Judges 20:36-46
36So the childrenH1121 of BenjaminH1144 sawH7200 that they were smittenH5062: for the menH376 of IsraelH3478 gaveH5414 placeH4725 to the BenjamitesH1145, because they trustedH982 to the ones lying in ambushH693 which they had setH7760 beside GibeahH1390. 37And those in ambushH693 hastenedH2363, and rushedH6584 upon GibeahH1390; and the ones lying in ambushH693 drew themselves alongH4900, and smoteH5221 all the cityH5892 with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719.1 38Now there was an appointed signH4150 between the menH376 of IsraelH3478 andH5973 the men in ambushH693, that they should make a greatH7235 flameH4864 with smokeH6227 to ascend upH5927 from the cityH5892.234 39And when the menH376 of IsraelH3478 retiredH2015 in the battleH4421, BenjaminH1144 beganH2490 to smiteH5221 and killH2491 of the menH376 of IsraelH3478 about thirtyH7970 personsH376: for they saidH559, SurelyH5062 they are smitten downH5062 beforeH6440 us, as in the firstH7223 battleH4421.5 40But when the flameH4864 beganH2490 to ascend upH5927 from the cityH5892 with a pillarH5982 of smokeH6227, the BenjamitesH1145 lookedH6437 behindH310 them, and, behold, the flameH3632 of the cityH5892 ascended upH5927 to heavenH8064.6 41And when the menH376 of IsraelH3478 turned againH2015, the menH376 of BenjaminH1144 were amazedH926: for they sawH7200 that evilH7451 had comeH5060 upon them.7 42Therefore they turnedH6437 their backs beforeH6440 the menH376 of IsraelH3478 to the wayH1870 of the wildernessH4057; but the battleH4421 overtookH1692 them; and those who came out of the citiesH5892 they destroyedH7843 in the midstH8432 of them. 43Thus they inclosedH3803 the BenjamitesH1145 on all sidesH3803, and chasedH7291 them, and trod them downH1869 with easeH4496 oppositeH5227 GibeahH1390 toward the sunrisingH4217H8121.89 44And there fellH5307 of BenjaminH1144 eighteenH8083H6240 thousandH505 menH376; all these were menH582 of valourH2428. 45And they turnedH6437 and fledH5127 toward the wildernessH4057 to the rockH5553 of RimmonH7417: and they gleanedH5953 of them in the highwaysH4546 fiveH2568 thousandH505 menH376; and pursuedH1692 hard afterH310 them to GidomH1440, and slewH5221 two thousandH505 menH376 of them. 46So that all who fellH5307 that dayH3117 of BenjaminH1144 were twentyH6242 and fiveH2568 thousandH505 menH376 that drewH8025 the swordH2719; all these were menH582 of valourH2428.
