1Now the LORDH3068 spokeH1696 toH413 MosesH4872 afterH310 the deathH4194 of twoH8147 of Aaron’sH175 sonsH1121 when they approachedH7126 the presenceH6440 of the LORDH3068. 2And the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872: “TellH1696 your brotherH251 AaronH175 notH408 to enterH935 freelyH3605H6256 intoH413 the Most Holy PlaceH69441 behindH1004 the veilH6532 inH413 frontH6440 of the mercy seatH37272 onH5921 the arkH727, or elseH3808 he will dieH4191, becauseH3588 I appearH7200 in the cloudH6051 aboveH5921 the mercy seatH3727.

3This is howH2063 AaronH175 is to enterH935H413 the Holy PlaceH6944: with a young bullH6499H1121H1241 for a sin offeringH2403 and a ramH352 for a burnt offeringH5930. 4He is to wearH3847 the sacredH6944 linenH906 tunicH3801, with linenH906 undergarmentsH4370. He must tieH2296 a linenH906 sashH73 around himH906 and put on the linenH6801 turbanH4701. TheseH1992 are holyH6944 garmentsH899, and he must batheH7364 himselfH1320 with waterH4325 before he wears themH3847. 5AndH854 he shall takeH3947 from the congregationH5712H1121 of IsraelH3478 twoH8147 male goatsH8163H5795 for a sin offeringH2403 and oneH259 ramH352 for a burnt offeringH5930.

6AaronH175 is to presentH7126 the bullH6499 for his sin offeringH2403 and make atonementH3722 forH1157 himselfH1157 and his householdH1004. 7Then he shall takeH3947 the twoH8147 goatsH8163 and presentH5975 themH853 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 at the entranceH6607 to the TentH168 of MeetingH4150.

8After AaronH175 castsH5414 lotsH1486 forH5921 the twoH8147 goatsH8163, oneH259 for the LORDH3068H1486 and the otherH259 for the scapegoatH5799,3 9heH175 shall presentH7126 the goatH8163 chosenH5927H5921 by lotH1486 for the LORDH3068 and sacrificeH6213 it as a sin offeringH2403. 10But the goatH8163 chosenH5927 byH5921 lotH1486 as the scapegoatH5799 shall be presentedH5975 aliveH2416 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 to make atonementH3722H5921 by sendingH7971 it into the wildernessH4057 as the scapegoatH5799.

11When AaronH175 presentsH7126 the bullH6499 for his sin offeringH2403 and makes atonementH3722 for himselfH1157 and his householdH1004, he is to slaughterH7819 the bullH6499 for his own sin offeringH2403. 12Then he must takeH3947 a censerH4289 fullH4393 of burningH784 coalsH1513 fromH5921 the altarH4196 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and two handfulsH4393H2651 of finely groundH1851 fragrantH5561 incenseH7004, and take themH935 insideH1004 the veilH6532. 13He is to putH5414 the incenseH7004 onH5921 the fireH784 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and the cloudH6051 of incenseH7004 will coverH3680 the mercy seatH3727 aboveH5921 the TestimonyH5715,4 so that he will notH3808 dieH4191. 14And he is to takeH3947 some of the bull’sH6499 bloodH1818 and sprinkleH5137 it with his fingerH676 onH5921 the eastH6924 sideH6440 of the mercy seatH3727; then he shall sprinkleH5137 some ofH4480 it with his fingerH676 sevenH7651 timesH6471 beforeH6440 the mercy seatH3727.

15Aaron shall then slaughterH7819 the goatH8163 for the sin offeringH2403 for the peopleH5971 and bringH935 its bloodH1818H413 behindH1004 the veilH6532H854, and with its bloodH1818 he must doH6213 asH834 he didH6213 with the bull’sH6499 bloodH1818: He is to sprinkleH5137 it againstH5921 the mercy seatH3727 and in frontH6440 of itH3727.

16So he shall make atonementH3722 forH5921 the Most Holy PlaceH6944 because of the impuritiesH2932 and rebellious actsH6588 of the IsraelitesH1121H3478 in regard to allH3605 their sinsH2403. He is to doH6213 the sameH3651 for the TentH168 of MeetingH4150 which abidesH7931 among themH854 in the midstH8432 of their impuritiesH2932. 17NoH3605H3808 oneH120 may beH1961 in the TentH168 of MeetingH4150 from the time Aaron goes inH935 to make atonementH3722 in the Most Holy PlaceH6944 untilH5704 he leavesH3318, after he has made atonementH3722 for himselfH1157, his householdH1004H1157, and the wholeH3605 assemblyH6951 of IsraelH3478.

