God’s Gracious Dealings

1“Allכָּל־kol-H3605the commandmentsהַמִּצְוָ֗הha.mitz.VahH4687that I am commandingמְצַוְּךָ֛me.tza.ve.KhaH6680you todayהַיּ֖וֹםhai.YomH3117you shall beH8104carefulH8104to doלַעֲשׂ֑וֹתla.'a.SotH6213,soלְמַ֨עַןle.Ma.'anH4616thatH4616youmay liveתִּֽחְי֜וּןtich.YunH2421and increaseוּרְבִיתֶ֗םu.re.vi.TemH7235,and goוּבָאתֶם֙u.va.TemH935inH935and takeוִֽירִשְׁתֶּ֣םvi.rish.TemH3423possessionH3423of the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776whichH834the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068sworeנִשְׁבַּ֥עnish.Ba'H7650to giveto your forefathersלַאֲבֹתֵיכֶֽם׃la.'a.vo.tei.KhemH1.

2And you shall rememberוְזָכַרְתָּ֣ve.za.khar.TaH2142allכָּל־kol-H3605the wayהַדֶּ֗רֶךְha.De.rekhH1870whichאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430hasledהֹלִֽיכֲךָ֜ho.li.kha.KhaH1980you in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֑רba.mid.BarH4057theseזֶ֛הzehH2088fortyאַרְבָּעִ֥ים'ar.ba.'ImH705yearsשָׁנָ֖הsha.NahH8141,inH4616orderH4616toH4616humbleעַנֹּֽתְךָ֜'a.no.te.KhaH6031you,puttingלְנַסֹּֽתְךָ֗le.na.so.te.KhaH5254you toH5254theH5254testH5254,to knowלָדַ֜עַתla.Da.'atH3045whatאֲשֶׁ֧ר'a.SherH834was in your heartבִּֽלְבָבְךָ֛bil.va.ve.KhaH3824,whether you would keepהֲתִשְׁמֹ֥רha.tish.MorH8104His commandmentsמִצְוֹתָ֖יוmitz.vo.tovH4687orאִם־'im-H518not.

3And He humbledוַֽיְעַנְּךָ֮vay.'a.ne.KhaH6031you and let you goH7456hungryH7456,and fedוַיַּֽאֲכִֽלְךָ֤vai.ya.'a.khil.KhaH398you with the mannaהַמָּן֙ha.ManH4478whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you did not knowיָדַ֔עְתָּya.Da'.taH3045,norH3808did your fathersאֲבֹתֶ֑יךָ'a.vo.Tei.khaH1knowיָדְע֖וּןya.de.'UnH3045,inH4616orderH4616toH4616make youunderstandהוֹדִֽעֲךָ֗ho.di.'a.KhaH3045thatmanהָֽאָדָ֔םha.'a.DamH120shall not liveיִחְיֶ֣הyich.YehH2421on breadהַלֶּ֤חֶםha.Le.chemH3899aloneלְבַדּוֹ֙le.va.DoH905,but manהָאָדָֽם׃ha.'a.DamH120shall liveיִחְיֶ֥הyich.YehH2421on everythingכָּל־kol-H3605that comesמוֹצָ֥אmo.Tza'H4161out of the mouthפִֽי־fi-H6310of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068.

4Your clothingשִׂמְלָ֨תְךָ֜sim.La.te.khaH8071did not wearH1086outH1086on you, norH3808did your footוְרַגְלְךָ֖ve.rag.le.KhaH7272swellבָצֵ֑קָהva.Tze.kahH1216theseזֶ֖הzehH2088fortyאַרְבָּעִ֥ים'ar.ba.'ImH705yearsשָׁנָֽה׃sha.NahH8141.

5So you are to knowוְיָדַעְתָּ֖ve.ya.da'.TaH3045in your heartלְבָבֶ֑ךָle.va.Ve.khaH3824that the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430was discipliningיְיַסֵּ֥רye.ya.SerH3256you justH3512asH3512a manאִישׁ֙'ishH376disciplinesמְיַסְּרֶֽךָּ׃me.ya.se.Re.kaH3256his sonבְּנ֔וֹbe.NoH1121.

6Therefore, you shall keepוְשָׁ֣מַרְתָּ֔ve.Sha.mar.taH8104the commandmentsמִצְוֹ֖תmitz.VotH4687of the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,to walkלָלֶ֥כֶתla.Le.khetH1980in His waysבִּדְרָכָ֖יוbid.ra.KhavH1870and tofearוּלְיִרְאָ֥הu.le.yir.'AhH3372Him.

