Numbers 5
Revised Version 1895
1And the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2CommandH6680 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, that they putH7971 outH4480 of the campH4264 everyH3605 leperH6879, and everyH3605 one that hath an issue, and whosoever is uncleanH2931 by the deadH5315: 3both maleH2145 and femaleH5347 shall ye putH7971 outH7971, withoutH3808 the campH4264 shall ye putH7971 them; that they defileH2930 notH3808 their campH4264, in the midstH8432 whereof I dwellH7931. 4And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 didH6213 soH3651, and putH7971 them outH7971 without the campH4264: as the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872, soH3651 didH6213 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. 5And the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 6SpeakH1696 unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, When a manH376 or womanH802 shall commit anyH3605 sinH2403 that menH376 commit, to doH6213 a trespassH4604 againstH413 the LORDH3068, and that soulH5315 be guiltyH816; 7then they shall confessH3034 their sinH2403 whichH834 they have doneH6213: and he shall makeH5414 restitutionH7725 for his guiltH817 in fullH7218, and addH3254 unto it the fifthH2549 partH5921 thereof, and giveH5414 it unto him in respectH5921 of whomH834 he hath been guiltyH816. 8But ifH518 the manH376 have noH369 kinsmanH1350 to whomH834 restitutionH7725 may be madeH7725 for the guiltH817, the restitutionH7725 for guiltH817 whichH834 is madeH7725 unto the LORDH3068 shall be the priest’sH3548; besidesH905 the ramH352 of the atonementH3725, wherebyH834 atonementH3725 shall be madeH7725 for him. 9And everyH3605 heaveH8641 offering of allH3605 the holyH6944 things of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, whichH834 they presentH7126 unto the priestH3548, shall be his. 10And everyH376 man’sH376 hallowed things shall be his: whatsoever anyH376 manH376 giveth the priestH3548, it shall be his. 11And the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 12SpeakH1696 unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and sayH559 unto them, IfH3588 anyH376 man’sH376 wifeH802 go asideH7847, and commit a trespassH4604 againstH413 him, 13and a manH376 lieH7901 with herH7901 carnally, and it be hidH5641 from the eyesH5869 of herH7901 husbandH376, and be kept closeH5956, and sheH1931 be defiledH2930, and there be noH3808 witnessH5707 againstH854 herH7901, neitherH3808 sheH1931 be takenH8610 in the act; 14and the spiritH7307 of jealousyH7068 comeH7068 uponH5921 him, and he be jealousH7065 of his wifeH802, and sheH1931 be defiledH2930: or ifH176 the spiritH7307 of jealousyH7068 comeH7068 uponH5921 him, and he be jealousH7065 of his wifeH802, and sheH1931 be notH3808 defiledH2930: 15then shall the manH376 bringH935 his wifeH802 unto the priestH3548, and shall bringH935 herH413 oblation for herH413, the tenthH6224 partH1931 of an ephahH374 of barleyH8184 mealH4503; he shall pourH3332 noH3808 oilH8081 uponH5921 it, norH3808 putH5414 frankincenseH3828 thereonH5921; for it is a mealH4503 offering of jealousyH7068, a mealH4503 offering of memorialH2146, bringingH935 iniquityH5771 to remembranceH2142. 16And the priestH3548 shall bringH7126 herH7126 nearH7126, and setH5975 herH7126 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068: 17and the priestH3548 shall takeH3947 holyH6918 waterH4325 in an earthenH2789 vesselH3627; and of the dustH6083 that is on the floorH7172 of the tabernacleH4908 the priestH3548 shall takeH3947, and putH5414 it intoH413 the waterH4325: 18and the priestH3548 shall setH5414 the womanH802 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and letH5414 the hairH7218 of the woman’sH802 headH7218 goH1961 looseH5921, and putH5414 the mealH4503 offering of memorialH2146 in herH5921 handsH3027, whichH1931 is the mealH4503 offering of jealousyH7068: and the priestH3548 shall have in his handH3027 the waterH4325 of bitternessH4751 that causeth the curseH779: 19and the priestH3548 shall cause herH413 to swearH7650, and shall sayH559 unto the womanH802, IfH518 noH3808 manH376 have lainH7901 with thee, and ifH518 thou hast notH3808 goneH7847 asideH7847 to uncleannessH2932, being underH8478 thy husbandH376, be thou freeH5352 from this waterH4325 of bitternessH4751 that causeth the curseH779: 20but ifH3588 thou hast goneH7847 asideH1107, being underH8478 thy husbandH376, and ifH3588 thou be defiledH2930, and someH376 manH376 have lain with thee besidesH1107 thine husbandH376: 21then the priestH3548 shall causeH5414 the womanH802 to swearH7650 with the oathH7621 of cursing, and the priestH3548 shall sayH559 unto the womanH802, The LORDH3068 makeH5414 thee a curseH423 and an oathH7621 among thy peopleH5971, when the LORDH3068 doth makeH5414 thy thighH3409 to fallH5307 awayH5307, and thy bellyH990 to swellH6639; 22and this waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779 shall goH935 intoH935 thy bowelsH4578, and make thy bellyH990 to swellH6638, and thy thighH3409 to fallH5307 awayH5307: and the womanH802 shall sayH559, AmenH543, AmenH543. 23And the priestH3548 shall writeH3789 theseH428 cursesH423 in a bookH5612, and he shall blot them outH413 intoH413 the waterH4325 of bitternessH4751: 24and he shall make the womanH802 drinkH8248 the waterH4325 of bitternessH4751 that causeth the curseH779: and the waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779 shall enterH935 intoH935 herH802 and become bitterH4751. 25And the priestH3548 shall takeH3947 the mealH4503 offering of jealousyH7068 outH6440 of the woman’sH802 handH3027, and shall waveH5130 the mealH4503 offering beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and bringH7126 it unto the altarH4196: 26and the priestH3548 shall takeH7061 an handfulH7061 of the mealH4503 offering, as the memorialH234 thereof, and burnH6999 it uponH802 the altarH4196, and afterwardH310 shall make the womanH802 drinkH8248 the waterH4325. 27And when he hath madeH1961 herH802 drinkH8248 the waterH4325, then it shall comeH935 to passH935, ifH518 sheH518 be defiledH2930, and have committedH4603 a trespassH4604 againstH376 herH802 husbandH376, that the waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779 shall enterH935 intoH935 herH802 and becomeH1961 bitterH4751, and herH802 bellyH990 shall swellH6638, and herH802 thighH3409 shall fallH5307 awayH5307: and the womanH802 shall be a curseH779 among herH802 peopleH5971. 28And ifH518 the womanH802 be notH3808 defiledH2930, but be cleanH2889; then sheH1931 shall be freeH5352, and shall conceiveH2232 seedH2233. 29This is the lawH8451 of jealousyH7068, when a wifeH802, being underH8478 herH802 husbandH376, goeth asideH7847, and is defiledH2930; 30or when the spiritH7307 of jealousyH7068 cometh uponH5921 a manH376, and he be jealousH7065 over his wifeH802; then shall he setH5975 the womanH802 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and the priestH3548 shall execute uponH5921 herH3605 allH3605 this lawH8451. 31And the manH376 shall be freeH5352 from iniquityH5771, and that womanH802 shall bearH5375 herH802 iniquityH5771.
