Exodus 21:12-36

Whoever strikesH5221 and killsH4191 a manH376 must surely be put to deathH4191. 13If, howeverH834, he did notH3808 lie in waitH6658, but GodH430 allowed it to happenH579H3027, then I will appointH7760 for you a placeH4725 whereH834 he may fleeH5127H8033.

But ifH3588 a manH376 schemesH6195 and acts willfullyH2102 againstH5921 his neighborH7453 to kill himH2026, you must take himH3947 away fromH5973 My altarH4196 to be put to deathH4191.

Whoever strikesH5221 his fatherH1 or motherH517 must surely be put to deathH4191.

Whoever kidnapsH1589 another manH376 must be put to deathH4191, whether he sells himH4376 or the man is foundH4672 in his possessionH3027.

NeverthelessH7535, he must compensateH5414 the man for his lost workH7674 and see that he is completely healedH7495.

IfH3588 a manH376 strikesH5221 his manservantH5650 orH176 maidservantH519 with a rodH7626, and the servant diesH4191 byH8478 his handH3027, he shall surely be punishedH5358. 21HoweverH389, ifH518 the servant gets upH5975 after a dayH3117 orH176 twoH3117, the owner shall notH3808 be punishedH5358, sinceH3588 the servant is his propertyH3701.

IfH3588 menH582 who are fightingH5327 strikeH5062 a pregnantH2030 womanH802 and her childH3206 is born prematurelyH3318,3 but there isH1961 noH3808 further injuryH611, he shall surely be finedH6064 asH834 the woman’sH802 husbandH1167 demandsH7896 and as the court allowsH5414H6414. 23But ifH518 a serious injuryH611 resultsH1961, then you must requireH5414 a lifeH5315 forH8478 a lifeH5315— 24eyeH5869 forH8478 eyeH5869, toothH8127 forH8478 toothH8127,4 handH3027 forH8478 handH3027, footH7272 forH8478 footH7272, 25burnH3555 forH8478 burnH3555, woundH6482 forH8478 woundH6482, and stripeH2250 forH8478 stripeH2250.

IfH3588 a manH376 strikesH5221 and blindsH7843 the eyeH5869 of his manservantH5650 orH176 maidservantH519, he must let the servant goH7971 freeH2670 as compensation forH8478H5869 the eyeH5869. 27And ifH518 he knocks outH5307 the toothH8127 of his manservantH5650 orH176 maidservantH519, he must let the servant goH7971 freeH2670 as compensation forH8478H8127 the toothH8127.

IfH3588 an oxH77945 goresH5055 a manH376 orH176 womanH802 to deathH4191, the oxH7794 must surely be stonedH5619, and its meatH1320 must notH3808 be eatenH398. But the ownerH1167 of the oxH7794 shall not be held responsibleH5355.

But ifH518 the oxH7794 has a habitH8543H8032 of goringH5056H1931, and its ownerH1167 has been warnedH5749 yet does notH3808 restrain itH8104, and it killsH4191 a manH376 orH176 womanH802, then the oxH7794 must be stonedH5619 and its ownerH1167 must alsoH1571 be put to deathH4191. 30IfH518 paymentH3724 is demandedH7896 of him insteadH5921, he may redeemH6306 his lifeH5315 by payingH5414 the fullH3605 amount demandedH7896 of himH5921.

IfH176 the ox goresH5055 a sonH1121 orH176 a daughterH1323H5055, it shall be doneH6213 to him according to the sameH2088 ruleH4941.

IfH3588 a manH376 opensH6605 orH176H3588 digsH3738H376 a pitH953 and failsH3808 to cover itH3680, and an oxH7794 orH176 a donkeyH2543 fallsH5307 into itH8033, 34the ownerH1167 of the pitH953 shall make restitutionH7999; he must payH7725H3701 its ownerH1167, and the deadH4191 animal will beH1961 his.

IfH3588 a man’sH376 oxH7794 injuresH5062 his neighbor’sH7453 oxH7794 and it diesH4191, they must sellH4376 the liveH2416 one and divideH2673 the proceedsH3701; they also mustH1571 divideH2673 the dead animalH4191. 36But ifH176 it was knownH3045 thatH3588 the oxH7794 had a habitH8543H8032 of goringH5056H1931, yet its ownerH1167 failedH3808 to restrain itH8104, he shall pay full compensationH7999, oxH7794 forH8478 oxH7794, and the deadH4191 animal will beH1961 his.
