1 Chronicles 17
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass as DavidH1732 dweltH3427 in his houseH1004, that DavidH1732 saidH559 to NathanH5416 the prophetH5030, Behold, I dwellH3427 in a houseH1004 of cedars, and the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of Jehovah under curtainsH3407. 2And NathanH5416 saidH559 to DavidH1732, Do all that is in thy heartH3824; for 1GodH430 is with thee. 3And it came to pass that nightH3915 that the wordH1697 of 2GodH430 came to NathanH5416 sayingH559, 4Go and sayH559 to DavidH1732 my servantH5650, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: Thou shalt not buildH1129 me a houseH1004 to dwellH3427 in; 5for I have not dweltH3427 in a houseH1004 since the dayH3117 that I broughtH5927 up IsraelH3478 to this dayH3117; but I have beenH1961 from tentH168 to tentH168, and from [oneH2088] tabernacleH4908 [to another]. 6In all my goingH1980 about with all IsraelH3478, did I speakH1696 a wordH1697 to any of the judgesH8199 of IsraelH3478, whom I commandedH6680 to feedH7462 my peopleH5971, sayingH559, WhyH4100 buildH1129 ye me not a houseH1004 of cedars? 7And nowH6258, thusH3541 shalt thou sayH559 unto my servantH5650 DavidH1732, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: I tookH3947 thee from the pasture-grounds, from following the sheepH6629, to beH1961 princeH5057 over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478; 8and I have beenH1961 with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cutH3772 off all thine enemiesH341 from before thee, and have madeH6213 thee a nameH8034, like unto the nameH8034 of the greatH1419 men that are on the earthH776. 9And I will appointH7760 a placeH4725 for my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and will plantH5193 them, that they may dwellH7931 in a placeH4725 of their own, and be disturbed no more; neither shall the sonsH1121 of wickedness waste them any more, as formerly, 10and since the daysH3117 that I commandedH6680 judgesH8199 to be over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478. And I will subdueH3665 all thine enemiesH341; and I tellH5046 thee that Jehovah will buildH1129 thee a houseH1004. 11And it shall come to pass, when thy daysH3117 are fulfilled that thou must go [to beH1961] with thy fathersH1, that I will setH6965 up thy seedH2233 after thee, which shall beH1961 of thy sonsH1121; and I will establishH6965 his kingdomH4438. 12It is he who shall buildH1129 me a houseH1004, and I will establishH3559 his throneH3678 for everH5769. 13I will beH1961 his fatherH1, and he shall beH1961 my sonH1121; and I will not take awayH5493 my mercy from him, as I took it from him that wasH1961 before thee; 14and I will settle him in my houseH1004 and in my kingdomH4438 for everH5769; and his throneH3678 shall beH1961 establishedH3559 for everH5769. 15According to all these wordsH1697, and according to all this visionH2377, soH3651 did NathanH5416 speakH1696 to DavidH1732. 16And kingH4428 DavidH1732 wentH935 in and satH3427 before Jehovah, and saidH559, Who am I, Jehovah Elohim, and what is my houseH1004, that thou hast broughtH935 me hitherto? 17And this hath been a smallH6994 thing in thy sight, O 3GodH430; and thou hast spokenH1696 of thy servant's houseH1004 for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the rank of a manH120 of high degree, Jehovah Elohim. 18What can DavidH1732 [say] more to thee for the gloryH3519 of thy servantH5650? thou indeed knowest thy servantH5650. 19Jehovah, for thy servant's sakeH5668, and according to thine own heartH3820, hast thou done all this greatnessH1420, to makeH6213 knownH3045 all these great things. 20Jehovah, there is none like thee, neither is there any 4GodH430 beside thee, according to all that we have heardH8085 with our earsH241. 21And who is like thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, the oneH259 nationH1471 in the earthH776 that 5GodH430 wentH1980 to redeemH6299 to be a peopleH5971 to himself, to makeH7760 thee a nameH8034 of greatnessH1420 and terribleness, by drivingH1644 out nationsH1471 from before thy peopleH5971, which thou hast redeemedH6299 out of EgyptH4714? 22And thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 hast thou madeH5414 thine own peopleH5971 for everH5769; and thou, Jehovah, art becomeH1961 their 6GodH430. 23And nowH6258, Jehovah, let the wordH1697 that thou hast spokenH1696 concerning thy servantH5650 and concerning his houseH1004 be establishedH539 for everH5769, and do as thou hast saidH1696. 24Let it even be establishedH3559, and let thy nameH8034 be magnifiedH1431 for everH5769, sayingH559, Jehovah of hostsH6635, the 7GodH430 of IsraelH3478, is 8GodH430 to IsraelH3478; and let the houseH1004 of DavidH1732 thy servantH5650 be establishedH3559 before thee. 25For thou, my 9GodH430, hast revealedH1540 to thy servantH5650 that thou wilt buildH1129 him a houseH1004; thereforeH3651 hath thy servantH5650 foundH4672 [in his heart] to prayH6419 before thee. 26And nowH6258, Jehovah, thou art that 10GodH430, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servantH5650; 27and nowH6258, let it please thee to blessH1288 the houseH1004 of thy servantH5650, that it may beH1961 before thee for everH5769; for thou, Jehovah, hast blessedH1288 [it], and it shall beH1961 blessedH1288 for everH5769.
