3When HerodἩρῴδηςHērōdēsG2264the kingβασιλεὺςbasileusG935heardἈκούσαςAkousasG191this,he was troubledἐταράχθηetarachthēG5015,and allπᾶσαpasaG3956JerusalemἹεροσόλυμαHi'erosolumaG2414with him.

4GatheringG4863togetherσυναγαγὼνsunagagōnG4863allπάνταςpantasG3956the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and scribesγραμματεῖςgrammateisG1122of the peopleλαοῦlaouG2992,he inquiredἐπυνθάνετοepunthanetoG4441of them whereποῦpouG4226theMessiahχριστὸςchristosG5547was to be bornγεννᾶται.gennataiG1080.

5They saidG3004to him, “In BethlehemΒηθλέεμBēthleemG965of JudeaG2453;for thisοὕτωςhoutōsG3779is whatG3704has been writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125by the prophetπροφήτου·prophētouG4396:

6‘And you, BethlehemβηθλέεμbēthleemG965,landγῆgēG1093of JudahG2455,Are by noG3760meansG3760leastἐλαχίστηelachistēG1646amongἐνenG1722the leadersG2233of JudahG2455;For out of you shall comeG1831forthἐξελεύσεταιexeleusetaiG1831a RulerG2233WhoὅστιςhostisG3748willshepherdποιμανεῖpoimaneiG4165My peopleλαόνlaonG2992IsraelἸσραήλ.¶IsraēlG2474.’”

9AfterδὲdeG1161hearingἀκούσαντεςakousantesG191the kingβασιλέωςbasileōsG935,they wentG4198their wayG4198;and the starἀστὴρastērG792,whichὃνhonG3739they had seenG3708in the eastἀνατολῇanatolēaG395,wentG4254on beforeG4254them untilἕωςhe'ōsG2193it cameἐλθὼνelthōnG2064and stoodἐστάθηestathēG2476overἐπάνωepanōG1883the placewhereοὗhouG3757the Childπαιδίον.paidionG3813was.

10When they sawG3708the starἀστέραasteraG792,they rejoicedἐχάρησανecharēsanG5463exceedinglyσφόδρα,sphodraG4970with greatμεγάληνmegalēnG3173joyχαρὰνcharanG5479.
