Exodus 19
American Standard Version
1In the thirdH7992 monthH2320 after the children of IsraelH3478 were goneH3318 forthH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, the same dayH3117 cameH935 they into the wildernessH4057 of SinaiH5514. 2And when they were departedH5265 from RephidimH7508, and were comeH935 to the wildernessH4057 of SinaiH5514, they encampedH2583 in the wildernessH4057; and there IsraelH3478 encampedH2583 before the mount. 3And MosesH4872 wentH5927 up unto GodH430, and Jehovah calledH7121 unto him out of the mountainH2022, sayingH559, ThusH3541 shalt thou sayH559 to the houseH1004 of JacobH3290, and tellH5046 the children of IsraelH3478: 4Ye have seenH7200 what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’H5404 wingsH3671, and broughtH935 you unto myself. 5NowH6258 thereforeH6258, if ye will obey my voiceH6963 indeed, and keepH8104 my covenantH1285, then ye shall beH1961 mine own possessionH5459 from among all peoplesH5971: for all the earthH776 is mine: 6and ye shall beH1961 unto me a kingdomH4467 of priestsH3548, and a holyH6918 nationH1471. These are the wordsH1697 which thou shalt speakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478.
7And MosesH4872 cameH935 and calledH7121 for the eldersH2205 of the peopleH5971, and setH7760 before them all these wordsH1697 which Jehovah commandedH6680 him. 8And all the peopleH5971 answered togetherH3162, and saidH559, All that Jehovah hath spokenH1696 we will do. And MosesH4872 reported the wordsH1697 of the peopleH5971 unto Jehovah. 9And Jehovah saidH559 unto MosesH4872, Lo, I comeH935 unto thee in a thick cloudH6051, that the peopleH5971 may hearH8085 when I speakH1696 with thee, and may alsoH1571 believeH539 thee for everH5769. And MosesH4872 toldH5046 the wordsH1697 of the peopleH5971 unto Jehovah. 10And Jehovah saidH559 unto MosesH4872, Go unto the peopleH5971, and sanctifyH6942 them to-day and to-morrow, and let them washH3526 their garmentsH8071, 11and beH1961 ready against the thirdH7992 dayH3117; for the thirdH7992 dayH3117 Jehovah will come down in the sight of all the peopleH5971 upon mount SinaiH5514. 12And thou shalt setH1379 bounds unto the peopleH5971 roundH5439 about, sayingH559, TakeH8104 heedH8104 to yourselves, that ye goH5927 not up into the mount, or touchH5060 the borderH7097 of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely putH4191 to deathH4191: 13no handH3027 shall touchH5060 him, but he shall surely be stonedH5619, or shotH3384 through; whether it be beast or manH376, he shall not liveH2421: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall comeH5927 up to the mount. 14And MosesH4872 wentH3381 downH3381 from the mount unto the peopleH5971, and sanctifiedH6942 the peopleH5971; and they washedH3526 their garmentsH8071. 15And he saidH559 unto the peopleH5971, BeH1961 ready against the third dayH3117: come not near a womanH802.
16And it came to pass on the thirdH7992 dayH3117, when it wasH1961 morningH1242, that there were thunders and lightningsH1300, and a thick cloudH6051 upon the mount, and the voiceH6963 of a trumpetH7782 exceeding loud; and all the peopleH5971 that were in the campH4264 trembledH2729. 17And MosesH4872 broughtH3318 forthH3318 the peopleH5971 out of the campH4264 to meet GodH430; and they stoodH3320 at the nether part of the mount. 18And mount SinaiH5514, the whole of it, smoked, because Jehovah descended upon it in fireH784; and the smokeH6227 thereof ascended as the smokeH6227 of a furnaceH3536, and the whole mount quaked greatly. 19And when the voiceH6963 of the trumpetH7782 waxed louder and louder, MosesH4872 spake, and GodH430 answeredH6030 him by a voiceH6963. 20And Jehovah cameH5927 downH3381 upon mount SinaiH5514, to the topH7218 of the mount: and Jehovah calledH7121 MosesH4872 to the topH7218 of the mount; and MosesH4872 wentH5927 up. 21And Jehovah saidH559 unto MosesH4872, GoH3381 down, charge the peopleH5971, lestH6435 they breakH2040 through unto Jehovah to gaze, and manyH7227 of them perish. 22And let the priestsH3548 alsoH1571, that come near to Jehovah, sanctifyH6942 themselves, lestH6435 Jehovah breakH6555 forth upon them. 23And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto Jehovah, The peopleH5971 cannot comeH5927 up to mount SinaiH5514: for thou didst charge us, sayingH559, SetH6942 bounds about the mount, and sanctifyH6942 it. 24And Jehovah saidH559 unto him, GoH5927, get thee downH3381; and thou shalt comeH5927 up, thou, and AaronH175 with thee: but let not the priestsH3548 and the peopleH5971 breakH2040 through to comeH5927 up unto Jehovah, lestH6435 he breakH2040 forth upon them. 25So MosesH4872 wentH3381 downH3381 unto the peopleH5971, and told them.
