20SeeingG3708this,the disciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101were amazedἐθαύμασανethaumasanG2296and askedλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “HowπῶςpōsG4459did the figσυκῆ;¶sukēG4808treeG4808witherἐξηράνθηexēranthēG3583allat onceπαραχρῆμαparachrēmaG3916?”

21And JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424answeredἈποκριθεὶςApokritheisG611and saidλέγωlegōG3004to them,“TrulyἀμὴνamēnG281I sayG3004to you,ifG1437you haveἔχητεechēteG2192faithπίστινpistinG4102and do not doubtδιακριθῆτε,diakrithēteG1252,you will not onlyG3440doποιήσετε,poiēseteG4160whatG3588was done to the figσυκῆςsukēsG4808treeG4808,but evenG2579ifG2579you sayG3004to thisτούτῳtoutōG3778mountainὄρειoreiG3735, ‘Be takenἄρθητιarthētiG142up and castβλήθητιblēthētiG906into the seaθάλασσαν,thalassanG2281,’it will happenγενήσεται·genēsetaiG1096.

22AndallG3956thingsπάνταpantaG3956you askαἰτήσητεaitēsēteG154in prayerπροσευχῇproseuchēaG4335,believingπιστεύοντες,pisteuontesG4100,you will receiveλήμψεσθε.¶lēmpsestheG2983.”

23When He enteredἐλθόντοςelthontosG2064the templeG2413,the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and the eldersπρεσβύτεροιpresbuteroiG4245of the peopleλαοῦlaouG2992cameπροσῆλθονprosēlthonG4334to Himwhile He was teachingδιδάσκοντιdidaskontiG1321,and saidλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “By whatποίᾳpoiaG4169authorityἐξουσίᾳexousiaG1849are You doingποιεῖςpoieisG4160theseG3778thingsG3778,and whoτίςtisG5101gaveἔδωκενedōkenG1325You thisG3778authorityἐξουσίανexousianG1849?”

24JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424saidG3004to them,“I will alsoκἀγὼkagōkaiG2532askἐρωτήσωerōtēsōG2065you oneἕνα,henaG1520thingλόγονlogonG3056,whichὃνhonG3739ifἐὰνeanG1437you tellG3004Me, I will alsoκἀγὼkagōkaiG2532tellG3004you by whatποίᾳpoiaG4169authorityἐξουσίᾳexousiaG1849I doποιῶ.poiōG4160theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778.

25The baptismβάπτισμαbaptismaG908of JohnἸωάννουIōannouG2491was from whatπόθενpothenG4159source,from heavenοὐρανοῦouranouG3772orἢēG2228from menἀνθρώπων;¶anthrōpōnG444?” And they beganreasoningδιελογίζοντοdielogizontoG1260amongἐνenG1722themselvesἑαυτοῖςhe'autoisG1438,sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “IfἐὰνeanG1437we sayG3004, ‘From heavenοὐρανοῦ,ouranouG3772,’He will sayG3004to us, ‘ThenοὖνounG3767whyδιὰ τίdia tiG1223 G5101did you not believeἐπιστεύσατεepisteusateG4100him?’

26But ifἐὰνeanG1437we sayG3004, ‘From menἀνθρώπων,anthrōpōnG444,’we fearφοβούμεθαphoboumethaG5399thepeopleὄχλον·ochlonG3793;for they allπάντεςpantesG3956regardἔχουσινechousinG2192JohnἸωάννην.¶IōannēnG2491asa prophetπροφήτηνprophētēnG4396.”

27And answeringἀποκριθέντεςapokrithentesG611JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424,they saidG3004, “We do not knowG3609.”He alsoG2532saidἔφηephēG5346to them,“NeitherοὐδὲoudeG3761will I tellλέγωlegōG3004you by whatποίᾳpoiaG4169authorityἐξουσίᾳexousiaG1849I doποιῶ.¶poiōG4160theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778.

28“But whatΤίTiG5101do you thinkδοκεῖ;dokeiG1380?A manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444hadεἶχενeichenG2192twoδύο,duoG1417sonsτέκναteknaG5043,and he cameπροσελθὼνproselthōnG4334to the firstπρώτῳprōtōG4413and saidG3004, ‘Sonτέκνον,teknonG5043,goὕπαγεhupageG5217workἐργάζουergazouG2038todayσήμερονsēmeronG4594in thevineyardἀμπελῶνιampelōniG290.’

29And he answeredἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611, ‘I will not’; but afterwardG5305he regrettedμεταμεληθεὶςmetamelētheisG3338it and wentἀπῆλθεν.apēlthenG565.
