32And Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586, “May noאַל־'al-H408one’sאָדָ֖ם'a.DamH120heartלֵב־lev-H3820failיִפֹּ֥לyi.PolH5307onH5921accountH5921ofH5921him;your servantעַבְדְּךָ֣'av.de.KhaH5650will goיֵלֵ֔ךְye.LekhH1980and fightוְנִלְחַ֖םve.nil.ChamH3898thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֥יha.pe.lish.TiH6430!”

33But Saulשָׁא֜וּלsha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732, “You areH3201not ableתוּכַל֙tu.KhalH3201to goלָלֶ֙כֶת֙la.Le.khetH1980againstH413thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֣יha.pe.lish.TiH6430to fightלְהִלָּחֵ֖םle.hi.la.ChemH3898him; for you are onlya youthמִנְּעֻרָֽיו׃ סmi.ne.'u.RavH5271,while he has been a warriorמִלְחָמָ֖הmil.cha.MahH4421sinceH4480his youthH5271.”

34But Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586, “Your servantעַבְדְּךָ֛'av.de.KhaH5650was tendingרֹעֶ֨הro.'EhH7462his father’sלְאָבִ֖יוle.'a.VivH1sheepבַּצֹּ֑אןba.TzonH6629.When a lionהָֽאֲרִי֙ha.'a.RiH738or a bearהַדּ֔וֹבha.DovH1677cameוּבָ֤אu.Va'H935and tookוְנָשָׂ֥אve.na.Sa'H5375a sheepשֶׂ֖הsehH7716from the flockמֵהָעֵֽדֶר׃me.ha.'E.derH5739,

35I wentH3318outH3318afterאַחֲרָ֛יו'a.cha.RavH310it andattackedוְהִכִּתִ֖יוve.hi.ki.TivH5221it, andrescuedוְהִצַּ֣לְתִּיve.hi.Tzal.tiH5337the sheepfrom its mouthמִפִּ֑יוmi.PivH6310;and when it roseH6965upH6965againstעָלַ֔י'a.LaiH5921me, I grabbedוְהֶחֱזַ֙קְתִּי֙ve.he.che.Zak.tiH2388itby its maneבִּזְקָנ֔וֹbiz.ka.NoH2206and struckוְהִכִּתִ֖יוve.hi.ki.TivH5221it and killedוַהֲמִיתִּֽיו׃va.ha.mi.TivH4191it.

36Your servantעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ'av.De.khaH5650haskilledהִכָּ֣הhi.KahH5221bothH1571the lionהָאֲרִ֛יha.'a.RiH738and the bearהַדּ֖וֹבha.DovH1677;and thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088uncircumcisedהֶעָרֵ֤לhe.'a.RelH6189Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֨יha.pe.lish.TiH6430will be like oneכְּאַחַ֣דke.'a.ChadH259of them, sinceכִּ֣יkiH3588he has defiedחֵרֵ֔ףche.RefH2778the armiesמַעַרְכֹ֖תma.'ar.KhotH4634of the livingחַיִּֽים׃ סchai.YimH2416Godאֱלֹהִ֥ים'E.lo.HimH430.”

37And Davidדָּוִד֒da.VidH1732saidוַיֹּאמֶר֮vai.yo.MerH559, “The Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068whoאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834savedהִצִּלַ֜נִיhi.tzi.La.niH5337me from the pawמִיַּ֤דmi.YadH3027of the lionהָֽאֲרִי֙ha.'a.RiH738and the pawוּמִיַּ֣דu.mi.YadH3027of the bearהַדֹּ֔בha.DoH1677,He will saveיַצִּילֵ֔נִיya.tzi.Le.niH5337me from the handמִיַּ֥דmi.YadH3027of thisהַזֶּ֑ה סha.ZehH2088Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יha.pe.lish.TiH6430.”So Saulשָׁא֤וּלsha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732, “Goלֵ֔ךְLekhH1980,and may the Lordוַֽיהוָ֖הva.Yah.wehH3068be with you.”

38Then Saulשָׁא֤וּלsha.'UlH7586clothedוַיַּלְבֵּ֨שׁvai.yal.BeshH3847Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732with his militaryH4055attireH4055and putוְנָתַ֛ןve.na.TanH5414a bronzeנְחֹ֖שֶׁתne.Cho.shetH5178helmetק֥וֹבַעKoa'H6959on his headרֹאשׁ֑וֹro.ShoH7218,and outfittedוַיַּלְבֵּ֥שׁvai.yal.BeshH3847him with armorשִׁרְיֽוֹן׃shir.YonH8302.

