1Again the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068cameוַיְהִ֥יvay.HiH1961to meאֵלַ֥י'e.LaiH413,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

2“Sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of manאָדָ֗ם'a.DamH120,speakדַּבֵּ֤רda.BerH1696toאֶל־'el-H413your peopleבְּנֵֽי־ עַמְּךָ֙be.nei- 'a.me.KhaH1121 H5971and tellוְאָמַרְתָּ֣ve.'a.mar.TaH559themאֲלֵיהֶ֔ם'a.lei.HemH413: ‘Supposeכִּֽי־ki-H3588I bringאָבִ֥יא'a.Vi'H935the swordחָ֑רֶבCha.revH2719againstעָלֶ֖יהָ'a.Lei.haH5921a landאֶ֕רֶץ'E.retzH776,and the peopleעַם־'am-H5971of that landהָאָ֜רֶץha.'A.retzH776chooseוְלָקְח֨וּve.la.ke.ChuH3947aאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376from among themמִקְצֵיהֶ֔םmik.tzei.HemH7097,appointingוְנָתְנ֥וּve.na.te.NuH5414himאֹת֛וֹ'o.ToH853as theirwatchmanלְצֹפֶֽה׃le.tzo.PehH6822,

3and he seesוְרָאָ֥הve.ra.'AhH7200אֶת־'et-H853the swordהַחֶ֖רֶבha.Che.revH2719comingבָּאָ֣הba.'AhH935againstעַל־'al-H5921that landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776and blowsוְתָקַ֥עve.ta.Ka'H8628the ram’s hornבַּשּׁוֹפָ֖רba.sho.FarH7782to warnוְהִזְהִ֥ירve.hiz.HirH2094אֶת־'et-H853the peopleהָעָֽם׃ha.'AmH5971.

4Then if anyone hearsH8085אֶת־'et-H853the soundק֤וֹלKolH6963of the hornהַשּׁוֹפָר֙ha.sho.FarH7782but failsוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808to heed the warningנִזְהָ֔רniz.HarH2094,and the swordחֶ֖רֶבChe.revH2719comesוַתָּ֥בוֹאva.Ta.Vo'H935and takes him awayוַתִּקָּחֵ֑הוּva.ti.ka.Che.huH3947,his bloodדָּמ֥וֹda.MoH1818will beיִֽהְיֶֽה׃Yih.YehH1961on his own headבְרֹאשׁ֖וֹve.ro.ShoH7218.

5אֵת֩'etH853Since he heardשָׁמַע֙sha.Ma'H8085the soundק֨וֹלKolH6963of the hornהַשּׁוֹפָ֤רha.sho.FarH7782but failedוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808to heed the warningנִזְהָ֔רniz.HarH2094,his bloodדָּמ֖וֹda.MoH1818will beיִֽהְיֶ֑הyih.YehH1961on his own head.If heוְה֥וּאve.Hu'H1931had heeded the warningנִזְהָ֖רniz.HarH2094,he would have savedמִלֵּֽט׃mi.LetH4422his lifeנַפְשׁ֥וֹnaf.ShoH5315.

6But ifכִּֽי־ki-H3588the watchmanוְ֠הַצֹּפֶהVe.ha.tzo.fehH6822seesיִרְאֶ֨הyir.'EhH7200אֶת־'et-H853the swordהַחֶ֜רֶבha.Che.revH2719comingבָּאָ֗הba.'AhH935and failsוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808to blowתָקַ֤עta.Ka'H8628the hornבַּשּׁוֹפָר֙ba.sho.FarH7782לֹֽא־lo'-H3808to warnנִזְהָ֔רniz.HarH2094the peopleוְהָעָ֣םve.ha.'AmH5971,and the swordחֶ֔רֶבChe.revH2719comesוַתָּב֣וֹאva.ta.Vo'H935and takes awayוַתִּקַּ֥חva.ti.KachH3947a lifeנָ֑פֶשׁNa.feshH5315,then that oneה֚וּאhu'H1931will be taken awayנִלְקָ֔חnil.KachH3947in his iniquityבַּעֲוֹנ֣וֹba.'a.vo.NoH5771,but I will hold the watchmanהַצֹּפֶ֥הha.tzo.PehH6822accountableאֶדְרֹֽשׁ׃ ס'ed.RoshH1875for his bloodוְדָמ֖וֹ מִיַּֽד־ve.da.Mo mi.yad-H1818 H3027.’

