The Priest’s Part in the Offerings

1‘Now thisH2088is the lawתּוֹרַ֖תto.RatH8451of theguiltהָאָשָׁ֑םha.'a.ShamH817offeringH817;it is mostקֹ֥דֶשׁKo.deshH6944holyקָֽדָשִׁ֖יםka.da.ShimH6944.

2Inthe placeבִּמְק֗וֹםbim.KomH4725whereאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834they slaughterיִשְׁחֲטוּ֙yish.cha.TuH7819the burntהָ֣עֹלָ֔הha.'o.LahH5930offeringH5930they are to slaughterיִשְׁחֲט֖וּyish.cha.TuH7819the guiltהָאָשָׁ֑םha.'a.ShamH817offeringH817, and the priestshall sprinkleיִזְרֹ֥קyiz.RokH2236its bloodדָּמ֛וֹda.MoH1818aroundסָבִֽיב׃sa.VivH5439on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַha.miz.Be.achH4196.

3Then he shall offerיַקְרִ֣יבyak.RivH7126from it allכָּל־kol-H3605its fatחֶלְבּ֖וֹchel.BoH2459: thefatהָֽאַלְיָ֔הha.'al.YahH451tailH451and the fatהַחֵ֖לֶבha.Che.levH2459that coversהַֽמְכַסֶּ֥הham.kha.SehH3680the entrailsהַקֶּֽרֶב׃ha.Ke.revH7130,

4and the twoשְׁתֵּ֣יshe.TeiH8147kidneysהַכְּלָיֹ֔תha.ke.la.YotH3629with the fatהַחֵ֙לֶב֙ha.Che.levH2459that is on them, whichH834is on the loinsהַכְּסָלִ֑יםha.ke.sa.LimH3689;and he shall removeיְסִירֶֽנָּה׃ye.si.Re.nahH5493the lobeהַיֹּתֶ֙רֶת֙hai.yo.Te.retH3508on the liverהַכָּבֵ֔דha.ka.VedH3516with the kidneysהַכְּלָיֹ֖תha.ke.la.YotH3629.

5The priestהַכֹּהֵן֙ha.ko.HenH3548shall offerH6999them upH6999inH6999smokeוְהִקְטִ֨ירve.hik.TirH6999on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֔חָהha.miz.Be.chahH4196as an offeringאִשֶּׁ֖ה'i.ShehH801byH801fireH801to the Lordלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068;it is a guiltאָשָׁ֖ם'a.ShamH817offeringH817.

6Everyכָּל־kol-H3605maleזָכָ֥רza.KharH2145among the priestsבַּכֹּהֲנִ֖יםba.ko.ha.NimH3548may eatיֹאכְלֶ֑נּוּyo.khe.Le.nuH398it. It shall be eatenיֵאָכֵ֔לye.'a.KhelH398in a holyקָדוֹשׁ֙ka.do.VoshH6918placeבְּמָק֤וֹםbe.ma.KomH4725;it is mostקֹ֥דֶשׁKo.deshH6944holyקָֽדָשִׁ֖יםka.da.ShimH6944.

7The guiltכָּֽאָשָׁ֔םka.'a.ShamH817offeringH817is like thesinכַּֽחַטָּאת֙ka.cha.taTH2403offeringH2403:there is oneאַחַ֖ת'a.ChatH259lawתּוֹרָ֥הto.RahH8451for them. Thepriestהַכֹּהֵ֛ןha.ko.HenH3548whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834makesיְכַפֶּר־ye.kha.per-H3722atonementH3722with itshall haveיִהְיֶֽה׃yih.YehH1961it.

8Also the priestוְהַ֨כֹּהֵ֔ןve.Ha.ko.HenH3548who presentsהַמַּקְרִ֖יבha.mak.RivH7126anyone’sאִ֑ישׁ'IshH376burntעֹ֣לַת'O.latH5930offeringהָֽעֹלָה֙ha.'o.LahH5930,that priestלַכֹּהֵ֖ןla.ko.HenH3548shall haveיִהְיֶֽה׃yih.YehH1961for himself the hideע֤וֹרorH5785of the burntH5930offeringH5930whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834he has presentedהִקְרִ֔יבhik.RivH7126.

