47Now when Saulוְשָׁא֛וּלve.sha.'UlH7586had takenH3920controlH3920of the kingdomהַמְּלוּכָ֖הha.me.lu.KhahH4410overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,he foughtוַיִּלָּ֣חֶםvai.yi.La.chemH3898against allבְּֽכָל־be.kholH3605his enemiesH340on everyH5439sideH5439,against Moabבְּמוֹאָ֣ב׀be.mo.'AvH4124,the sonsוּבִבְנֵי־u.viv.nei-H1121of Ammonעַמּ֨וֹןa.MonH5983,EdomH112,the kingsוּבְמַלְכֵ֤יu.ve.mal.KheiH4428of Zobahצוֹבָה֙tzo.VahH6678, andthe Philistinesוּבַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםu.va.pe.lish.TimH6430;and whereverוּבְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־u.ve.Khol 'a.Sher-H3605 H834he turnedיִפְנֶ֖הyif.NehH6437, heinflictedH7561punishmentH7561.

48And he actedוַיַּ֣עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213valiantlyחַ֔יִלCha.yilH2428anddefeatedוַיַּ֖ךְvai.YakhH5221the Amalekitesעֲמָלֵ֑ק'a.ma.LekH6002,and savedוַיַּצֵּ֥לvai.ya.TzelH5337Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478from the handsמִיַּ֥דmi.YadH3027ofthose who plunderedשֹׁסֵֽהוּ׃ סsho.Se.huH8154them.

49Nowthe sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586were JonathanH3083,Ishviוְיִשְׁוִ֖יve.yish.ViH3440,and Malchi-shuaH4444;and the namesוְשֵׁם֙ve.ShemH8034of his twoשְׁתֵּ֣יshe.TeiH8147daughtersבְנֹתָ֔יוve.no.TavH1323were these:the nameשֵׁ֤םshemH8034of the firstbornהַבְּכִירָה֙ha.be.khi.RahH1067wasMerabמֵרַ֔בme.RavH4764,and the nameוְשֵׁ֥םve.ShemH8034of the youngerהַקְּטַנָּ֖הha.ke.ta.NahH6996,Michalמִיכַֽל׃mi.KhalH4324.

50And the nameוְשֵׁם֙ve.ShemH8034of Saul’sשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586wifeאֵ֣שֶׁת'E.shetH802was Ahinoamאֲחִינֹ֖עַם'a.chi.No.'amH293the daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Ahimaazאֲחִימָ֑עַץ'a.chi.Ma.'atzH290. Andthe nameוְשֵׁ֤םve.ShemH8034of the commanderשַׂר־sar-H8269of his armyצְבָאוֹ֙tze.va.'OH6635was Abnerאֲבִינֵ֔ר'a.vi.NerH74the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nerנֵ֖רnerH5369,Saul’sשָׁאֽוּל׃sha.'UlH7586uncleדּ֥וֹדDodH1730.

51Kishוְקִ֧ישׁve.KishH7027wasthe fatherאֲבִֽי־'a.vi-H1of Saulשָׁא֛וּלsha.'UlH7586,and Nerוְנֵ֥רve.NerH5369the fatherאֲבִֽי־'a.vi-H1of Abnerאַבְנֵ֖ר'av.NerH74wasthe sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Abielאֲבִיאֵֽל׃ ס'a.vi.'ElH22.

52Now the warהַמִּלְחָמָה֙ha.mil.cha.MahH4421againstעַל־'al-H5921the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430was severeחֲזָקָ֣הcha.za.KahH2389allכֹּ֖לkolH3605the daysיְמֵ֣יye.MeiH3117of Saulשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586;and when Saulשָׁא֜וּלsha.'UlH7586sawוְרָאָ֨הve.ra.'AhH7200anyכָּל־kol-H3605warriorאִ֤ישׁ גִּבּוֹר֙'ish gi.bOrH1368 H376or anyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605valiantחַ֔יִלCha.yilH2428manבֶּן־ben-H1121, heattachedוַיַּאַסְפֵ֖הוּvai.ya.'as.Fe.huH622him to his staff.
