1 Chronicles 17
Revised Version 1895
1And it cameH1961 to passH1961, when DavidH1732 dweltH3427 in his houseH1004, that DavidH1732 saidH559 to NathanH5416 the prophetH5030, LoH2009, I dwellH3427 in an houseH1004 of cedar, but the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068 dwelleth underH8478 curtainsH3407. 2And NathanH5416 saidH559 unto DavidH1732, DoH6213 allH3605 that is in thine heartH3824; for GodH430 is with thee. 3And it cameH1961 to passH1961 the sameH1931 nightH3915, that the wordH1697 of GodH430 cameH1961 to NathanH5416, sayingH559, 4Go and tellH559 DavidH1732 my servantH5650, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, Thou shalt notH3808 buildH1129 meH413 an houseH1004 to dwellH3427 in: 5for I have notH3808 dweltH3427 in an houseH1004 sinceH3588 the dayH3117 that I broughtH5927 upH5927 IsraelH3478, unto this dayH3117; but have goneH5927 from tentH168 to tentH168, and from one tabernacleH4908 to anotherH2088. 6In allH3605 placesH1004 whereinH834 I have walkedH1980 with allH3605 IsraelH3478, spake I a wordH1697 with anyH3605 of the judgesH8199 of IsraelH3478, whomH834 I commandedH6680 to feedH7462 my peopleH5971, sayingH559, WhyH4100 have ye notH3808 builtH1129 meH1696 an houseH1004 of cedar? 7NowH6258 therefore thusH3541 shalt thou sayH559 unto my servantH5650 DavidH1732, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, I tookH3947 thee from the sheepcote, from followingH310 the sheepH6629, that thou shouldest be princeH5057 over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478: 8and I have been with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cutH3772 offH3772 allH3605 thine enemiesH341 from beforeH6440 thee; and I will makeH6213 thee a nameH8034, like unto the nameH8034 of the greatH1419 onesH1419 that are in the earthH776. 9And I will appointH7760 a placeH4725 for my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and will plantH5193 them, that they may dwellH7931 in their own placeH4725, and be movedH7264 noH3808 moreH5750; neitherH3808 shall the childrenH1121 of wickednessH5766 wasteH1086 them anyH5750 moreH5750, as at the firstH7223, 10and as from the dayH3117 that I commandedH6680 judgesH8199 to be over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478; and I will subdueH3665 allH3605 thine enemiesH341. Moreover I tellH5046 thee that the LORDH3068 will buildH1129 thee an houseH1004. 11And it shall comeH1961 to passH1961, when thy daysH3117 be fulfilledH4390 that thou mustH853 goH6965 to be with thy fathersH1, that I will setH6965 upH6965 thy seedH2233 afterH310 thee, whichH834 shall be of thy sonsH1121; and I will establishH6965 his kingdomH4438. 12He shall buildH1129 meH1004 an houseH1004, and I will establishH3559 his throneH3678 for everH5769. 13I will be his fatherH1, and he shall be my sonH1121: and I will notH3808 takeH5493 my mercy awayH5493 from him, as I tookH5493 it from him that was beforeH6440 thee: 14but I will settle him in mine houseH1004 and in my kingdomH4438 for everH5769: and his throneH3678 shall be establishedH3559 for everH5769. 15AccordingH413 to allH3605 theseH428 wordsH1697, and accordingH413 to allH3605 this visionH2377, soH3651 didH3651 NathanH5416 speakH1696 unto DavidH1732. 16Then DavidH1732 the kingH4428 wentH935 in, and satH3427 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068; and he saidH559, Who am I, O LORDH3068 GodH430, and whatH4310 is my houseH1004, that thou hast broughtH935 meH6440 thus farH5704? 17And this was a smallH6994 thingH2063 in thine eyesH5869, O GodH430; but thou hast spokenH1696 of thy servant’sH5650 houseH1004 for a greatH430 whileH5921 to comeH7350, and hast regardedH7200 meH5921 accordingH5921 to the estateH1004 of a manH120 of high degree, O LORDH3068 GodH430. 18WhatH4100 canH4100 DavidH1732 sayH3254 yet moreH5750 unto thee concerning the honour whichH4100 is doneH3254 to thy servantH5650? for thou knowest thy servantH5650. 19O LORDH3068, for thy servant’sH5650 sakeH5668, and according to thine own heartH3820, hast thou wrought allH3605 this greatnessH1420, to makeH6213 knownH3045 allH3605 theseH2063 greatH1420 things. 20O LORDH3068, there is noneH369 like thee, neitherH369 is there anyH3605 GodH430 beside thee, according to allH3605 that weH834 have heardH8085 with our earsH241. 21And whatH834 one nationH1471 in the earthH776 is like thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, whomH834 GodH430 wentH1980 to redeemH6299 unto himselfH6440 for a peopleH5971, to makeH7760 thee a nameH8034 by greatH1420 and terrible things, in drivingH1644 outH1644 nationsH1471 from beforeH6440 thy peopleH5971, whichH834 thou redeemedst outH1644 of EgyptH4714? 22For thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 didst thou makeH5414 thine ownH1961 peopleH5971 for everH5769; and thou, LORDH3068, becamest their GodH430. 23And nowH6258, O LORDH3068, letH6258 the wordH1697 that thou hast spokenH1696 concerning thy servantH5650, and concerning his houseH1004, be establishedH539 for everH5769, and doH6213 as thou hast spokenH1696. 24And let thy nameH8034 be establishedH3559 and magnifiedH1431 for everH5769, sayingH559, The LORDH3068 of hostsH6635 is the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, evenH5704 a GodH430 to IsraelH3478: and the houseH1004 of DavidH1732 thy servantH5650 is establishedH3559 beforeH6440 thee. 25For thou, O my GodH430, hast revealedH1540 to thy servantH5650 that thou wilt buildH1129 him an houseH1004: therefore hath thy servantH5650 foundH4672 in his heart to prayH6419 beforeH6440 thee. 26And nowH6258, O LORDH3068, thou art GodH430, and hast promisedH1696 this goodH2896 thingH2063 unto thy servantH5650: 27and nowH6258 it hath pleasedH2974 thee to blessH1288 the houseH1004 of thy servantH5650, that it may continueH1961 for everH5769 beforeH6440 thee: for thou, O LORDH3068, hast blessedH1288, and it is blessedH1288 for everH5769.