9Likewise, everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605grain offeringמִנְחָ֗הmin.ChahH4503that is bakedתֵּֽאָפֶה֙te.'a.PehH644in the ovenבַּתַּנּ֔וּרba.ta.NurH8574and everythingוְכָל־ve.kholH3605preparedנַעֲשָׂ֥הna.'a.SahH6213in apanבַמַּרְחֶ֖שֶׁתva.mar.Che.shetH4802or on agriddleמַחֲבַ֑תma.cha.VatH4227shall belongתִֽהְיֶֽה׃Tih.YehH1961to the priestלַכֹּהֵ֛ןla.ko.HenH3548who presentsהַמַּקְרִ֥יבha.mak.RivH7126it.

10Everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605grain offeringמִנְחָ֥הmin.ChahH4503,mixedבְלוּלָֽה־ve.lu.lah-H1101with oilבַשֶּׁ֖מֶןva.She.menH8081or dryוַחֲרֵבָ֑הva.cha.re.VahH2720, shallbelongתִּהְיֶ֖הtih.YehH1961to allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the sonsבְּנֵ֧יbe.NeiH1121of Aaronאַהֲרֹ֛ן'a.ha.RonH175,to allאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376alikeכְּאָחִֽיו׃ פke.'a.ChivH251.

13With the sacrificeזֶ֖בַחZe.vachH2077of his peaceשְׁלָמָֽיו׃she.la.MavH8002offeringsH8002for thanksgivingתּוֹדַ֥תto.DatH8426,he shall presentיַקְרִ֖יבyak.RivH7126his offeringקָרְבָּנ֑וֹka.re.ba.NoH7133with cakesחַלֹּת֙cha.LotH2471ofleavenedחָמֵ֔ץcha.MetzH2557breadלֶ֣חֶםLe.chemH3899.

14Ofthis he shall presentוְהִקְרִ֨יבve.hik.RivH7126oneאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259of everyמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605offeringקָרְבָּ֔ןkor.banH7133as acontributionתְּרוּמָ֖הte.ru.MahH8641to the Lordלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068; it shallbelongיִהְיֶֽה׃yih.YehH1961to the priestלַכֹּהֵ֗ןla.ko.HenH3548who sprinklesהַזֹּרֵ֛קha.zo.RekH2236the bloodדַּ֥םdamH1818of the peaceהַשְּׁלָמִ֖יםha.she.la.MimH8002offeringsH8002.

15‘Now as forthe fleshוּבְשַׂ֗רu.ve.SarH1320of the sacrificeזֶ֚בַחZe.vachH2077of his thanksgivingתּוֹדַ֣תto.DatH8426peaceשְׁלָמָ֔יוshe.la.MavH8002offeringsH8002,it shall be eatenיֵאָכֵ֑לye.'a.KhelH398on the dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117of his offeringקָרְבָּנ֖וֹka.re.ba.NoH7133;he shall not leaveיַנִּ֥יחַya.Ni.achH5117anyמִמֶּ֖נּוּmi.Me.nuH4480of it overH5117untilעַד־'ad-H5704morningבֹּֽקֶר׃Bo.kerH1242.

16But ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518the sacrificeזֶ֚בַחZe.vachH2077of his offeringקָרְבָּנ֔וֹka.re.ba.NoH7133is avowנֶ֣דֶר׀Ne.derH5088orא֣וֹ'oH176avoluntaryH5071offeringנְדָבָ֗הne.da.VahH5071,it shall be eatenיֵאָכֵ֑לye.'a.KhelH398on the dayבְּי֛וֹםbe.YomH3117that he offersהַקְרִיב֥וֹhak.ri.VoH7126his sacrificeזִבְח֖וֹziv.ChoH2077,and on the nextוּמִֽמָּחֳרָ֔תu.mi.mo.cho.RatH4283dayH4283what is leftוְהַנּוֹתָ֥רve.ha.no.TarH3498of it may be eatenיֵאָכֵֽל׃ye.'a.KhelH398;

17but what is leftH3498overH3498from the fleshמִבְּשַׂ֣רmi.be.SarH1320of the sacrificeהַזָּ֑בַחha.Za.vachH2077on the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔יha.she.li.ShiH7992dayבַּיּוֹם֙bai.yOmH3117shall be burnedיִשָּׂרֵֽף׃yi.sa.RefH8313with fireבָּאֵ֖שׁba.'EshH784.

