“TellH1696 your brotherH251 AaronH175 that he shall not enterH935 2at 3anyH3605 timeH6256 into the HolyH6944 PlaceH6944 insideH4480H1004 the veilH6532, beforeH413H6440 the 4atoningH3727 coverH3727 whichH834 is on the arkH727, orH3808 he will dieH4191; for 5I will appearH7200 in the cloudH6051 overH5921 the 6atoningH3727 coverH3727. 3AaronH175 shall enterH935 the HolyH6944 PlaceH6944 with thisH2088: with a 7bullH6499H1121H1241 as a 89sinH2403 offeringH2403 and a ramH352 as a burntH5930 offeringH5930. 4He shall putH3847 onH3847 the 10holyH6944 linenH906 tunicH3801, and the linenH906 undergarmentsH4370 shall be nextH5921 to his 11bodyH1320, and he shall be wrappedH2296 aboutH2296 theH2296 waistH2296 with the linenH906 sashH73 and the linenH906 turbanH4701 woundH6801 aroundH6801 his forehead (theseH1992 are holyH6944 garmentsH899). He shall 12batheH7364 his 13bodyH1320 in waterH4325 and putH3847 them onH3847. 5And he shall takeH3947 from the congregationH5712 of the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 14twoH8147 maleH8163 goatsH5795 as a 15sinH2403 offeringH2403, and oneH259 ramH352 as a burntH5930 offeringH5930. 6Then 16AaronH175 shall offerH7126 the bullH6499 as the 17sinH2403 offeringH2403, whichH834 is for himself, so that he may makeH3722 atonementH3722 for himself and for his householdH1004. 7He shall then takeH3947 the twoH8147 goatsH8163 and presentH5975 them beforeH6440 the LordH3068 at the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150. 8AaronH175 shall castH5414 lotsH1486 for the twoH8147 goatsH8163, oneH259 lotH1486 for the LordH3068 and the otherH259 lotH1486 for 18the 19scapegoatH5799. 9Then AaronH175 shall offerH7126 the goatH5795 on whichH834 the lotH1486 for the LordH3068 fellH5927, and makeH6213 it a 20sinH2403 offeringH2403. 10But the goatH5795 on whichH834 the lotH1486 for 21the 22scapegoatH5799 fellH5927 shall be presentedH5975 aliveH2416 beforeH6440 the LordH3068, to makeH3722 23atonementH3722 upon it, to sendH7971 it into the wildernessH4057 24as the 25scapegoatH5799.

11“Then AaronH175 shall offerH7126 the bullH6499 of the 26sinH2403 offeringH2403 27whichH834 is for himself and makeH3722 atonementH3722 for himself and 28for his householdH1004, and he shall slaughterH7819 the bullH6499 of the 29sinH2403 offeringH2403 whichH834 is for himself. 12He shall takeH3947 a 30firepanH4289 fullH4393 of coalsH1513 of fireH784 from upon the altarH4196 beforeH4480H6440 the LordH3068 and 31two handfulsH4393H2651 of finelyH1851 groundH1851 32sweetH5561 incenseH7004, and bringH935 it insideH4480H1004 the veilH6532. 13He shall putH5414 the incenseH7004 on the fireH784 beforeH6440 the LordH3068, so that the cloudH6051 of incenseH7004 may coverH3680 the 33atoningH3727 coverH3727 that is on the ark of the testimonyH5715, 34otherwiseH3808 he will dieH4191. 14Moreover, 35he shall takeH3947 someH4480 of the bloodH1818 of the bullH6499 and sprinkleH5137 it 36with his fingerH676 on the atoningH3727 coverH3727 on the eastH6924 side; also in frontH6440 of the atoningH3727 coverH3727 he shall sprinkleH5137 someH4480 of the bloodH1818 with his fingerH676 sevenH7651 timesH6471.

15“Then he shall slaughterH7819 the goatH5795 of the sinH2403 offeringH2403, 37whichH834 is for the peopleH5971, and bringH935 its bloodH1818 insideH413H4480H1004 the veilH6532 and doH6213 with its bloodH1818 as he didH6213 with the bloodH1818 of the bullH6499, and sprinkleH5137 it on the atoningH3727 coverH3727 and in frontH6440 of the atoningH3727 coverH3727. 1638He shall makeH3722 atonementH3722 for the HolyH6944 PlaceH6944, becauseH4480 of the impuritiesH2932 of the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 and becauseH4480 of their unlawfulH6588 actsH6588 regarding allH3605 their sinsH2403; and he shall doH6213 soH3651 for the tentH168 of meetingH4150 which remainsH7931 with them in the midstH8432 of their impuritiesH2932. 17When he goesH935 inH935 to makeH3722 atonementH3722 in the HolyH6944 PlaceH6944, noH3808 oneH120 shall be in the tentH168 of meetingH4150 untilH5704 he comesH3318 outH3318, so that he may makeH3722 atonementH3722 for himself and for his householdH1004, and for allH3605 the assemblyH6951 of IsraelH3478. 18Then he shall goH3318 outH3318 to the altarH4196 that is beforeH6440 the LordH3068 and makeH3722 atonementH3722 for it; he shall takeH3947 someH4480 of the bloodH1818 from the bullH6499 and some of the bloodH1818 from the goatH5795, and 39putH5414 it on the hornsH7161 of the altarH4196 on allH5439 sidesH5439. 1940With his fingerH676 he shall sprinkleH5137 someH4480 of the bloodH1818 on it sevenH7651 timesH6471 and cleanseH2891 it, and consecrateH6942 it from the impuritiesH2932 of the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478.

