2So they went throughoutוַיָּסֹ֙בּוּ֙vai.ya.So.buH5437Judahבִּֽיהוּדָ֔הbi.hu.DahH3063and gatheredוַיִּקְבְּצ֤וּvai.yik.be.TzuH6908אֶת־'et-H853the Levitesהַלְוִיִּם֙hal.vi.YimH3881from allמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605the citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063and the headsוְרָאשֵׁ֥יve.ra.SheiH7218of the familiesהָאָב֖וֹתha.'a.VotH1of Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לle.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.And when they cameוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935toאֶל־'el-H413Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ye.ru.sha.LimH3389,

3the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605assemblyהַקָּהָ֥לha.ka.HalH6951madeוַיִּכְרֹ֨תvai.yikh.RotH3772a covenantבְּרִ֛יתbe.RitH1285withעִם־'im-H5973the kingהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428in the houseבְּבֵ֥יתbe.VeitH1004of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430. “Beholdהִנֵּ֤הhi.NehH2009,the king’sהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428sonבֶן־ven-H1121!”said Jehoiadaוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “He must reignיִמְלֹ֔ךְyim.LokhH4427,just asכַּאֲשֶׁ֛רka.'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068promisedדִּבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696concerningעַל־'al-H5921the descendantsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Davidדָוִֽיד׃da.VidH1732.

4Thisזֶ֥ה הַדָּבָ֖רzeh ha.da.VarH2088 H1697is whatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you are to doתַּעֲשׂ֑וּta.'a.SuH6213:A thirdהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֨יתha.she.li.ShitH7992of youpriestsלַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙la.ko.ha.NimH3548and Levitesוְלַלְוִיִּ֔םve.lal.vi.YimH3881who come on dutyבָּאֵ֣יba.'EiH935on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֗תha.sha.BatH7676shall keep watchלְשֹֽׁעֲרֵ֖יle.sho.'a.ReiH7778at the doorsהַסִּפִּֽים׃ha.si.PimH5592,

5a thirdוְהַשְּׁלִשִׁית֙ve.ha.she.li.ShitH7992shall be at the royalהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428palaceבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004,and a thirdוְהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֖יתve.ha.she.li.ShitH7992at the Foundationהַיְס֑וֹדhay.SodH3247Gateבְּשַׁ֣עַרbe.Sha.'arH8179,while allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the othersהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971are to be in the courtyardsבְּחַצְר֖וֹתbe.chatz.RotH2691of the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

6Noוְאַל־ve.'al-H408one is to enterיָב֣וֹאya.Vo'H935the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068exceptכִּ֤י אִם־ki 'im-H3588 H518the priestsהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ha.ko.ha.NimH3548and those Levitesלַלְוִיִּ֔םlal.vi.YimH3881who serveוְהַמְשָׁרְתִ֣יםve.ham.sha.re.TimH8334;theyהֵ֥מָּהHe.mahH1992may enterיָבֹ֖אוּya.Vo.'uH935becauseכִּי־ki-H3588theyהֵ֑מָּהHe.mahH1992are consecratedקֹ֣דֶשׁKo.deshH6944,but allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971are to obeyיִשְׁמְר֖וּyish.me.RuH8104the requirementמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶתmish.Me.retH4931of the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

7The Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֨םhal.vi.YimH3881must surroundוְהִקִּיפוּ֩ve.hi.ki.FuH5362אֶת־'et-H853the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְ סָבִ֗יב אִ֚ישׁha.Me.lekh sa.Viv 'ishH4428 H5439 H376with weaponsוְכֵלָ֣יוve.khe.LavH3627in handבְּיָד֔וֹbe.ya.DoH3027,and anyone who entersוְהַבָּ֥א אֶל־ve.ha.Ba' 'el-H935 H413the templeהַבַּ֖יִתha.Ba.yitH1004must be put to deathיוּמָ֑תyu.MatH4191.You must stayוִֽהְי֥וּvih.YuH1961closeאֶת־'et-H854to the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428wherever he goesבְּבֹא֥וֹ וּבְצֵאתֽוֹ׃be.vo.'O u.ve.tze.ToH935 H3318.”

8So the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֜םhal.vi.YimH3881and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605Judahיְהוּדָ֗הye.hu.DahH3063didוַיַּעֲשׂ֨וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213everythingכְּכֹ֣לke.KholH3605thatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֣עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestהַכֹּהֵן֒ha.ko.HenH3548had orderedצִוָּה֮tzi.VahH6680.Each of themאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376אֶת־'et-H853tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947his menאֲנָשָׁ֔יו'a.na.ShavH582—those coming on dutyבָּאֵ֣יba.'EiH935on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֔תha.sha.BatH7676andעִ֖ם'imH5973those going off dutyיוֹצְאֵ֣יyotz.'EiH3318הַשַּׁבָּ֑תha.sha.BatH7676—forכִּ֣יkiH3588Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֥עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestהַכֹּהֵ֖ןha.ko.HenH3548אֶת־'et-H853had notלֹ֥אlo'H3808releasedפָטַ֛רfa.TarH6362any ofthe divisionsהַֽמַּחְלְקֽוֹת׃Ha.mach.le.KotH4256.

9Then Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֨עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestהַכֹּהֵ֜ןha.ko.HenH3548gaveוַיִּתֵּן֩vai.yi.TenH5414to the commandersלְשָׂרֵ֣יle.sa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַמֵּא֗וֹתha.me.'otH3967אֶת־'et-H853the spearsהַֽחֲנִיתִים֙ha.cha.ni.TimH2595וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and the largeהַמָּגִנּוֹת֙ha.ma.gi.nOtH4043andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853small shieldsהַשְּׁלָטִ֔יםha.she.la.TimH7982אֲשֶׁ֖ר'a.SherH834of Kingלַמֶּ֣לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִ֑ידda.VidH1732thatאֲשֶׁ֖ר'a.SherH834were in the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Godהָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ha.'E.lo.HimH430.

10He stationedוַיַּעֲמֵ֨דvai.ya.'a.MedH5975אֶת־'et-H853allכָּל־kol-H3605the troopsהָעָ֜ם וְאִ֣ישׁ׀ha.'Am ve.'IshH5971 H376,with their weaponsשִׁלְח֣וֹshil.ChoH7973in handבְיָד֗וֹve.ya.DoH3027,surroundingסָבִֽיב׃sa.VivH5439the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428by the altarלַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַla.miz.Be.achH4196and the templeהַבַּ֤יִת עַל־ha.Ba.yit 'al-H1004 H5921,from the southהַיְמָנִית֙hay.ma.NitH3233sideמִכֶּ֨תֶףmi.Ke.tefH3802הַבַּ֙יִת֙ha.Ba.yitH1004toעַד־'ad-H5704the northהַשְּׂמָאלִ֔יתha.se.ma.LitH8042sideכֶּ֤תֶףKe.tefH3802of the templeוְלַבָּ֑יִתve.la.Ba.yitH1004.