18So ifוְאִ֣םve.'ImH518anyמִמֶּ֖נּוּmi.Me.nuH4480of the fleshמִבְּשַׂר־mi.be.sar-H1320of the sacrificeזֶ֨בַחZe.vachH2077of his peaceשְׁלָמָ֜יוshe.la.MavH8002offeringsH8002is evereatenH398on the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁי֮ha.she.li.ShiH7992dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117,he who offersהַמַּקְרִ֣יבha.mak.RivH7126it will not be acceptedיֵרָצֶה֒ye.ra.TzehH7521, andit will not be creditedיֵחָשֵׁ֛בye.cha.ShevH2803to him. It will be anuncleanפִּגּ֣וּלpi.GulH6292thingH6292,and the personוְהַנֶּ֛פֶשׁve.ha.Ne.feshH5315who eatsH398it shall bearתִּשָּֽׂא׃ti.Sa'H5375his punishmentעֲוֹנָ֥הּ'a.vo.NahH5771.

19‘Also the fleshוְהַבָּשָׂ֞רve.ha.ba.SarH1320that touchesיִגַּ֤עyi.Ga'H5060anythingבְּכָל־be.kholH3605uncleanטָמֵא֙ta.Me'H2931shall not be eatenיֵֽאָכֵ֔לye.'a.KhelH398;it shall be burnedיִשָּׂרֵ֑ףyi.sa.RefH8313with fireבָּאֵ֖שׁba.'EshH784. As for otherfleshוְהַ֨בָּשָׂ֔רve.Ha.ba.SarH1320,anyoneכָּל־kol-H3605who is cleanטָה֖וֹרta.HorH2889may eatיֹאכַ֥לyo.KhalH398suchfleshבָּשָֽׂר׃ba.SarH1320.

20But the personוְהַנֶּ֜פֶשׁve.ha.Ne.feshH5315whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834eatsתֹּאכַ֣לto.KhalH398the fleshבָּשָׂ֗רba.SarH1320of the sacrificeמִזֶּ֤בַחmi.Ze.vachH2077of peaceהַשְּׁלָמִים֙ha.she.la.MimH8002offeringsH8002whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834belong to the Lordלַיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068,when he is uncleanוְטֻמְאָת֖וֹve.tum.'a.ToH2932,that personהַנֶּ֥פֶשׁha.Ne.feshH5315shall be cutוְנִכְרְתָ֛הve.nikh.re.TahH3772offH3772from his peopleמֵעַמֶּֽיהָ׃me.'a.Mei.haH5971.

21Whenכִּֽי־ki-H3588anyoneוְנֶ֜פֶשׁve.Ne.feshH5315touchesתִגַּ֣עti.Ga'H5060anythingבְּכָל־be.kholH3605uncleanטָמֵ֗אta.Me'H2931,whether humanאָדָם֙'a.DamH120uncleannessבְּטֻמְאַ֤תbe.tum.'AtH2932,orא֣וֹ׀'oH176an uncleanטְמֵאָ֗הte.me.'AhH2931animalבִּבְהֵמָ֣הbiv.he.MahH929,orא֚וֹ'oH176anyבְּכָל־be.kholH3605uncleanטָמֵ֔אta.Me'H2931detestableשֶׁ֣קֶץShe.ketzH8263thingH8263,and eatsוְאָכַ֛לve.'a.KhalH398of the fleshמִבְּשַׂר־mi.be.sar-H1320of the sacrificeזֶ֥בַחZe.vachH2077of peaceהַשְּׁלָמִ֖יםha.she.la.MimH8002offeringsH8002whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834belong to the Lordלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068,that personהַנֶּ֥פֶשׁha.Ne.feshH5315shall be cutוְנִכְרְתָ֛הve.nikh.re.TahH3772offH3772from his peopleמֵעַמֶּֽיהָ׃ פme.'a.Mei.haH5971.’”