20“When he finishesH3615 atoningH3722 for the HolyH6944 PlaceH6944 and the tentH168 of meetingH4150 and the altarH4196, he shall offerH7126 the liveH2416 goatH5795. 21Then AaronH175 shall layH5564 bothH8147 of his handsH3027 on the headH7218 of the liveH2416 goatH5795, and 41confessH3034 overH5921 it allH3605 the wrongdoingsH5771 of the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 and allH3605 their unlawfulH6588 actsH6588 regarding allH3605 their sinsH2403; and he shall placeH5414 them on the headH7218 of the goatH5795 and sendH7971 it awayH7971 into the wildernessH4057 by the handH3027 of a manH376 who stands readyH6261. 22Then the goatH5795 shall carryH5375 on itself allH3605 their wrongdoingsH5771 to an 42isolatedH1509 territoryH776; he shall releaseH7971 the goatH8163 in the wildernessH4057.

23“Then AaronH175 shall comeH935 into the tentH168 of meetingH4150 and takeH6584 offH6584 43the linenH906 garmentsH899 whichH834 he putH3847 onH3847 when he wentH935 into the HolyH6944 PlaceH6944, and shall leaveH5117 them thereH8033. 24And 44he shall batheH7364 his 45bodyH1320 with waterH4325 in a holyH6918 placeH4725 and putH3847 onH3847 46his clothesH899, and comeH3318 outH3318 and offerH6213 his burntH5930 offeringH5930 and the burntH5930 offeringH5930 of the peopleH5971, and makeH3722 atonementH3722 for himself and for the peopleH5971. 25Then he shall offerH6999 upH6999 inH6999 smokeH6999 the fatH2459 of the sinH2403 offeringH2403 on the altarH4196. 26The one who releasedH7971 the goatH8163 47as the 48scapegoatH5799 49shall washH3526 his clothesH899 and batheH7364 his 50bodyH1320 with waterH4325; then afterwardH310H3651 he shall comeH935 into the campH4264. 27But the bullH6499 of the 51sinH2403 offeringH2403 and the goatH8163 of the 52sinH2403 offeringH2403, 53whoseH834 bloodH1818 was broughtH935 inH935 to makeH3722 atonementH3722 in the HolyH6944 PlaceH6944, shall be takenH3318 outsideH413H4480H2351 the campH4264, and they shall burnH8313 their hidesH5785, their fleshH1320, and their refuseH6569 in the fireH784. 28Then the 54one who burnsH8313 them shall washH3526 his clothesH899 and batheH7364 his bodyH1320 with waterH4325; and afterwardH310H3651 he shall comeH935 into the campH4264.

An Annual Atonement

29“This shall be a permanentH5769 statuteH2708 for you: 55in the seventhH7637 monthH2320, on the tenthH6218 day of the monthH2320, you shall humbleH6031 56yourselvesH5315 and not 57doH6213 anyH3605 workH4399, whether the nativeH249, or the strangerH1616 who residesH1481 amongH8432 you; 30for it is on thisH2088 dayH3117 that 58atonementH3722 shall be madeH3722 for you to 59cleanseH2891 you; you will beH2891 cleanH2891 from allH3605 your sinsH2403 beforeH6440 the LordH3068. 31It is to be a SabbathH7676 of solemnH7677 restH7677 for you, so that you may 60humbleH6031 61yourselvesH5315; it is a permanentH5769 statuteH2708. 32So the priestH3548 whoH834 is anointedH4886 and 62ordainedH4390H3027 to serveH3547 asH3547 priestH3547 inH8478 his father’sH1 placeH8478 shall makeH3722 atonementH3722: he shall putH3847 onH3847 63the linenH906 garmentsH899, the holyH6944 garmentsH899, 33and makeH3722 atonementH3722 for the holyH6944 sanctuaryH4720, and he shall makeH3722 atonementH3722 for the tentH168 of meetingH4150 and for the altarH4196. He shall also makeH3722 atonementH3722 for 64the priestsH3548 and for allH3605 the peopleH5971 of the assemblyH6951. 34Now you shall haveH1961 thisH2088 as a 65permanentH5769 statuteH2708, to 66makeH3722 atonementH3722 for the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 for allH3605 their sinsH2403 onceH259 every yearH8141.” And justH3512 asH3512 the LordH3068 had commandedH6680 MosesH4872, so he didH6213.