7Forthe Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430is bringingמְבִֽיאֲךָ֖me.vi.'a.KhaH935you into a goodטוֹבָ֑הto.VahH2896landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776,a landאֶ֚רֶץ'E.retzH776of streamsנַ֣חֲלֵיNa.cha.leiH5158of waterמָ֔יִםMa.yimH4325,of fountainsH5871and springsוּתְהֹמֹ֔תu.te.ho.MotH8415,flowingH3318outH3318in valleysבַּבִּקְעָ֖הba.bik.'AhH1237and hillsוּבָהָֽר׃u.va.HarH2022;

8a landאֶ֤רֶץ'E.retzH776of wheatחִטָּה֙chi.TahH2406and barleyוּשְׂעֹרָ֔הu.se.'o.RahH8184,of vinesוְגֶ֥פֶןve.Ge.fenH1612,figוּתְאֵנָ֖הu.te.'e.NahH8384treesH8384,and pomegranatesוְרִמּ֑וֹןve.ri.MonH7416,a landאֶֽרֶץ־'e.retz-H776of oliveזֵ֥יתzeitH2132oilשֶׁ֖מֶןShe.menH8081and honeyוּדְבָֽשׁ׃u.de.VashH1706;

9a landאֶ֗רֶץ'E.retzH776whereאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834you will eatתֹּֽאכַל־to.khal-H398foodלֶ֔חֶםLe.chemH3899withoutH3808shortageבְמִסְכֵּנֻת֙ve.mis.ke.NutH4544,in which you will not lackתֶחְסַ֥רtech.SarH2637anythingכֹּ֖לkolH3605;a landאֶ֚רֶץ'E.retzH776whoseאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834stonesאֲבָנֶ֣יהָ'a.va.Nei.haH68are ironבַרְזֶ֔לvar.ZelH1270,and out of whose hillsH2022you can digתַּחְצֹ֥בtach.TzoH2672copperנְחֹֽשֶׁת׃ne.Cho.shetH5178.

10Whenyou have eatenוְאָכַלְתָּ֖ve.'a.khal.TaH398and areH7646satisfiedH7646,you shall blessוּבֵֽרַכְתָּ֙u.ve.rakh.TaH1288the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430for the goodהַטֹּבָ֖הha.to.VahH2896landהָאָ֥רֶץha.'A.retzH776whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834He has givenנָֽתַן־na.tan-H5414you.

11“BeH8104carefulH8104that you do notforgetתִּשְׁכַּ֖חtish.KachH7911the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430by failingלְבִלְתִּ֨יle.vil.TiH1115to keepH8104His commandmentsמִצְוֹתָיו֙mitz.vo.TavH4687,His ordinancesוּמִשְׁפָּטָ֣יוu.mish.pa.TavH4941,and His statutesוְחֻקֹּתָ֔יוve.chu.ko.TavH2708whichאֲשֶׁ֛ר'a.SherH834I am commandingמְצַוְּךָ֖me.tza.ve.KhaH6680you todayהַיּֽוֹם׃hai.YomH3117;

12otherwiseפֶּן־pen-H6435,when you eatתֹּאכַ֖לto.KhalH398and areH7646satisfiedH7646,and you buildתִּבְנֶ֖הtiv.NehH1129goodטוֹבִ֛יםto.VimH2896housesוּבָתִּ֥יםu.va.TimH1004and liveוְיָשָֽׁבְתָּ׃ve.ya.Sha.ve.taH3427in them,

13and when your herdsוּבְקָֽרְךָ֤u.ve.ka.re.ChaH1241and your flocksוְצֹֽאנְךָ֙ve.tzo.ne.KhaH6629increaseיִרְבְּיֻ֔ןyir.be.YunH7235,and your silverוְכֶ֥סֶףve.Khe.sefH3701and goldוְזָהָ֖בve.za.HavH2091increaseיִרְבֶּה־yir.beh-H7235,and everythingוְכֹ֥לve.KholH3605that you have increasesיִרְבֶּֽה׃yir.BehH7235,

14then your heartלְבָבֶ֑ךָle.va.Ve.khaH3824willbecomeH7311proudH7311and you willforgetוְשָֽׁכַחְתָּ֙ve.sha.khach.TaH7911the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430who broughtH3318you outH3318of the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֖יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,out of the houseמִבֵּ֥יתmi.BeitH1004ofslaveryעֲבָדִֽים׃'a.va.DimH5650;

