Exodus 12
American Standard Version
1And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872 and AaronH175 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, sayingH559, 2This monthH2320 shall be unto you the beginning of monthsH2320: it shall be the firstH7223 monthH2320 of the yearH8141 to you. 3SpeakH1696 ye unto all the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, In the tenth day of this monthH2320 they shall takeH3947 to them every manH376 a lambH7716, according to their fathers’H1 housesH1004, a lambH7716 for a householdH1004: 4and if the householdH1004 beH1961 too littleH4591 for a lambH7716, then shall he and his neighborH7934 next unto his houseH1004 takeH3947 oneH376 according to the number of the soulsH5315; according to every man’sH376 eating ye shall makeH4591 your count for the lambH7716. 5Your lambH3532 shall beH1961 without blemish, a maleH2145 a yearH8141 old: ye shall takeH3947 it from the sheepH7716, or from the goatsH5795: 6and ye shall keepH4931 it until the fourteenth dayH3117 of the same monthH2320; and the whole assemblyH6951 of the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478 shall kill it at even. 7And they shall takeH3947 of the bloodH1818, and putH5414 it on the twoH8147 side-posts and on the lintelH4947, upon the housesH1004 wherein they shall eatH398 it. 8And they shall eatH398 the fleshH1320 in that nightH3915, roastH6748 with fireH784, and unleavenedH4682 breadH4682; with bitterH4844 herbsH4844 they shall eatH398 it. 9EatH398 not of it raw, nor boiledH1310 at all with waterH4325, but roastH6748 with fireH784; its headH7218 with its legsH3767 and with the inwards thereof. 10And ye shall let nothing of it remainH3498 until the morningH1242; but that which remaineth of it until the morningH1242 ye shall burnH8313 with fireH784. 11And thusH3602 shall ye eatH398 it: with your loinsH4975 girdedH2296, your shoes on your feetH7272, and your staffH4731 in your handH3027; and ye shall eatH398 it in hasteH2649: it is Jehovah’s passoverH6453. 12For I will go through the landH776 of EgyptH4714 in that nightH3915, and will smite all the first-born in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, both manH120 and beast; and against all the godsH430 of EgyptH4714 I will execute judgmentsH8201: I am Jehovah. 13And the bloodH1818 shall beH1961 to you for a token upon the housesH1004 whereH834 ye are: and when I seeH7200 the bloodH1818, I will pass over you, and there shall no plagueH5063 beH1961 upon you to destroy you, when I smite the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 14And this dayH3117 shall beH1961 unto you for a memorialH2146, and ye shall keep it a feastH2282 to Jehovah: throughout your generationsH1755 ye shall keep it a feastH2282 by an ordinance for everH5769.
15SevenH7651 daysH3117 shall ye eatH398 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682; even the firstH7223 dayH3117 ye shall put away leavenH7603 out of your housesH1004: for whosoever eateth leavenedH2557 breadH4682 from the firstH7223 dayH3117 until the seventhH7637 dayH3117, that soulH5315 shall be cutH3772 off from IsraelH3478. 16And in the firstH7223 dayH3117 there shall beH1961 to you a holyH6944 convocationH4744, and in the seventhH7637 dayH3117 a holyH6944 convocationH4744; no manner of workH4399 shall beH1961 done in them, save that which every man must eatH398, that onlyH389 may beH1961 done by you. 17And ye shall observeH8104 the feast of unleavenedH4682 breadH4682; for in this selfsame dayH3117 have I broughtH3318 your hostsH6635 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714: therefore shall ye observeH8104 this dayH3117 throughout your generationsH1755 by an ordinance for everH5769. 18In the firstH7223 monthH2320, on the fourteenth dayH3117 of the monthH2320 at even, ye shall eatH398 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682, until the oneH259 and twentieth dayH3117 of the monthH2320 at even. 19SevenH7651 daysH3117 shall there be no leavenH7603 foundH4672 in your housesH1004: for whosoever eateth that which is leavenedH2557, that soulH5315 shall be cutH3772 off from the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478, whether he be a sojournerH1616, or one that is born in the landH776. 20Ye shall eatH398 nothing leavenedH2557; in all your habitations shall ye eatH398 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682.
