11Now thereforeוְעַתָּ֣הve.'a.TahH6258,listen to meשְׁמָע֔וּנִיshe.ma.'U.niH8085and returnוְהָשִׁ֙יבוּ֙ve.ha.Shi.vuH7725the captivesהַשִּׁבְיָ֔הha.shiv.YahH7633אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you tookשְׁבִיתֶ֖םshe.vi.TemH7617from your kinsmenמֵאֲחֵיכֶ֑םme.'a.chei.KhemH251,forכִּ֛יkiH3588the fierce angerחֲר֥וֹן אַף־cha.Ron 'af-H2740 H639of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068is upon youעֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ ס'a.lei.KhemH5921.”

20Then Tiglath-pileserH8407kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּר'a.ShurH804cameוַיָּבֹ֣אvai.ya.Vo'H935toעָלָ֔יו'a.LavH5921Ahazbut afflictedוַיָּ֥צַרvai.Ya.tzarH6887himrather thanוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808strengthening himחֲזָקֽוֹ׃cha.za.KoH2388.

21Althoughכִּֽי־ki-H3588Ahazאָחָז֙'a.ChazH271אֶת־'et-H853had taken a portionחָלַ֤קcha.LakH2505from the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,fromוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853the royalהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428palaceבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004,and from the princesוְהַשָּׂרִ֑יםve.ha.sa.RimH8269and had presentedוַיִּתֵּן֙vai.yi.TenH5414itto the kingלְמֶ֣לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּר'a.ShurH804,it did notוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808helpלְעֶזְרָ֖הle.'ez.RahH5833him.

22In the timeוּבְעֵת֙u.ve.'EtH6256of his distressהָצֵ֣רha.TzerH6887,Kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Ahazאָחָֽז׃'a.ChazH271ה֖וּאhu'H1931became even moreוַיּ֖וֹסֶףvai.Yo.sefH3254unfaithfulלִמְע֣וֹלlim.'olH4603to the LORDבַּיהוָ֑הba.Yah.wehH3068.

23He sacrificedוַיִּזְבַּ֗חvai.yiz.BachH2076to the godsלֵֽאלֹהֵ֣יle.lo.HeiH430of Damascusדַרְמֶשֶׂק֮dar.me.SekH1834,who had defeatedהַמַּכִּ֣יםha.ma.KimH5221him,and he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Becauseכִּ֠יkiH3588the godsאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430of the kingsמַלְכֵֽי־mal.khei-H4428of Aramאֲרָם֙'a.RamH758הֵ֚םhemH1992have helpedמַעְזְרִ֣יםma'.ze.RimH5826themאוֹתָ֔ם'o.TamH853,I will sacrificeאֲזַבֵּ֖חַ'a.za.Be.achH2076to themthat they may help meוְיַעְזְר֑וּנִיve.ya'.ze.Ru.niH5826.”But theseוְהֵ֛םve.HemH1992godswereהָֽיוּ־ha.yu-H1961the downfallלְהַכְשִׁיל֖וֹle.hakh.shi.LoH3782of Ahazand of allוּלְכָל־u.le.khol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