15He who ledהַמּוֹלִ֨יכֲךָ֜ha.mo.Li.kha.khaH1980you throughthe greatהַגָּדֹ֣לha.ga.DolH1419and terribleוְהַנּוֹרָ֗אve.ha.no.Ra'H3372wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֣ר׀ba.mid.BarH4057, with itsfieryH8314serpentsH8314and scorpionsוְעַקְרָ֔בve.'ak.RavH6137, and itsthirstyוְצִמָּא֖וֹןve.tzi.ma.'onH6774groundH6774whereאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834thereH369wasH369noH369waterמָ֑יִםMa.yimH4325; He whobroughtH3318waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325for you outH3318of the rockמִצּ֖וּרmi.TzurH6697of flintהַֽחַלָּמִֽישׁ׃Ha.cha.la.MishH2496.

16In the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֔רba.mid.BarH4057it wasHe who fedהַמַּֽאֲכִ֨לְךָ֥ha.ma.'a.Khil.khaH398you mannaמָן֙manH4478whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834your fathersאֲבֹתֶ֑יךָ'a.vo.Tei.khaH1did not knowיָדְע֖וּןya.de.'UnH3045,inH4616orderH4616toH4616humbleעַנֹּֽתְךָ֗'a.no.te.KhaH6031you and inH4616orderH4616toH4616putנַסֹּתֶ֔ךָna.so.Te.khaH5254you toH5254theH5254testH5254,to doH3190goodלְהֵיטִֽבְךָ֖le.hei.tiv.KhaH3190for youin the endבְּאַחֲרִיתֶֽךָ׃be.'a.cha.ri.Te.khaH319.

17Otherwise,you may sayוְאָמַרְתָּ֖ve.'a.mar.TaH559in your heartבִּלְבָבֶ֑ךָbil.va.Ve.khaH3824, ‘My powerכֹּחִי֙ko.ChiH3581and the strengthוְעֹ֣צֶםve.'O.tzemH6108of my handיָדִ֔יya.DiH3027madeעָ֥שָׂה'A.sahH6213me thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088wealthהַחַ֥יִלha.Cha.yilH2428.’

18But you are to rememberוְזָֽכַרְתָּ֙ve.za.khar.TaH2142the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430, forit is He who is givingהַנֹּתֵ֥ןha.no.TenH5414you powerכֹּ֖חַKo.achH3581to makeלַעֲשׂ֣וֹתla.'a.SotH6213wealthחָ֑יִלCha.yilH2428,inH4616orderH4616toH4616confirmהָקִ֧יםha.KimH6965His covenantבְּרִית֛וֹbe.ri.ToH1285whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834He sworeנִשְׁבַּ֥עnish.Ba'H7650to your fathersלַאֲבֹתֶ֖יךָla.'a.vo.Tei.khaH1, as it isthisהַזֶּֽה׃ פha.ZehH2088dayכַּיּ֥וֹםkai.YomH3117.

19And it shall comeH1961aboutH1961,ifאִם־'im-H518you everשָׁכֹ֤חַsha.Kho.achH7911forgetתִּשְׁכַּח֙tish.KachH7911the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430and followוְהָֽלַכְתָּ֗ אַחֲרֵי֙ve.ha.lakh.Ta 'a.cha.ReiH1980 H310otherאֲחֵרִ֔ים'a.che.RimH312godsאֱלֹהִ֣ים'E.lo.HimH430and serveוַעֲבַדְתָּ֖םva.'a.vad.TamH5647and worshipH2331them,I testifyהַעִדֹ֤תִיha.'i.Do.tiH5749against you todayהַיּ֔וֹםhai.YomH3117that you will certainlyאָבֹ֖ד'a.VodH6perishתֹּאבֵדֽוּן׃toe.DunH6.

20Like the nationsכַּגּוֹיִ֗םka.go.YimH1471that the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068eliminatesמַאֲבִ֣ידma.'a.VidH6from you, soכֵּ֖ןkenH3651you shall perishתֹאבֵד֑וּןtoe.DunH6,becauseעֵ֚קֶב'E.kevH6118you would not listenתִשְׁמְע֔וּןtish.me.'UnH8085to the voiceבְּק֖וֹלbe.KolH6963of the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃ פ'e.lo.hei.KhemH430.
