Luke 14:2-14
2And beholdG2400, there wasG1510 before him a certainG5100 manG444 that had the dropsy. 3And JesusG2424 answeringG611 spake unto the lawyersG3544 and PhariseesG5330, sayingG3004, Is it lawfulG1832 to healG2323 on the sabbathG4521, or not? 4But they held their peace. And he took him, and healedG2390 him, and let him goG630. 5And he saidG3004 unto them, Which of you shall have an ass or an oxG1016 fallenG4098 into a well, and will not straightway draw him up on a sabbathG4521 dayG2250? 6And they could not answer again unto these thingsG3778.
7And he spake a parableG3850 unto those that were bidden, when he marked howG4459 they chose out the chief seats; sayingG3004 unto them, 8WhenG3752 thou art bidden of any man to a marriageG1062 feastG1062, sit not down in the chief seat; lestG3361 haply a more honorable man than thou beG1510 bidden of him, 9and he that bade thee and him shall comeG2064 and sayG3004 to thee, GiveG1325 this manG3778 placeG5117; and then thou shalt beginG757 with shameG152 to take the lowest placeG5117. 10But whenG3752 thou art bidden, goG4198 and sit down in the lowest placeG5117; that whenG3752 he that hath bidden thee cometh, he may sayG3004 to thee, FriendG5384, goG4198 up higher: thenG5119 shalt thou have gloryG1391 in the presenceG1799 of all that sit at meat with thee. 11For every one that exalteth himself shall be humbledG5013; and he that humbleth himself shall be exaltedG5312.
12And he saidG3004 to him alsoG2532 that had bidden him, WhenG3752 thou makest a dinner or a supperG1173, callG2564 not thy friendsG5384, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor richG4145 neighbors; lestG3361 haply they alsoG2532 bid thee again, and a recompense be madeG4160 thee. 13But whenG3752 thou makest a feast, bid the poorG4434, the maimed, the lameG5560, the blindG5185: 14and thou shalt beG1510 blessed; because they have not wherewith to recompense thee: for thou shalt beG1510 recompensed in the resurrectionG386 of the justG1342.