39And Davidדָּוִ֣דda.VidH1732strappedH2296onH2296his swordחַ֠רְבּוֹchar.boH2719overמֵעַ֨לme.'AlH4480 H5921his militaryH4055attireH4055and struggledוַיֹּ֣אֶלvai.Yo.'elH2974at walkingלָלֶכֶת֮la.le.KhetH1980,for he had not trainedנִסָּה֒ni.SahH5254with the armor.So Davidדָּוִ֜דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Saulשָׁא֗וּלsha.'UlH7586, “I cannotאוּכַ֛ל'u.KhalH3201 H3808goלָלֶ֥כֶתla.Le.khetH1980with theseבָּאֵ֖לֶּהba.'E.lehH428,becauseH3588I have not trainedנִסִּ֑יתִיni.Si.tiH5254with them.”And Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732tookוַיְסִרֵ֥םvay.si.RemH5493themoffמֵעָלָֽיו׃me.'a.LavH4480 H5921.

40Then he tookוַיִּקַּ֨חvai.yi.KachH3947his staffמַקְל֜וֹmak.LoH4731in his handבְּיָד֗וֹbe.ya.DoH3027and choseוַיִּבְחַר־vai.yiv.char-H977for himself fiveחֲמִשָּׁ֣הcha.mi.ShahH2568smoothחַלֻּקֵֽי־cha.lu.kei-H2512stonesאֲבָנִ֣ים׀'a.va.NimH68from the brookהַנַּ֡חַלha.Na.chalH5158,and putוַיָּ֣שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760them in the shepherd’sהָרֹעִ֧יםha.ro.'ImH7462bagבִּכְלִ֨יbikh.LiH3627whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he had, that is, in hisshepherd’sH3219pouchH3219, andhis slingוְקַלְּע֣וֹve.ka.le.'OH7050was in his handבְיָד֑וֹve.ya.DoH3027;and he approachedוַיִּגַּ֖שׁvai.yi.GashH5066the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּֽי׃ha.pe.lish.TiH6430.

41Then the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יha.pe.lish.TiH6430cameH1980and approachedH7126Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732,with the shield-bearerנֹשֵׂ֥א הַצִּנָּ֖הno.Se' ha.tzi.NahH6793 H5375in frontלְפָנָֽיו׃le.fa.NavH6440of him.

42When the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֛יha.pe.lish.TiH6430lookedוַיַּבֵּ֧טvai.ya.BetH5027and sawוַיִּרְאֶ֥הvai.yir.'EhH7200Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732,he wasH959contemptuousH959of him; for he was onlya youthנַ֔עַרNa.'arH5288, andreddishוְאַדְמֹנִ֖יve.'ad.mo.NiH132,with a handsomeיְפֵ֥הye.PehH3303appearanceמַרְאֶֽה׃mar.'EhH4758.

43So the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּי֙ha.pe.lish.TiH6430saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732, “Am I a dogהֲכֶ֣לֶבha.Khe.levH3611,that you comeבָֽא־va'-H935to me with sticksבַּמַּקְל֑וֹתba.mak.LotH4731?” Andthe Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֛יha.pe.lish.TiH6430cursedוַיְקַלֵּ֧לvay.ka.LelH7043Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732by his godsבֵּאלֹהָֽיו׃be.lo.HavH430.

44The Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יha.pe.lish.TiH6430also saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732, “Comeלְכָ֣הle.KhahH1980to me, and I will giveוְאֶתְּנָה֙ve.'e.te.NahH5414your fleshבְּשָׂ֣רְךָ֔be.Sa.re.khaH1320to the birdsלְע֥וֹףle.'ofH5775of the skyהַשָּׁמַ֖יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and thewildהַשָּׂדֶֽה׃ סha.sa.DehH7704animalsוּלְבֶהֱמַ֥תu.le.ve.he.MatH929.”

