Isaiah 8

Damascus and Samaria Fall
1Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to me, “TakeH3947 for yourself a largeH1419 tabletH1549 and 1writeH3789 on it 2in ordinaryH582 lettersH2747: 34Maher-shalal-hash-bazH4122. 2And 5I will takeH5749 to Myself faithfulH539 witnessesH5707 forH5749 testimonyH5749, 6UriahH223 the priestH3548 and ZechariahH2148 the sonH1121 of JeberechiahH3000.” 3So I approachedH7126 the prophetessH5031, and she conceivedH2029 and gaveH3205 birthH3205 to a sonH1121. Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to me, “NameH7121H8034 him 78Maher-shalal-hash-bazH4122; 4for 9beforeH2962 the boyH5288 knowsH3045 how to cryH7121 outH7121 ‘My fatherH1’ or ‘My motherH517,’ the wealthH2428 of 10DamascusH1834 and the spoilsH7998 of SamariaH8111 will be carriedH5375 away beforeH6440 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804.”
5AgainH3254 the LordH3068 spokeH1696 to me furtherH5750, sayingH559,6“InasmuchH3282H3588 as theseH2088 peopleH5971 have 11rejectedH3988 the gentlyH328 flowingH1980 watersH4325 of ShiloahH7975 And rejoiceH4885 in 12RezinH7526 and the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425;7Now thereforeH3651, beholdH2009, the LordH136 is about to bringH5927 on them the 13strongH6099 and abundantH7227 watersH4325 of the 14Euphrates RiverH5104, That is, the 15kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 and allH3605 his gloryH3519; And it will 16riseH5927 overH5921 allH3605 its channelsH650 and goH1980 overH5921 allH3605 its banksH1415.8Then 17it will sweepH2498 onH2498 into JudahH3063, it will overflowH7857 and passH5674 throughH5674, It will 18reachH5060 as farH5704 as the neckH6677; And the spreadH4298 of its wingsH3671 will 19fillH4393 the expanseH7341 of 20your landH776, 21ImmanuelH6005.
A Believing Remnant
9“22Be brokenH7489, you peoplesH5971, and be 2324shatteredH2865; And listenH238, allH3605 remoteH4801 placesH4801 of the earthH776. 25GetH247 readyH247, yet be 26shatteredH2865; 27GetH247 readyH247, yet be 28shatteredH2865.1029DeviseH5779 a planH6098, but it will failH6565; StateH1696 a 30proposalH1697, but 31it will not standH6965, For 3233GodH410 is with us.”
11For soH3541 the LordH3068 spokeH559 to me 34with 35mightyH2393 powerH3027 and instructedH3256 me 36not to walkH1980 in the wayH1870 of thisH2088 peopleH5971, sayingH559,12“You are not to sayH559, ‘It is a 37conspiracyH7195!’ Regarding everythingH3605 that thisH2088 peopleH5971 callH559 a conspiracyH7195, And 38you are not to fearH3372 39whatH4172 they fearH4172 or beH6206 inH6206 dreadH6206 of it.13It is the 40LordH3068 of armiesH6635 41whom you are to regardH6942 asH6942 holyH6942. And He shall be your fearH4172, And He shall beH6206 your dreadH6206.14Then He will becomeH1961 a 42sanctuaryH4720; But to bothH8147 housesH1004 of IsraelH3478, He will be a 43stoneH68 of stumblingH5063 and a rockH6697 44of offenseH4383, And a snareH6341 and a 45trapH4170 for the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389.15ManyH7227 46will stumbleH3782 over them, Then they will fallH5307 and be brokenH7665; They will be snaredH3369 and caughtH3920.”
1647BindH6887 upH6887 the testimonyH8584, 48sealH2856 the 49LawH8451 among 50my disciplesH3928. 17And I will 51waitH2442 for the LordH3068 52who is hidingH5641 His faceH6440 from the houseH1004 of JacobH3290; I will waitH6960 eagerlyH6960 for Him. 1853BeholdH2009, I and the childrenH3206 whomH834 the LordH3068 has givenH5414 me are for 54signsH226 and wondersH4159 in IsraelH3478 from the LordH3068 of armiesH6635, who 55dwellsH7931 on MountH2022 ZionH6726.
19WhenH3588 they sayH559 to you, “56ConsultH1875 the mediumsH178 and the spiritistsH3049 who whisperH6850 and mutterH1897,” should a peopleH5971 not 57consultH1875 their GodH430? Should they 58consult the deadH4191 in behalfH1157 of the livingH2416? 20To the 5960LawH8451 and to the testimonyH8584! IfH518 they do not speakH559 in accordance with thisH2088 wordH1697, it is becauseH834 61they haveH369 noH369 dawnH7837. 21They will passH5674 through 62the land 63dejectedH7185 and hungryH7457, and it will turnH1961 outH1961 that whenH3588 they are hungryH7456, they will becomeH7107 enragedH7107 and curseH7043 64their kingH4428 and their GodH430 as they faceH6437 upwardH4605. 22Then they will 65lookH5027 to the earthH776, and beholdH2009, distressH6869 and darknessH2825, the gloomH4588 of anguishH6695; and they will be 66drivenH5080 awayH5080 into darknessH653.
