Judah Warned against Egyptian Alliance
1“WoeH1945 to the 1rebelliousH5637 childrenH1121,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068, “Who 2executeH6213 a planH6098, but not MineH4480, And 34makeH5259 an allianceH4541, but not of My SpiritH7307, InH4616 orderH4616 toH4616 addH3254 sinH2403 to sinH2403;2Who 5proceedH1980 downH3381 to EgyptH4714 WithoutH3808 6consultingH7592 7Me, 8To takeH5756 refugeH5756 in the safetyH4581 of PharaohH6547, And to seekH2620 shelterH2620 in the shadowH6738 of EgyptH4714!3Therefore the safetyH4581 of PharaohH6547 will be 9your shameH1322, And the shelterH2622 in the shadowH6738 of EgyptH4714, your humiliationH3639.4For 10their officialsH8269 are at ZoanH6814 And their ambassadorsH4397 arriveH5060 at HanesH2609.5EveryoneH3605 will beH954 11ashamedH954 becauseH5921 of a peopleH5971 who doH3808 not benefitH3276 them, Who are 12not a helpH5828 or benefitH3276, but a source of shameH1322 and alsoH1571 disgraceH2781.”
6The pronouncementH4853 concerning the 13animalsH929 of the 14NegevH5045: Through a landH776 of 15distressH6869 and anguishH6695, From 16whereH1992 come lionessH3833 and lionH3918, viperH660 and 17flyingH5774 serpentH8314, They 18carryH5375 their richesH2428 on the 19backsH3802 of youngH5895 donkeysH5895, And their treasuresH214 on 20camels’H1581 humpsH1707, To a peopleH5971 who willH3808 not benefitH3276 them;7Even EgyptH4714, whose 21helpH5826 is vainH1892 and emptyH7385. ThereforeH3651, I have calledH7121 22her “2324RahabH7294 whoH1992 has been exterminatedH7674.”8NowH6258 goH935, 25writeH3789 it on a tabletH3871 in their presenceH854 And inscribeH2710 it on a scrollH5612, That it may 26serveH1961 in the timeH3117 to comeH314 27As a witness foreverH5704H5769.9For thisH1931 is a 28rebelliousH4805 peopleH5971, 29falseH3586 sonsH1121, SonsH1121 who 30refuseH3808H14 to 31listenH8085 To the 32instructionH8451 of the LordH3068;10WhoH834 sayH559 to the 33seersH7203, “You must not seeH7200 visions”; And to the prophetsH2374, “You must not 34prophesyH2372 the truthH5228 to us. 35SpeakH1696 to us 36pleasantH2513 wordsH2513, ProphesyH2372 illusionsH4123.11GetH5493 outH5493 of the wayH1870, 37turnH5186 asideH5186 from the pathH734, 38StopH7673 speaking beforeH6440 us about the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478!” 12ThereforeH3651 thisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478 saysH559: “39SinceH3282 you have rejectedH3988 thisH2088 wordH1697 And have putH982 your trustH982 in 40oppressionH6233 and crookednessH3868, and have reliedH8172 on them,13ThereforeH3651 thisH2088 41wrongdoingH5771 will be to you Like a 42breachH6556 about to fallH5307, A bulgeH1158 in a highH7682 wallH2346, WhoseH834 collapseH7667 comesH935 43suddenlyH6597 in an instantH6621,14Whose collapseH7665 is like the smashingH7667 of a 44potter’sH3335 jarH5035, 45So ruthlesslyH3808H2550 shatteredH3807 That a shardH2789 will not be foundH4672 among its piecesH4386 To 46takeH2846 fireH784 from a hearthH3344 Or to scoopH2834 waterH4325 from a cisternH1360.” 15For thisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH136 47GodH3068, the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478, has saidH559: “In 48repentanceH7729 and 49restH5183 you will be savedH3467, In 50quietnessH8252 and trustH985 is your strengthH1369.” But you wereH14 not willingH14,16And you saidH559, “NoH3808, for we will fleeH5127 on 51horsesH5483!” ThereforeH5921H3651 you shall fleeH5127! “And we will rideH7392 on swiftH7031 horses!” ThereforeH5921H3651 those who pursueH7291 you shall beH7043 swiftH7043.1752OneH259 thousandH505 will flee at the threatH1606 of oneH259 man; You will fleeH5127 at the threatH1606 of fiveH2568, UntilH5704H518 you are leftH3498 like a signalH8650 postH8650 on a mountainH2022 topH7218, And like a flagH5251 on a hillH1389.
God Is Gracious and Just
18ThereforeH3651 the LordH3068 5354longsH2442 to beH2603 graciousH2603 to you, And thereforeH3651 He 55waitsH7311 onH7311 56highH7311 to haveH7355 compassionH7355 onH7355 you. For the LordH3068 is a 57GodH430 of justiceH4941; How blessedH835 are allH3605 those who 5859longH2442 for Him.