45But Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יha.pe.lish.TiH6430, “You comeבָּ֣אba'H935to me with a swordבְּחֶ֖רֶבbe.Che.revH2719,a spearוּבַחֲנִ֣יתu.va.cha.NitH2595, and asaberוּבְכִיד֑וֹןu.ve.khi.DonH3591,but I comeבָֽא־va'-H935to you in the nameבְּשֵׁם֙be.ShemH8034of the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068of armiesצְבָא֔וֹתtze.va.'otH6635,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֛י'e.lo.HeiH430of the armiesמַעַרְכ֥וֹתma.'ar.KhotH4634of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,whomאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you have defiedחֵרַֽפְתָּ׃che.Raf.taH2778.

46Thisהַזֶּ֡הha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֣וֹםhai.YomH3117the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068will handבְּיָדִ֜יbe.ya.DiH5462 H3027you overH5462to me, and I will strikeוְהִכִּיתִ֗ךָve.hi.ki.Ti.khaH5221you and removeוַהֲסִרֹתִ֤יva.ha.si.ro.TiH5493your headרֹֽאשְׁךָ֙ro.she.KhaH7218from you. Then I will giveוְנָ֨תַתִּ֜יve.Na.ta.TiH5414thedeadH6297bodiesH6297of the armyמַחֲנֵ֤הma.cha.NehH4264of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּים֙fe.lish.TimH6430thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֣וֹםhai.YomH3117to the birdsלְע֥וֹףle.'ofH5775of the skyהַשָּׁמַ֖יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and the wildH2421animalsH2421of the earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,so that allכָּל־kol-H3605the earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776may knowוְיֵֽדְעוּ֙ve.ye.de.'UH3045that thereH3426isH3426a Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430in Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃le.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,

47and that thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088entireכָּל־kol-H3605assemblyהַקָּהָ֣לha.ka.HalH6951may knowוְיֵֽדְעוּ֙ve.ye.de.'UH3045thatthe Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068does not saveיְהוֹשִׁ֣יעַye.ho.Shi.a'H3467by swordבְּחֶ֥רֶבbe.Che.revH2719or by spearוּבַחֲנִ֖יתu.va.cha.NitH2595;for the battleהַמִּלְחָמָ֔הha.mil.cha.MahH4421is the Lord’sלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068,and He will handבְּיָדֵֽנוּ׃be.ya.De.nuH5414 H3027you overH5414to us!”

48Then it happenedוְהָיָה֙ve.ha.YahH1961,whenכִּֽי־ki-H3588the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יha.pe.lish.TiH6430cameוַיֵּ֥לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980closerוַיִּקְרַ֖בvai.yik.RavH7126to meetלִקְרַ֣אתlik.RatH7122Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732, thatDavidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732ranוַיָּ֥רָץvai.Ya.rotzH7323quicklyוַיְמַהֵ֣רvay.ma.HerH4116toward the battleהַמַּעֲרָכָ֖הha.ma.'a.ra.KhahH4634lineH4634to meetלִקְרַ֥אתlik.RatH7122the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּֽי׃ha.pe.lish.TiH6430.

49And Davidדָּוִ֨דda.VidH1732putוַיִּשְׁלַח֩vai.yish.LachH7971his handיָד֜וֹya.DoH3027into his bagהַכֶּ֗לִיha.Ke.liH3627and tookוַיִּקַּ֨חvai.yi.KachH3947from it a stoneאֶ֙בֶן֙'e.venH68and slungוַיְקַלַּ֔עvay.ka.La'H7049it,and struckוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יha.pe.lish.TiH6430on his foreheadמִצְח֑וֹmitz.ChoH4696.And the stoneהָאֶ֙בֶן֙ha.'E.venH68penetratedוַתִּטְבַּ֤עva.tit.Ba'H2883his foreheadבְּמִצְח֔וֹbe.mitz.ChoH4696,and he fellוַיִּפֹּ֥לvai.yi.PolH5307on his faceפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440to the groundאָֽרְצָה׃'A.re.tzahH776.

50So Davidדָּוִ֤דda.VidH1732prevailedוַיֶּחֱזַ֨קvai.ye.che.ZakH2388overמִן־min-H4480the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּי֙ha.pe.lish.TiH6430with the slingבַּקֶּ֣לַעba.Ke.la'H7050and the stoneוּבָאֶ֔בֶןu.va.'E.venH68:he struckוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יha.pe.lish.TiH6430and killedוַיְמִיתֵ֑הוּvay.mi.Te.huH4191him, and thereH369wasH369noH369swordוְחֶ֖רֶבve.Che.revH2719in David’sדָּוִֽד׃da.VidH1732handבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027.
