5And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 6BringH7126 the tribeH4294 of LeviH3881 near, and setH5975 them before AaronH175 the priestH3548, that they may minister unto him. 7And they shall keepH8104 his chargeH4931, and the chargeH4931 of the whole congregationH5712 before the tentH168 of meetingH4150, to do the serviceH5656 of the tabernacleH4908. 8And they shall keepH8104 all the furniture of the tentH168 of meetingH4150, and the chargeH4931 of the children of IsraelH3478, to do the serviceH5656 of the tabernacleH4908. 9And thou shalt giveH5414 the LevitesH3881 unto AaronH175 and to his sonsH1121: they are wholly givenH5414 unto him on the behalf of the children of IsraelH3478. 10And thou shalt appointH6485 AaronH175 and his sonsH1121, and they shall keepH8104 their priesthoodH3550: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be putH4191 to deathH4191.

11And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 12And I, behold, I have takenH3947 the LevitesH3881 from among the children of IsraelH3478 instead of all the first-born that openeth the wombH7358 among the children of IsraelH3478; and the LevitesH3881 shall beH1961 mine: 13for all the first-born are mine; on the dayH3117 that I smote all the first-born in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 I hallowed unto me all the first-born in IsraelH3478, both manH120 and beast; mine they shall beH1961: I am Jehovah.

14And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872 in the wildernessH4057 of SinaiH5514, sayingH559, 15Number the children of LeviH3881 by their fathers’H1 housesH1004, by their familiesH4940: every maleH2145 from a monthH2320 old and upwardH4605 shalt thou number them. 16And MosesH4872 numbered them according to the word of Jehovah, as he was commandedH6680. 17And these wereH1961 the sonsH1121 of LeviH3881 by their namesH8034: GershonH1648, and KohathH6955, and MerariH4847. 18And these are the namesH8034 of the sonsH1121 of GershonH1648 by their familiesH4940: LibniH3845 and ShimeiH8096. 19And the sonsH1121 of KohathH6955 by their familiesH4940: AmramH6019, and IzharH3324, HebronH2275, and UzzielH5816. 20And the sonsH1121 of MerariH4847 by their familiesH4940: MahliH4249 and MushiH4187. These are the familiesH4940 of the LevitesH3881 according to their fathers’H1 housesH1004.

21Of GershonH1648 was the familyH4940 of the Libnites, and the familyH4940 of the Shimeites: these are the familiesH4940 of the Gershonites. 22Those that were numbered of them, according to the numberH4557 of all the malesH2145, from a monthH2320 old and upwardH4605, even those that were numbered of them were sevenH7651 thousandH505 and fiveH2568 hundredH3967. 23The familiesH4940 of the Gershonites shall encampH2583 behind the tabernacleH4908 westward. 24And the princeH5387 of the fathers’H1 houseH1004 of the Gershonites shall be EliasaphH460 the sonH1121 of Lael. 25And the chargeH4931 of the sonsH1121 of GershonH1648 in the tentH168 of meetingH4150 shall be the tabernacleH4908, and the TentH168, the coveringH4372 thereof, and the screenH4539 for the doorH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150, 26and the hangings of the courtH2691, and the screenH4539 for the doorH6607 of the courtH2691, which is by the tabernacleH4908, and by the altarH4196 roundH5439 about, and the cordsH4340 of it for all the serviceH5656 thereof.

27And of KohathH6955 was the familyH4940 of the Amramites, and the familyH4940 of the Izharites, and the familyH4940 of the Hebronites, and the familyH4940 of the Uzzielites: these are the familiesH4940 of the KohathitesH6956. 28According to the numberH4557 of all the malesH2145, from a monthH2320 old and upwardH4605, there were eightH8083 thousandH505 and sixH8337 hundredH3967, keepingH8104 the chargeH4931 of the sanctuaryH6944. 29The familiesH4940 of the sonsH1121 of KohathH6955 shall encampH2583 on the sideH3409 of the tabernacleH4908 southward. 30And the princeH5387 of the fathers’H1 houseH1004 of the familiesH4940 of the KohathitesH6956 shall be ElizaphanH469 the sonH1121 of UzzielH5816. 31And their chargeH4931 shall be the arkH727, and the tableH7979, and the candlestick, and the altarsH4196, and the vesselsH3627 of the sanctuaryH6944 wherewith they minister, and the screenH4539, and all the serviceH5656 thereof. 32And EleazarH499 the sonH1121 of AaronH175 the priestH3548 shall be princeH5387 of the princesH5387 of the LevitesH3881, and have the oversightH6486 of them that keepH8104 the chargeH4931 of the sanctuaryH6944.

33Of MerariH4847 was the familyH4940 of the Mahlites, and the familyH4940 of the Mushites: these are the familiesH4940 of MerariH4847. 34And those that were numbered of them, according to the numberH4557 of all the malesH2145, from a monthH2320 old and upwardH4605, were sixH8337 thousandH505 and twoH3967 hundredH3967. 35And the princeH5387 of the fathers’H1 houseH1004 of the familiesH4940 of MerariH4847 was Zuriel the sonH1121 of AbihailH32: they shall encampH2583 on the sideH3409 of the tabernacleH4908 northward. 36And the appointed chargeH4931 of the sonsH1121 of MerariH4847 shall be the boards of the tabernacleH4908, and the barsH1280 thereof, and the pillarsH5982 thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the instrumentsH3627 thereof, and all the serviceH5656 thereof, 37and the pillarsH5982 of the courtH2691 roundH5439 about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cordsH4340.