18Then he shall go outH3318 toH413 the altarH4196 thatH834 is beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 and make atonementH3722 for itH5921. He is to takeH3947 some of the bull’sH6499 bloodH1818 and some of the goat’sH8163 bloodH1818 and put itH5414 onH5921 allH5439 the hornsH7161 of the altarH4196. 19He is to sprinkleH5137 some ofH4480 the bloodH1818 on itH5921 with his fingerH676 sevenH7651 timesH6471 to cleanse itH2891 and consecrate itH6942 from the uncleannessH2932 of the IsraelitesH1121H3478.

20When Aaron has finishedH3615 purifyingH3722 the Most Holy PlaceH6944, the TentH168 of MeetingH4150, and the altarH4196, he is to bring forwardH7126 the liveH2416 goatH8163. 21ThenH175 he is to layH5564 bothH8147 handsH3027 onH5921 the headH7218 of the liveH2416 goatH8163 and confessH3034 overH5921 itH853 allH3605 the iniquitiesH5771 and rebellious actsH6588 of the IsraelitesH1121H3478 in regard toH3605 allH3605 their sinsH2403. He is to putH5414 themH853 onH5921 the goat’sH8163 headH7218 and send it awayH7971 into the wildernessH4057 by the handH3027 of a manH376 appointed for the taskH6261. 22The goatH8163 will carryH5375 onH5921 itselfH853 allH3605 their iniquitiesH5771 intoH413 a solitaryH1509 placeH776, and the man will releaseH7971 it into the wildernessH4057.

23Then AaronH175 is to enterH935H413 the TentH168 of MeetingH4150, take offH6584 the linenH906 garmentsH899 he put onH3847 before enteringH935H413 the Most Holy PlaceH6944, and leave themH5117 thereH8033. 24He is to batheH7364 himselfH1320 with waterH4325 in a holyH6918 placeH4725 and put onH3847 his own clothesH899. Then he must go outH3318 and sacrificeH6213 his burnt offeringH5930 and the people’sH5971 burnt offeringH5930 to make atonementH3722 forH1157 himselfH1157 and for the peopleH5971. 25He is also to burnH6999 the fatH2459 of the sin offeringH2403 on the altarH4196.

26The man who releasedH7971 the goatH8163 as the scapegoatH5799 must washH3526 his clothesH899 and batheH7364 himselfH1320 with waterH4325; afterwardH310H3651 he may reenterH935H413 the campH4264.

The bullH6499 for the sin offeringH2403 and the goatH8163 for the sin offeringH2403, whoseH834 bloodH1818 was broughtH935 into the Most Holy PlaceH6944 to make atonementH3722, must be takenH3318 outsideH413H2351 the campH4264; and their hidesH5785, fleshH1320, and dungH6569 must be burned upH8313H784. 28The one who burnsH8313 themH853 must washH3526 his clothesH899 and batheH7364 himselfH1320 with waterH4325, and afterwardH310H3651 he may reenterH935H413 the campH4264.

29This is to beH1961 a permanentH5769 statuteH2708 for you: On the tenthH6218 dayH2320 of the seventhH7637 monthH2320, you shall humbleH6031 yourselvesH53155 and not doH6213 anyH3605 workH4399—whether the nativeH249 or the foreignerH1616 who residesH1481 among youH8432— 30becauseH3588 on thisH2088 dayH3117 atonement will be madeH3722 for youH5921 to cleanseH2891 youH853, and you will be cleanH2891 from allH3605 your sinsH2403 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068. 31ItH1931 is a SabbathH7676 of complete restH7677 for you, that you may humbleH6031 yourselvesH5315; it is a permanentH5769 statuteH2708.

32The priestH3548 whoH834 is anointedH4886 and ordainedH4390 to succeedH3547H8478 his father as high priestH1 shall make atonementH3722. He will put onH3847 the sacredH6944 linenH906 garmentsH899 33and make atonementH3722 for the Most Holy PlaceH4720H6944,6 the TentH168 of MeetingH4150, and the altarH4196, and forH5921 the priestsH3548H5921 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 of the assemblyH6951. 34ThisH2063 is to beH1961 a permanentH5769 statuteH2708 for you, to make atonementH3722 onceH259 a yearH8141 forH5921 the IsraelitesH1121H3478 because of allH3605 their sinsH2403.”

And all this was doneH6213 asH834 the LORDH3068 had commandedH6680 MosesH4872.
