Judges 20:36-46
And the children of BenjaminH1144 sawH7200 that they were smitten. — And the menH376 of IsraelH3478 gaveH5414 placeH4725 to BenjaminH1144, because they trustedH982 to the ambushH693 that they had setH7760 against GibeahH1390.
And the ambushH693 hasted, and fell upon GibeahH1390; and the ambushH693 drewH4900 along, and smote the whole cityH5892 with the edge of the swordH2719.
Now there wasH1961 an appointedH4150 sign between the menH376 of IsraelH3478 and the ambushH693, that they should make a thick column of smokeH6227 rise up out of the cityH5892.
And when the menH376 of IsraelH3478 turnedH2015 backH2015 in the battleH4421, BenjaminH1144 beganH2490 to smite, slaying of the menH376 of IsraelH3478 about thirtyH7970 menH376; for they saidH559, Surely they are quite routed before us as in the firstH7223 battleH4421.
And when the burning beganH2490 to rise up out of the cityH5892 as a pillarH5982 of smokeH6227, BenjaminH1144 looked behind, and behold, the wholeH3632 cityH5892 ascended [in smokeH6227] to the heavensH8064.
Then the menH376 of IsraelH3478 turnedH2015 backH2015, and the menH376 of BenjaminH1144 were amazed, for they sawH7200 that disaster was come upon them.
And they turnedH6437 before the menH376 of IsraelH3478 to the wayH1870 of the wildernessH4057; but the battleH4421 overtookH1692 them; and those who came out of the citiesH5892 destroyedH7843 them in their midstH8432.
They encompassed the Benjaminites, chased them, trode them downH1869 at the resting-place over against GibeahH1390 toward the sun-rising.
And there fellH5307 of BenjaminH1144 eighteen thousandH505 menH376: all these, menH376 of valour.
And they turnedH6437 and fledH5127 towards the wildernessH4057 to the cliffH5553 of RimmonH7417, and they gleaned of them in the highwaysH4546 fiveH2568 thousandH505 menH376; and pursued hard after them to Gidom, and slew two thousandH505 menH376 of them.
So that all who fellH5307 that dayH3117 of BenjaminH1144 wereH1961 twenty-five thousandH505 menH376 that drewH8025 the swordH2719: all these, menH376 of valour.
