9But a prophetנָבִ֥יאna.Vi'H5030of the Lordלַֽיהוָה֮la.Yah.wehH3068was thereוְ֠שָׁםVe.shomH8033,whose nameשְׁמוֹ֒she.MoH8034wasOdedעֹדֵ֣ד'o.DedH5752; andhe wentוַיֵּצֵ֗אvai.ye.Tze'H3318out to meetלִפְנֵ֤יlif.NeiH6440the armyהַצָּבָא֙ha.tza.Va'H6635which cameהַבָּ֣אha.Ba'H935to Samariaלְשֹׁמְר֔וֹןle.sho.me.RonH8111and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Beholdהִ֠נֵּהHi.nehH2009,because the Lordיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵֽי־'e.lo.hei-H430of your fathersאֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֛ם'a.vo.tei.KhemH1,was angryבַּחֲמַ֨תba.cha.MatH2534with Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063,He has deliveredנְתָנָ֣םne.ta.NamH5414them into your handבְּיֶדְכֶ֑םbe.yed.KhemH3027,and you have slainוַתַּֽהַרְגוּ־va.ta.har.gu-H2026them in a rageבְזַ֔עַףve.Za.'afH2197whichhas evenעַ֥ד'adH5704reachedהִגִּֽיעַ׃hi.Gi.a'H5060heavenלַשָּׁמַ֖יִםla.sha.Ma.yimH8064.

11Nowוְעַתָּ֣הve.'a.TahH6258therefore, listenשְׁמָע֔וּנִיshe.ma.'U.niH8085to me and returnוְהָשִׁ֙יבוּ֙ve.ha.Shi.vuH7725the captivesהַשִּׁבְיָ֔הha.shiv.YahH7633whomאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you capturedשְׁבִיתֶ֖םshe.vi.TemH7617from your brothersמֵאֲחֵיכֶ֑םme.'a.chei.KhemH251,for the burningחֲר֥וֹןcha.RonH2740angerאַף־'af-H639of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068is againstעֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ ס'a.lei.KhemH5921you.”

14So the armedהֶֽחָל֗וּץhe.cha.LutzH2502men leftוַיַּעֲזֹ֣בvai.ya.'a.ZoH5800the captivesהַשִּׁבְיָה֙ha.shiv.YahH7633and the spoilH957beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the officersהַשָּׂרִ֖יםha.sa.RimH8269and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the assemblyהַקָּהָֽל׃ha.ka.HalH6951.

17For againוְע֥וֹדve.'odH5750the Edomitesאֲדוֹמִ֖ים'a.do.MimH130had comeבָּ֑אוּBa.'uH935and attackedוַיַּכּ֥וּvai.ya.KuH5221Judahבִיהוּדָ֖הvi.hu.DahH3063and carriedוַיִּשְׁבּוּ־vai.yish.bu-H7617away captivesשֶֽׁבִי׃She.viH7628.

19For the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068humbledהִכְנִ֤יעַhikh.Ni.a'H3665Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063becauseבַּעֲב֖וּרba.'a.VurH5668of Ahazאָחָ֣ז'a.ChazH271kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428ofIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,for he had broughtH6544about a lackH6544of restraintH6544in Judahבִּֽיהוּדָ֔הbi.hu.DahH3063and was veryH4604unfaithfulH4604to the Lordבַּיהוָֽה׃ba.Yah.wehH3068.

20SoTilgath-pilneserH8407kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּר'a.ShurH804cameוַיָּבֹ֣אvai.ya.Vo'H935againstעָלָ֔יו'a.LavH5921him and afflictedוַיָּ֥צַרvai.Ya.tzarH6887him insteadוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808of strengtheningחֲזָקֽוֹ׃cha.za.KoH2388him.

21Althoughכִּֽי־ki-H3588Ahazאָחָז֙'a.ChazH271tookH2505a portionH2505out of the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068and out of the palaceבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428and of the princesוְהַשָּׂרִ֑יםve.ha.sa.RimH8269,and gaveוַיִּתֵּן֙vai.yi.TenH5414itto the kingלְמֶ֣לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּר'a.ShurH804,it did not helpלְעֶזְרָ֖הle.'ez.RahH5833him.

22Now in the timeוּבְעֵת֙u.ve.'EtH6256of his distressהָצֵ֣רha.TzerH6887thisH1931sameH1931Kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Ahazאָחָֽז׃'a.ChazH271becameH4603yetH3254moreH3254unfaithfulH4603to the Lordבַּיהוָ֑הba.Yah.wehH3068.

23For he sacrificedוַיִּזְבַּ֗חvai.yiz.BachH2076to the godsלֵֽאלֹהֵ֣יle.lo.HeiH430of Damascusדַרְמֶשֶׂק֮dar.me.SekH1834which haddefeatedהַמַּכִּ֣יםha.ma.KimH5221him, and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Becauseכִּ֠יkiH3588the godsאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430of the kingsמַלְכֵֽי־mal.khei-H4428of Aramאֲרָם֙'a.RamH758helpedמַעְזְרִ֣יםma'.ze.RimH5826them, I will sacrificeאֲזַבֵּ֖חַ'a.za.Be.achH2076to them that they may helpוְיַעְזְר֑וּנִיve.ya'.ze.Ru.niH5826me.” But they becameהָֽיוּ־ha.yu-H1961thedownfallלְהַכְשִׁיל֖וֹle.hakh.shi.LoH3782of him and allוּלְכָל־u.le.khol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
