2Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֣הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274wastwenty-twoאַרְבָּעִ֨ים וּשְׁתַּ֤יִם'ar.ba.'Im u.she.Ta.yimH705 H8147years oldבֶּן־ שָׁנָה֙ben- sha.NahH1121 H8141when he became kingבְמָלְכ֔וֹve.ma.le.KhoH4427,and he reignedמָלַ֖ךְma.LakhH4427in Jerusalemבִּֽירוּשָׁלִָ֑םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389oneאַחַ֔ת'a.ChatH259yearוְשָׁנָ֣הve.sha.NahH8141.His mother’sאִמּ֔וֹ'i.MoH517nameוְשֵׁ֣םve.ShemH8034was Athaliahעֲתַלְיָ֖הוּ'a.tal.Ya.huH6271,the granddaughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Omriעָמְרִֽי׃'a.me.RiH6018.

3Ahaziahה֣וּאhu'H1931alsoגַּם־gam-H1571walkedהָלַ֔ךְha.LakhH1980in the waysבְּדַרְכֵ֖יbe.dar.KheiH1870of the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Ahabאַחְאָ֑ב'ach.'AvH256,forכִּ֥יkiH3588his motherאִמּ֛וֹ הָיְתָ֥ה'i.Mo ha.ye.TahH517 H1961was his counselorיֽוֹעַצְתּ֖וֹyo.'atz.ToH3289in wickednessלְהַרְשִֽׁיעַ׃le.har.Shi.a'H7561.

4And he didוַיַּ֧עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213evilהָרַ֛עha.Ra'H7451in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,as the houseכְּבֵ֣יתke.VeitH1004of Ahabאַחְאָ֑ב'ach.'AvH256had done,forכִּי־ki-H3588to hisdestructionלְמַשְׁחִ֥יתle.mash.ChitH4889theyהֵ֜מָּהHe.mahH1992wereהָֽיוּ־ha.yu-H1961hiscounselorsיֽוֹעֲצִ֗יםyo.'a.TzimH3289afterאַחֲרֵ֛י'a.cha.ReiH310the deathמ֥וֹתMotH4194of his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1.

7Ahaziah’sאֲחַזְיָ֔הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274downfallתְּבוּסַ֣תte.vu.SatH8395cameהָיְתָה֙ha.ye.TahH1961from Godוּמֵֽאֱלֹהִ֗יםu.me.'E.lo.HimH430when he wentלָב֖וֹאla.Vo'H935to visitאֶל־'el-H413Joramיוֹרָ֑םyo.RamH3141.When Ahaziah arrivedוּבְבֹא֗וֹu.ve.vo.'OH935,he went outיָצָ֤אya.Tza'H3318withעִם־'im-H5973Joramיְהוֹרָם֙ye.ho.RamH3088toאֶל־'el-H413meet Jehuיֵה֣וּאye.Hu'H3058sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Nimshiנִמְשִׁ֔יnim.ShiH5250,whomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068had anointedמְשָׁח֣וֹme.sha.ChoH4886to destroyלְהַכְרִ֖יתle.hakh.RitH3772אֶת־'et-H853the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Ahabאַחְאָֽב׃'ach.'AvH256.

Jehu Kills the Princes of Judah

(2 Kings 9:14–29)

8וַיְהִ֕יvay.HiH1961So while Jehuיֵה֖וּאye.Hu'H3058was executing judgmentכְּהִשָּׁפֵ֥טke.hi.sha.FetH8199onעִם־'im-H5973the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Ahabאַחְאָ֑ב'ach.'AvH256,he foundוַיִּמְצָא֩vai.yim.Tza'H4672אֶת־'et-H853the rulersשָׂרֵ֨יsa.ReiH8269of Judahיְהוּדָ֜הye.hu.DahH3063and the sonsוּבְנֵ֨יu.ve.NeiH1121of Ahaziah’sאֲחַזְיָ֛הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274brothersאֲחֵ֧י'a.CheiH251who were servingמְשָׁרְתִ֥יםme.sha.re.TimH8334Ahaziahלַאֲחַזְיָ֖הוּla.'a.chaz.Ya.huH274,and he killed themוַיַּהַרְגֵֽם׃vai.ya.har.GemH2026.

9Then Jehu looked forוַיְבַקֵּשׁ֩vay.va.KeshH1245אֶת־'et-H853Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274,and Jehu’s soldiers captured himוַֽיִּלְכְּדֻ֜הוּvai.yil.ke.Du.huH3920while heוְה֧וּאve.Hu'H1931was hidingמִתְחַבֵּ֣אmit.cha.Be'H2244in Samariaבְשֹֽׁמְר֗וֹןve.sho.me.RonH8111.So Ahaziah was broughtוַיְבִאֻ֣הוּvay.vi.'U.huH935toאֶל־'el-H413Jehuיֵהוּא֮ye.Hu'H3058and put to deathוַיְמִתֻהוּ֒vay.mi.tu.HuH4191.They buried himוַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֔הוּvai.yik.be.Ru.huH6912,forכִּ֤יkiH3588they saidאָֽמְרוּ֙'a.me.RuH559, “Heה֔וּאHu'H1931is the grandsonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֣טye.ho.sha.FatH3092,whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834soughtדָּרַ֥שׁda.RashH1875אֶת־'et-H853the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068with allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605his heartלְבָב֑וֹle.va.VoH3824.”So no oneוְאֵין֙ve.'EinH369was leftfrom the houseלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004of Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֔הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274withלַעְצֹ֥רla'.TzorH6113the strengthכֹּ֖חַKo.achH3581to rule the kingdomלְמַמְלָכָֽה׃le.mam.la.KhahH4467.

Athaliah and Joash

(2 Kings 11:1–3)

12And Joash remainedוַיְהִ֤יvay.HiH1961hiddenמִתְחַבֵּ֖אmit.cha.Be'H2244with themאִתָּם֙'i.TamH854in the houseבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430for sixשֵׁ֣שׁsheshH8337yearsשָׁנִ֖יםsha.NimH8141while Athaliahוַעֲתַלְיָ֖הva.'a.tal.YahH6271ruledמֹלֶ֥כֶת עַל־mo.Le.khet 'al-H4427 H5921the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ פha.'A.retzH776.
