Numbers 32:1-19
1Now the children of ReubenH7205 and the children of GadH1410 had a veryH3966 great multitude of cattle: and when they sawH7200 the landH776 of JazerH3270, and the landH776 of GileadH1568, that, behold, the placeH4725 wasH1961 a placeH4725 for cattle; 2the children of GadH1410 and the children of ReubenH7205 cameH935 and spake unto MosesH4872, and to EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and unto the princesH5387 of the congregationH5712, sayingH559, 3AtarothH5852, and DibonH1769, and JazerH3270, and Nimrah, and HeshbonH2809, and ElealehH500, and Sebam, and NeboH5015, and Beon, 4the landH776 which Jehovah smote before the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478, is a landH776 for cattle; and thy servantsH5650 have cattle. 5And they saidH559, If we have foundH4672 favorH2580 in thy sight, let this landH776 be givenH5414 unto thy servantsH5650 for a possessionH272; bring us not over the JordanH3383.
6And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto the children of GadH1410, and to the children of ReubenH7205, Shall your brethren goH935 to the warH4421, and shall ye sitH3427 hereH6311? 7And wherefore discourage ye the heartH3820 of the children of IsraelH3478 from going over into the landH776 which Jehovah hath givenH5414 them? 8ThusH3541 did your fathersH1, when I sentH7971 them from Kadesh-barneaH6947 to seeH7200 the landH776. 9For whenH834 they wentH935 up unto the valley of EshcolH812, and sawH7200 the landH776, they discouraged the heartH3820 of the children of IsraelH3478, that they should not goH935 into the landH776 which Jehovah had givenH5414 them. 10And Jehovah’s angerH639 was kindled in that dayH3117, and he sware, sayingH559, 11Surely none of the menH376 that cameH5927 up out of EgyptH4714, from twentyH6242 yearsH8141 old and upwardH4605, shall seeH7200 the landH127 which I sware unto AbrahamH85, unto IsaacH3327, and unto JacobH3290; because they have not wholly followed me: 12save CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312 the KenizziteH7074, and JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126; because they have wholly followed Jehovah. 13And Jehovah’s angerH639 was kindled against IsraelH3478, and he madeH6213 them wanderH5128 to and fro in the wildernessH4057 fortyH705 yearsH8141, until all the generationH1755, that had done evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, was consumed. 14And, behold, ye are risenH6965 up in your fathers’H1 stead, an increase of sinfulH2400 menH376, to augment yetH5750 the fierce angerH639 of Jehovah toward IsraelH3478. 15For if ye turnH7725 awayH7725 from after him, he will yetH5750 againH5750 leave them in the wildernessH4057; and ye will destroyH7843 all this peopleH5971.
16And they came near unto him, and saidH559, We will buildH1129 sheepfolds hereH6311 for our cattle, and citiesH5892 for our littleH2945 onesH2945: 17but we ourselves will be ready armedH2502 to goH935 before the children of IsraelH3478, until we have broughtH935 them unto their placeH4725: and our littleH2945 onesH2945 shall dwellH3427 in the fortified citiesH5892 because of the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776. 18We will not returnH7725 unto our housesH1004, until the children of IsraelH3478 have inheritedH5157 every manH376 his inheritanceH5159. 19For we will not inheritH5157 with them on the otherH5676 sideH5676 of the JordanH3383, and forward; because our inheritanceH5159 is fallen to us on this sideH5676 of the JordanH3383 eastward.