7As for youוְאַתָּ֣הve.'a.TahH859,O sonבֶן־ven-H1121of manאָדָ֔ם'a.DamH120,I have madeנְתַתִּ֖יךָne.ta.Ti.khaH5414you a watchmanצֹפֶ֥הtzo.PehH6822for the houseלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478;so hearוְשָׁמַעְתָּ֤ve.sha.ma'.TaH8085the wordדָּבָ֔רda.VarH1697fromמִמֶּֽנִּי׃mi.Me.niH4480My mouthמִפִּי֙mi.PiH6310and give them the warning from Meוְהִזְהַרְתָּ֥ve.hiz.har.TaH2094אֹתָ֖ם'o.TamH853.

8If I sayבְּאָמְרִ֣יbe.'a.me.RiH559to the wickedלָרָשָׁ֗עla.ra.Sha'H7563, ‘O wickedרָשָׁע֙ra.Sha'H7563man,you will surely dieH4191,’but you do notוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808speak outדִבַּ֔רְתָּdi.Bar.taH1696to dissuadeלְהַזְהִ֥ירle.haz.HirH2094himרָשָׁ֖עra.Sha'H7563from his wayמִדַּרְכּ֑וֹmi.dar.KoH1870,then thatה֤וּאhu'H1931wickedרָשָׁע֙ra.Sha'H7563manwill dieH4191in his iniquityבַּעֲוֹנ֣וֹba.'a.vo.NoH5771,yet I will hold you accountable forמִיָּדְךָ֥ אֲבַקֵּֽשׁ׃mi.ya.de.Kha 'a.va.KeshH3027 H1245his bloodוְדָמ֖וֹve.da.MoH1818.

9But ifכִּֽי־ki-H3588youוְ֠אַתָּהVe.'a.tahH859warnהִזְהַ֨רְתָּhiz.Har.taH2094the wickedרָשָׁ֤עra.Sha'H7563manto turnלָשׁ֣וּבla.ShuvH7725מִמֶּ֔נָּהmi.Me.nahH4480from his wayמִדַּרְכּוֹ֙mi.dar.KoH1870,and he does notוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808turnשָׁ֖בshavH7725from itמִדַּרְכּ֑וֹmi.dar.KoH1870,heה֚וּאhu'H1931will dieיָמ֔וּתya.MutH4191in his iniquityבַּעֲוֹנ֣וֹba.'a.vo.NoH5771,but youוְאַתָּ֖הve.'a.TahH859will have savedהִצַּֽלְתָּ׃ סhi.Tzal.taH5337your lifeנַפְשְׁךָ֥naf.she.KhaH5315.

10Now as for youוְאַתָּ֣הve.'a.TahH859,sonבֶן־ven-H1121of manאָדָ֗ם'a.DamH120,tellH559אֶל־'el-H413the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478that this is whatכֵּ֤ןkenH3651theyhave saidכִּֽי־ki-H559 H3588: ‘Our transgressionsפְשָׁעֵ֥ינוּfe.sha.'Ei.nuH6588and our sinsוְחַטֹּאתֵ֖ינוּve.cha.to.Tei.nuH2403are heavyעָלֵ֑ינוּ'a.Lei.nuH5921upon us,and weאֲנַ֥חְנוּ'a.Nach.nuH587are wasting away because of themנְמַקִּ֖יםne.ma.KimH4743!Howוְאֵ֥יךְve.'EikhH349can we liveנִֽחְיֶֽה׃Nich.YehH2421?’

11Sayאֱמֹ֨ר'e.MorH559to themאֲלֵיהֶ֜ם'a.lei.HemH413: ‘As surely as Iאָ֣נִי׀'A.niH589liveחַי־chai-H2416,declaresנְאֻ֣ם׀ne.'UmH5002the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהוִ֗הYah.wehH3069,I take noאִם־'im-H518pleasureאֶחְפֹּץ֙'ech.PotzH2654in the deathבְּמ֣וֹתbe.MotH4194of the wickedהָרָשָׁ֔עha.ra.Sha'H7563,but ratherכִּ֣י אִם־ki 'im-H3588 H518that the wickedרָשָׁ֛עra.Sha'H7563should turnבְּשׁ֥וּבbe.ShuvH7725from their waysמִדַּרְכּ֖וֹmi.dar.KoH1870and liveוְחָיָ֑הve.cha.YahH2421.Turnשׁ֣וּבוּShu.vuH7725!Turnשׁ֜וּבוּShu.vuH7725from your evilהָרָעִ֛יםha.ra.'ImH7451waysמִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֧םmi.dar.khei.KhemH1870!For whyוְלָ֥מָּהve.La.mahH4100should you dieתָמ֖וּתוּta.Mu.tuH4191,O houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פYis.ra.'ElH3478?’

