעֲשֶׂ֔הta.'a.SehH6213what is rightוְהַיָּשָׁ֤רve.hai.ya.SharH3477in His eyesבְּעֵינָיו֙be.'ei.NavH5869,and pay attentionוְהַֽאֲזַנְתָּ֙ve.ha.'a.zan.TaH238to His commandsלְמִצְוֹתָ֔יוle.mitz.vo.TavH4687,and keepוְשָׁמַרְתָּ֖ve.sha.mar.TaH8104allכָּל־kol-H3605His statutesחֻקָּ֑יוchu.KavH2706, thenI will notלֹא־lo'-H3808bringשַׂ֤מְתִּיSam.tiH7760on youעָלֶ֔יךָ'a.Lei.khaH5921anyכָּֽל־kal-H3605of the diseasesהַמַּֽחֲלָ֞הha.ma.cha.LahH4245אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834I inflictedאָשִׂ֣ים'a.SimH7760on the Egyptiansבְמִצְרַ֙יִם֙ve.mitz.Ra.yimH4714.Forכִּ֛יkiH3588Iאֲנִ֥י'a.NiH589am the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068who heals youרֹפְאֶֽךָ׃ סro.fe.'E.khaH7495.”

27Then they cameוַיָּבֹ֣אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to Elimאֵילִ֔מָה'ei.Li.mahH362,whereוְשָׁ֗םve.ShamH8033there were twelveשְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵ֛הshe.Teim 'es.RehH8147 H6240springsעֵינֹ֥ת'ei.NotH5869of waterמַ֖יִםMa.yimH4325and seventyוְשִׁבְעִ֣יםve.shiv.'ImH7657palm treesתְּמָרִ֑יםte.ma.RimH8558,and they campedוַיַּחֲנוּ־vai.ya.cha.nu-H2583thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033byעַל־'al-H5921the watersהַמָּֽיִם׃ha.Ma.yimH4325.