1960For, you peopleH5971 in ZionH6726, 61inhabitantH3427 in JerusalemH3389, you will 62weepH1058 noH3808 longerH1058. He will certainlyH2603 beH2603 graciousH2603 to you at the soundH6963 of your cryH2199; when He hearsH8085 it, He will 63answerH6030 you. 20Although the LordH136 has givenH5414 you 64breadH3899 of deprivationH6862 and waterH4325 of oppressionH3906, He, your TeacherH4175, will noH3808 longerH5750 65hideH3670 Himself, but your eyesH5869 will seeH7200 your TeacherH4175. 21Your earsH241 will hearH8085 a wordH1697 behindH4480H310 you, saying, “ThisH2088 is the 66wayH1870, walkH1980 in it,” wheneverH3588 you 67turnH3231 to the rightH3231 or to the leftH8041. 22And you will desecrateH2930 your carvedH6456 68imagesH6456 platedH6826 with silverH3701, and your castH4541 metalH4541 69imagesH4541 platedH642 with goldH2091. You will scatterH2219 them as a filthyH1739 thingH1739, and sayH559 to 70them, “71Be goneH3318!”
23Then He will 72giveH5414 you rainH4306 for your seedH2233 whichH834 you will sowH2232 in the groundH127, and breadH3899 from the yieldH8393 of the groundH127, and it will be 73richH1879 and 74plentifulH8082; on that dayH3117 75your livestockH4735 will grazeH7462 in a wideH7337 pastureH3733. 24Also the oxenH504 and the donkeysH5895 that workH5647 the groundH127 will eatH398 76seasonedH2548 feedH1098, whichH834 77has been 78winnowedH2219 with shovelH7371 and pitchforkH4214. 25And on everyH3605 loftyH1364 mountainH2022 and 79everyH3605 highH5375 hillH1389 there will be 80streamsH6388 runningH2988 with waterH4325 on the dayH3117 of the greatH7227 81slaughterH2027, when the towersH4026 fallH5307. 2682And the lightH216 of the fullH3842 moonH3842 will be like the lightH216 of the sunH2535, and the lightH216 of the sunH2535 will be sevenH7659 timesH7659 brighter, like the lightH216 of sevenH7651 daysH3117, on the dayH3117 83the LordH3068 bindsH2280 upH2280 the 84fractureH7667 of His peopleH5971 and 85healsH7495 the woundH4273 86He has inflictedH4347.
27BeholdH2009, 87the nameH8034 of the LordH3068 comesH935 from a 88remoteH4801 placeH4801; 89His angerH639 is burningH1197 and 90denseH3514 with 91smokeH4858; His lipsH8193 are filledH4390 with 92indignationH2195, And His tongueH3956 is like a 93consumingH398 fireH784;28His 94breathH7307 is like an overflowingH7857 riverH5158, Which 95reachesH2673 to the neckH6677, To 96shakeH5130 the nationsH1471 backH5130 andH5130 forthH5130 in a 97sieveH5299, And to put in the jawsH3895 of the peoplesH5971 98the bridleH7448 which leadsH8582 astrayH8582.29You will haveH1961 99songsH7892 as in the nightH3915 when you keepH6942 the festivalH2282, And gladnessH8057 of heartH3824 as when one marchesH1980 to the sound of the fluteH2485, To goH935 to the mountainH2022 of the LordH3068, to the RockH6697 of IsraelH3478.30And the LordH3068 will cause 100His voiceH6963 of authorityH1935 to be heardH8085, And the 101descendingH5183 of His armH2220 to be seenH7200 in fierceH2197 angerH639, And in the flameH3851 of a consumingH398 fireH784 In cloudburstH5311, downpourH2230, and hailstones.31For 102at the voiceH6963 of the LordH3068 103AssyriaH804 will be terrifiedH2865, When He strikesH5221 with the 104rodH7626.32And everyH3605 105blowH4569 of the 106107rodH4294 of punishmentH4145, WhichH834 the LordH3068 will layH5117 on him, Will be with the music of 108tambourinesH8596 and lyresH3658; And in battlesH4421, 109brandishingH8573 weaponsH8573, He will fightH3898 them.33For 110111TophethH8613 has longH865 been readyH6186, IndeedH1571, it has been preparedH3559 for the kingH4428. He has madeH6009 it deepH6009 and largeH7337, 112A pyreH4071 of fireH784 with plentyH7235 of woodH6086; The 113breathH5397 of the LordH3068, like a torrentH5158 of 114brimstoneH1614, setsH1197 it afireH1197.