12Thereforeוְאַתָּ֣הve.'a.TahH859,sonבֶן־ven-H1121of manאָדָ֗ם'a.DamH120,sayאֱמֹ֤ר'e.MorH559toאֶל־'el-H413your peopleבְּנֵֽי־ עַמְּךָ֙be.nei- 'a.me.KhaH1121 H5971: ‘The righteousnessצִדְקַ֣תtzid.KatH6666of the righteous manהַצַּדִּ֗יקha.tza.DikH6662will notלֹ֤אlo'H3808deliver himתַצִּילֶ֙נּוּ֙ta.tzi.Le.nuH5337in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of his transgressionפִּשְׁע֔וֹpish.'OH6588;neitherלֹֽא־lo'-H3808will the wickednessוְרִשְׁעַ֤תve.rish.'AtH7564of the wicked manהָֽרָשָׁע֙ha.ra.Sha'H7563cause him to stumbleיִכָּ֣שֶׁלyi.Ka.shelH3782on the dayבְּי֖וֹםbe.YomH3117he turnsשׁוּב֣וֹshu.VoH7725from his wickednessמֵֽרִשְׁע֑וֹme.rish.'OH7562.Nor willלֹ֥אlo'H3808the righteous manוְצַדִּ֗יקve.tza.DikH6662be ableיוּכַ֛לyu.KhalH3201to surviveלִֽחְי֥וֹתlich.YotH2421by his righteousnesson the dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117he sinsחֲטֹאתֽוֹ׃cha.to.ToH2398.’

13If I tellבְּאָמְרִ֤יbe.'a.me.RiH559the righteous manלַצַּדִּיק֙la.tza.DikH6662that he will surely liveH2421,but he thenוְהֽוּא־ve.hu'-H1931trustsבָטַ֥חva.TachH982inעַל־'al-H5921his righteousnessצִדְקָת֖וֹtzid.ka.ToH6666and commitsוְעָ֣שָׂהve.'A.sahH6213iniquityעָ֑וֶל'A.velH5766,then noneכָּל־ לֹ֣אkol- lo'H3605 H3808of his righteous worksצִדְקֹתָיו֙tzid.ka.tovH6666will be rememberedתִזָּכַ֔רְנָהti.za.Khar.nahH2142;he will dieיָמֽוּת׃ya.MutH4191because of the iniquityוּבְעַוְל֥וֹu.ve.'av.LoH5766אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he has committedעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213.

14But if I tellוּבְאָמְרִ֥יu.ve.'a.me.RiH559the wicked manלָֽרָשָׁ֖עla.ra.Sha'H7563, ‘You will surely dieH4191,’and he turnsוְשָׁב֙ve.ShavH7725from his sinמֵֽחַטָּאת֔וֹme.cha.ta.ToH2403and doesוְעָשָׂ֥הve.'a.SahH6213what is justמִשְׁפָּ֖טmish.PatH4941and rightוּצְדָקָֽה׃u.tze.da.KahH6666—

15if heרָשָׁע֙ra.Sha'H7563restoresיָשִׁ֤יבya.ShivH7725a pledgeחֲבֹ֨לcha.VolH2258,makes restitutionיְשַׁלֵּ֔םye.sha.LemH7999for what he has stolenגְּזֵלָ֣הge.ze.LahH1500,and walksהָלַ֔ךְha.LakhH1980in the statutesבְּחֻקּ֤וֹתbe.chu.KotH2708of lifeהַֽחַיִּים֙ha.chai.YimH2416withoutלְבִלְתִּ֖יle.vil.TiH1115practicingעֲשׂ֣וֹתa.SotH6213iniquityעָ֑וֶל'A.velH5766—then he will surely liveH2421;he will notלֹ֥אlo'H3808dieיָמֽוּת׃ya.MutH4191.

16Noneכָּל־ לֹ֥אkol- lo'H3605 H3808of the sinsחַטֹּאתָיו֙cha.ta.tovH2403אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834he has committedחָטָ֔אcha.Ta'H2398will be heldתִזָּכַ֖רְנָהti.za.Khar.nahH2142against him.He has doneעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213what is justמִשְׁפָּ֧טmish.PatH4941and rightוּצְדָקָ֛הu.tze.da.KahH6666;he will surely liveH2421.

17Yet your peopleבְּנֵ֣י עַמְּךָ֔be.Nei 'a.me.KhaH1121 H5971sayוְאָמְרוּ֙ve.'a.me.RuH559, ‘The wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the Lordאֲדֹנָ֑י'a.do.NaiH136is notלֹ֥אlo'H3808justיִתָּכֵ֖ןyi.ta.KhenH8505.’But it isוְהֵ֖מָּהve.He.mahH1992their wayדַּרְכָּ֥םdar.KamH1870that is notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808justיִתָּכֵֽן׃yi.ta.KhenH8505.