21Then MosesH4872 calledH7121 for all the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478, and saidH559 unto them, DrawH4900 out, and takeH3947 you lambs according to your familiesH4940, and kill the passoverH6453. 22And ye shall takeH3947 a bunch of hyssopH231, and dipH2881 it in the bloodH1818 that is in the basin, and strike the lintelH4947 and the twoH8147 side-posts with the bloodH1818 that is in the basin; and none of you shall goH3318 out of the doorH6607 of his houseH1004 until the morningH1242. 23For Jehovah will passH5674 through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the bloodH1818 upon the lintelH4947, and on the twoH8147 side-posts, Jehovah will passH5674 over the doorH6607, and will not suffer the destroyerH7843 to comeH935 in unto your housesH1004 to smite you. 24And ye shall observeH8104 this thingH1697 for an ordinance to thee and to thy sonsH1121 for everH5769. 25And it shall comeH935 to pass, when ye are comeH935 to the landH776 which Jehovah will giveH5414 you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keepH8104 this serviceH5656. 26And it shall come to pass, when your children shall sayH559 unto you, What mean ye by this serviceH5656? 27that ye shall sayH559, It is the sacrificeH2077 of Jehovah’s passoverH6453, who passed over the housesH1004 of the children of IsraelH3478 in EgyptH4714, whenH834 he smote the Egyptians, and deliveredH5337 our housesH1004. And the peopleH5971 bowedH7812 the head and worshipped. 28And the children of IsraelH3478 went and did soH3651; as Jehovah had commandedH6680 MosesH4872 and AaronH175, soH3651 did they.
29And it came to pass at midnight, that Jehovah smote all the first-born in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, from the first-born of PharaohH6547 that satH3427 on his throneH3678 unto the first-born of the captive that wasH1961 in the dungeon; and all the first-born of cattleH929. 30And PharaohH6547 roseH6965 up in the nightH3915, he, and all his servantsH5650, and all the Egyptians; and there was a greatH1419 cryH6818 in EgyptH4714; for there was not a houseH1004 whereH834 there was not one deadH4191. 31And he calledH7121 for MosesH4872 and AaronH175 by nightH3915, and saidH559, RiseH6965 up, get you forthH3318 from among my peopleH5971, both ye and the children of IsraelH3478; and goH3318, serveH5647 Jehovah, as ye have saidH559. 32TakeH3947 both your flocksH6629 and your herdsH1241, as ye have saidH1696, and be gone; and blessH1288 me alsoH1571. 33And the EgyptiansH4713 were urgent upon the peopleH5971, to sendH7971 them out of the landH776 in hasteH4116; for they saidH559, We are all deadH4191 men. 34And the peopleH5971 tookH5375 their doughH1217 before it was leavened, their kneading-troughs being bound up in their clothesH8071 upon their shouldersH7926. 35And the children of IsraelH3478 did according to the wordH1697 of MosesH4872; and they askedH7592 of the Egyptians jewels of silverH3701, and jewels of goldH2091, and raiment: 36and Jehovah gaveH5414 the peopleH5971 favorH2580 in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they askedH7592. And they despoiled the Egyptians.
37And the children of IsraelH3478 journeyed from RamesesH7486 to SuccothH5523, about sixH8337 hundredH3967 thousandH505 on footH7273 that were men, besides children. 38And a mixed multitude wentH5927 up alsoH1571 with them; and flocksH6629, and herdsH1241, even veryH3966 muchH7227 cattleH1241. 39And they bakedH644 unleavenedH4682 cakesH5692 of the doughH1217 which they broughtH3318 forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714; for it was not leavened, because they were thrust out of EgyptH4714, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victuals. 40Now the time that the children of IsraelH3478 dweltH3427 in EgyptH4714 was fourH702 hundredH3967 and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141. 41And it came to pass at the endH7093 of fourH702 hundredH3967 and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141, even the selfsame dayH3117 it came to pass, that all the hostsH6635 of Jehovah wentH3318 out from the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 42It is a nightH3915 to be much observed unto Jehovah for bringingH3318 them out from the landH776 of EgyptH4714: this is that nightH3915 of Jehovah, to be much observed of all the children of IsraelH3478 throughout their generationsH1755.
43And Jehovah saidH559 unto MosesH4872 and AaronH175, This is the ordinance of the passoverH6453: there shall no foreigner eatH398 thereof; 44but every man’sH376 servantH5650 that is bought for moneyH3701, when thou hast circumcisedH4135 him, thenH227 shall he eatH398 thereof. 45A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eatH398 thereof. 46In oneH259 houseH1004 shall it be eatenH398; thou shalt not carry forthH3318 aught of the fleshH1320 abroad out of the houseH1004; neither shall ye breakH7665 a boneH6106 thereof. 47All the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478 shall keep it. 48And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passoverH6453 to Jehovah, let all his malesH2145 beH1961 circumcisedH4135, and thenH227 let him come near and keep it; and he shall beH1961 as one that is born in the landH776: but no uncircumcisedH6189 person shall eatH398 thereof. 49OneH259 lawH8451 shall beH1961 to him that is home-born, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. 50ThusH3651 did all the children of IsraelH3478; as Jehovah commandedH6680 MosesH4872 and AaronH175, soH3651 did they. 51And it came to pass the selfsame dayH3117, that Jehovah did bringH3318 the children of IsraelH3478 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 by their hostsH6635.