22Then the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֥רvay.da.BerH1696to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֥הmo.ShehH4872,sayingלֵּאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

23“Speakדַּבֵּ֛רda.BerH1696to the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, ‘You shall not eatתֹאכֵֽלוּ׃to.Khe.luH398anyכָּל־kol-H3605fatחֵ֜לֶבChe.levH2459froman oxשׁ֥וֹרShorH7794,a sheepוְכֶ֛שֶׂבve.Khe.sevH3775,or a goatוָעֵ֖זva.'EzH5795.

24Also the fatוְחֵ֤לֶבve.Che.levH2459of an animalwhichH5038diesH5038and the fatוְחֵ֣לֶבve.Che.levH2459of an animalטְרֵפָ֔הte.re.FahH2966tornH2966by animalsmay be putיֵעָשֶׂ֖הye.'a.SehH6213to anyלְכָל־le.kholH3605otheruseמְלָאכָ֑הme.la.KhahH4399,but you certainlyוְאָכֹ֖לve.'a.KholH398are not to eatתֹאכְלֻֽהוּ׃to.khe.Lu.huH398it.

25For whoeverכָּל־kol-H3605eatsאֹכֵ֣ל'o.KhelH398the fatחֵ֔לֶבChe.levH2459of the animalהַ֨בְּהֵמָ֔הha.be.he.MahH929from whichאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834an offeringאִשֶּׁ֖ה'i.ShehH801byH801fireH801is offeredיַקְרִ֥יבyak.RivH7126to the Lordלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068,the personהַנֶּ֥פֶשׁha.Ne.feshH5315who eatsהָאֹכֶ֖לֶתha.'o.Khe.letH398itshall also be cutוְנִכְרְתָ֛הve.nikh.re.TahH3772offH3772from his peopleמֵֽעַמֶּֽיהָ׃Me.'a.Mei.haH5971.

26Andyou are not to eatתֹאכְל֔וּto.khe.LuH398anyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605bloodדָּם֙damH1818,either of birdלָע֖וֹףla.'ofH5775or animalוְלַבְּהֵמָֽה׃ve.la.be.he.MahH929,in anyבְּכֹ֖לbe.KholH3605of your dwellingsמוֹשְׁבֹתֵיכֶ֑םmo.she.vo.tei.KhemH4186.

27Anyכָּל־kol-H3605personנֶ֖פֶשׁNe.feshH5315whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834eatsתֹּאכַ֣לto.KhalH398anyכָּל־kol-H3605bloodדָּ֑םDamH1818,that personהַנֶּ֥פֶשׁha.Ne.feshH5315shall also be cutוְנִכְרְתָ֛הve.nikh.re.TahH3772offH3772from his peopleמֵֽעַמֶּֽיהָ׃ פMe.'a.Mei.haH5971.’”

28Then the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֥רvay.da.BerH1696to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֥הmo.ShehH4872,sayingלֵּאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

29“Speakדַּבֵּ֛רda.BerH1696to the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, ‘He who offersהַמַּקְרִ֞יבha.mak.RivH7126the sacrificeזֶ֤בַחZe.vachH2077of his peaceשְׁלָמָיו֙she.la.MavH8002offeringsH8002to the Lordלַיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068shall bringיָבִ֧יאya.Vi'H935his offeringקָרְבָּנ֛וֹka.re.ba.NoH7133to the Lordלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068from the sacrificeמִזֶּ֥בַחmi.Ze.vachH2077of his peaceשְׁלָמָֽיו׃she.la.MavH8002offeringsH8002.

