19And his motherאִמּ֔וֹ'i.MoH517would makeתַּעֲשֶׂה־ta.'a.seh-H6213for him a littleקָטֹן֙ka.TonH6996robeוּמְעִ֤ילu.me.'IlH4598and bringH5927it upH5927to him from yearמִיָּמִ֣ים׀mi.ya.MimH3117to yearיָמִ֑ימָהya.Mi.mahH3117when she would comeH5927upH5927with her husbandאִישָׁ֔הּ'i.ShahH376to offerלִזְבֹּ֖חַliz.Bo.achH2076the yearlyהַיָּמִֽים׃hai.ya.MimH3117sacrificeזֶ֥בַחZe.vachH2077.

20Then Eliעֵלִ֜י'e.LiH5941wouldblessוּבֵרַ֨ךְu.ve.RakhH1288Elkanahאֶלְקָנָ֣ה'el.ka.NahH511and his wifeאִשְׁתּ֗וֹ'ish.ToH802,and sayוְאָמַר֙ve.'a.MarH559, “May the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068giveיָשֵׂם֩ya.SemH7760youchildrenזֶ֙רַע֙ze.ra'H2233from thisH2088womanהָאִשָּׁ֣הha.'i.ShahH802inH8478placeתַּ֚חַתTa.chatH8478ofH8478theoneהַשְּׁאֵלָ֔הha.she.'e.LahH7596sherequestedשָׁאַ֖לsha.'AlH7592of the Lordלַֽיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068.”And they wentוְהָלְכ֖וּve.ha.le.KhuH1980to their ownhomeלִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃lim.ko.MoH4725.

21The Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068indeedכִּֽי־ki-H3588visitedפָקַ֤דfa.KadH6485Hannahחַנָּ֔הcha.NahH2584,and she conceivedוַתַּ֛הַרva.Ta.harH2029and gaveH3205birthH3205to threeשְׁלֹשָֽׁה־she.lo.shah-H7969sonsבָנִ֖יםva.NimH1121and twoוּשְׁתֵּ֣יu.she.TeiH8147daughtersבָנ֑וֹתva.NotH1323. Andthe boyהַנַּ֥עַרha.Na.'arH5288Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֖לshe.mu.'ElH8050grewH1431upH1431beforeעִם־'im-H5973the Lordיְהוָֽה׃ סYah.wehH3068.

22Now Eliוְעֵלִ֖יve.'e.LiH5941wasH2204veryמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966oldזָקֵ֣ןza.KenH2204;and he heardוְשָׁמַ֗עve.sha.Ma'H8085abouteverythingכָּל־kol-H3605that his sonsבָּנָיו֙ba.NavH1121were doingיַעֲשׂ֤וּןya.'a.SunH6213to allלְכָל־le.kholH3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and that they sleptיִשְׁכְּבוּן֙yish.ke.VunH7901withthe womenהַנָּשִׁ֔יםha.na.ShimH802who servedהַצֹּ֣בְא֔וֹתha.Tzoe.'otH6633at the doorwayפֶּ֖תַחPe.tachH6607of the tentאֹ֥הֶל'O.helH168of meetingמוֹעֵֽד׃mo.'EdH4150.

23So he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Whyלָ֥מָּהLa.mahH4100are you doingתַעֲשׂ֖וּןta.'a.SunH6213suchH428thingsכַּדְּבָרִ֣יםka.de.va.RimH1697as theseH428,the evilרָעִ֔יםra.'ImH7451thingsדִּבְרֵיכֶ֣םdiv.rei.KhemH1697that I hearשֹׁמֵ֙עַ֙sho.Me.a'H8085from allכָּל־kol-H3605theseH428peopleהָעָ֥םha.'AmH5971?

24Noאַ֖ל'alH408,my sonsבָּנָ֑יba.NaiH1121;for the reportהַשְּׁמֻעָה֙ha.she.mu.'AhH8052is not goodטוֹבָ֤הto.VahH2896whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I hearשֹׁמֵ֔עַsho.Me.a'H8085the Lord’sיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068peopleעַם־'am-H5971circulatingמַעֲבִרִ֖יםma.'a.vi.RimH5674.

25Ifאִם־'im-H518one personאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376sinsיֶחֱטָ֨אye.che.Ta'H2398against anotherלְאִישׁ֙le.'IshH376,Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430will mediateוּפִֽלְל֣וֹu.fi.LoH6419for him; butifוְאִ֤םve.'ImH518a personאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376sinsיֶֽחֱטָא־ye.che.ta'-H2398against the Lordלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068,whoמִ֖יmiH4310can intercedeיִתְפַּלֶּל־yit.pa.lel-H6419for him?” But they would not listenיִשְׁמְעוּ֙yish.me.'UH8085to the voiceלְק֣וֹלle.KolH6963of their fatherאֲבִיהֶ֔ם'a.vi.HemH1, for theLordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068desiredחָפֵ֥ץcha.FetzH2654to putלַהֲמִיתָֽם׃la.ha.mi.TamH4191them toH4191deathH4191.

26Now the boyוְהַנַּ֣עַרve.ha.Na.'arH5288Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050was continuingהֹלֵ֥ךְho.LekhH1980to growוְגָדֵ֖לve.ga.DelH1432and to be in favorH2896bothH1571with the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068and with peopleH376.
