196WhyG5101 the LawG3551 thenG3767? It was addedG4369 7becauseG5484 of transgressionsG3847, having been 8ordainedG1299 throughG1223 angelsG32 9by the 10agencyG5495 of a mediatorG3316, untilG891 11the seedG4690 would comeG2064 to whomG3739 the promiseG1861 had been madeG1861. 20NowG1161 12a mediatorG3316 is not 13for oneG1520 party only; whereasG1161 GodG2316 is only oneG1520. 21Is the LawG3551 thenG3767 contraryG2596 to the promisesG1860 of GodG2316? 14May it neverG3361 be! For 15ifG1487 a lawG3551 had been givenG1325 which was ableG1410 to impartG2227 lifeG2227, then righteousnessG1343 16would indeedG3689 have beenG1510 17basedG1537 on lawG3551. 22But the ScriptureG1124 has 18shutG4788 up 19everyoneG3956 underG5259 sinG266, soG2443 that the promiseG1860 by faithG4102 in JesusG2424 ChristG5547 might be givenG1325 to thoseG3588 who believeG4100.
23But beforeG4253 faithG4102 cameG2064, we were keptG5432 in custodyG5432 underG5259 the lawG3551, 20being shutG4788 up to the faithG4102 which was laterG3195 to be revealedG601. 24ThereforeG5620 the LawG3551 has becomeG1096 our 21tutorG3807 to lead us to ChristG5547, soG2443 that 22we may be justifiedG1344 by faithG4102.