30His own handsיָדָ֣יוya.DavH3027are to bringתְּבִיאֶ֔ינָהte.vi.'Ei.nahH935offeringsH801byH801fireאִשֵּׁ֣י'i.SheiH801to the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.He shall bringיְבִיאֶ֔נּוּye.vi.'E.nuH935the fatהַחֵ֤לֶבha.Che.levH2459with the breastהֶֽחָזֶה֙he.cha.ZehH2373, so that thebreastהֶחָזֶ֗הhe.cha.ZehH2373may bepresentedלְהָנִ֥יףle.ha.NifH5130as a waveH8573offeringH8573beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

31And the priestהַכֹּהֵ֛ןha.ko.HenH3548shall offerH6999upH6999the fatהַחֵ֖לֶבha.Che.levH2459inH6999smokeוְהִקְטִ֧ירve.hik.TirH6999on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֑חָהha.miz.Be.chahH4196, butthe breastהֶֽחָזֶ֔הhe.cha.ZehH2373shall belongוְהָיָה֙ve.ha.YahH1961to Aaronלְאַהֲרֹ֖ןle.'a.ha.RonH175and to his sonsוּלְבָנָֽיו׃u.le.va.NavH1121.

32And you shall giveתִּתְּנ֥וּti.te.NuH5414the rightהַיָּמִ֔יןhai.ya.MinH3225thighשׁ֣וֹקShokH7785to the priestלַכֹּהֵ֑ןla.ko.HenH3548as acontributionתְרוּמָ֖הte.ru.MahH8641from the sacrificesמִזִּבְחֵ֖יmi.ziv.CheiH2077of your peaceשַׁלְמֵיכֶֽם׃shal.mei.KhemH8002offeringsH8002.

33The one amongH4480the sonsמִבְּנֵ֣יmi.be.NeiH1121of Aaronאַהֲרֹ֑ן'a.ha.RonH175who offersהַמַּקְרִ֞יבha.mak.RivH7126the bloodדַּ֧םdamH1818of the peaceהַשְּׁלָמִ֛יםha.she.la.MimH8002offeringsH8002and the fatהַחֵ֖לֶבha.Che.levH2459,the rightהַיָּמִ֖יןhai.ya.MinH3225thighשׁ֥וֹקShokH7785shall be his as hisportionלְמָנָֽה׃le.ma.NahH4490.

34For I have takenלָקַ֙חְתִּי֙la.Kach.tiH3947from the sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478the breastחֲזֵ֨הcha.ZehH2373of the waveH8573offeringH8573and the thighשׁ֣וֹקShokH7785of thecontributionהַתְּרוּמָ֗הha.te.ru.MahH8641from the sacrificesמִזִּבְחֵ֖יmi.ziv.CheiH2077of their peaceשַׁלְמֵיהֶ֑םshal.mei.HemH8002offeringsH8002,and have givenוָאֶתֵּ֣ןva.'e.TenH5414them to Aaronלְאַהֲרֹ֨ןle.'a.ha.RonH175the priestהַכֹּהֵ֤ןha.ko.HenH3548and to his sonsוּלְבָנָיו֙u.le.va.NavH1121as theirallottedH2706portionלְחָק־le.chok-H2706foreverעוֹלָ֔םo.LamH5769from the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

35‘ThisH2088is theallotmentמִשְׁחַ֤תmish.ChatH4888to Aaronאַהֲרֹן֙'a.ha.RonH175and the allotmentוּמִשְׁחַ֣תu.mish.ChatH4888to his sonsבָּנָ֔יוba.NavH1121from the offeringsH801byH801fireמֵאִשֵּׁ֖יme.'i.SheiH801to the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,on that dayבְּיוֹם֙be.yOmH3117when he presentedהִקְרִ֣יבhik.RivH7126them to serveלְכַהֵ֖ןle.kha.HenH3547asH3547priestsH3547to the Lordלַיהוָֽה׃la.Yah.wehH3068.

36Theseאֲשֶׁר֩'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068had commandedצִוָּ֨הtzi.VahH6680to be givenלָתֵ֣תla.TetH5414them from the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478on the dayבְּיוֹם֙be.yOmH3117that Heanointedמָשְׁח֣וֹma.she.ChoH4886them. It is theirallottedH2708portionH2708foreverעוֹלָ֖םo.LamH5769throughout their generationsלְדֹרֹתָֽם׃le.do.ro.TamH1755.’”
