“I Will Stretch Out My Hand”
1Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “1SeeH7200, I makeH5414 you as GodH430 to PharaohH6547, and your brotherH251 AaronH175 shall be your prophetH5030. 2You shall speakH1696 allH3605 that I commandH6680 you, and your brotherH251 2AaronH175 shall speakH1696 to PharaohH6547 that he letH7971 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 goH7971 out of his landH776. 3But 3I will hardenH7185 Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820 that I may 4multiplyH7235 My signsH226 and My wondersH4159 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 4When 5PharaohH6547 does not listenH8085 to you, then I will layH5414 My handH3027 on EgyptH4714 and 6bringH3318 out My hostsH6635, My peopleH5971 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, from the landH776 of EgyptH4714 by 7greatH1419 judgmentsH8201. 58The EgyptiansH4714 shall knowH3045 that I am the LordH3068, when I 9stretchH5186 out My handH3027 on EgyptH4714 and bringH3318 out the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 from their midstH8432.” 6So MosesH4872 and AaronH175 didH6213 it; 10as the LordH3068 commandedH6680 them, thusH3651 they didH6213. 7MosesH4872 was 11eightyH8084 yearsH8141 oldH1121 and AaronH175 12eighty-threeH8084, when they spokeH1696 to PharaohH6547.
Aaron’s Rod Becomes a Serpent
8Now the LordH3068 spokeH559 to MosesH4872 and AaronH175, sayingH559, 9“WhenH3588 PharaohH6547 speaksH1696 to you, sayingH559, ‘1314WorkH5414 a miracleH4159,’ then you shall sayH559 to AaronH175, ‘15TakeH3947 your staffH4294 and throwH7993 it downH7993 beforeH6440 PharaohH6547, that it may becomeH1961 a serpentH8577.’” 10So MosesH4872 and AaronH175 cameH935 to PharaohH6547, and thusH3651 they didH6213 justH3512 as the LordH3068 had commandedH6680; and AaronH175 threwH7993 his staffH4294 downH7993 beforeH6440 PharaohH6547 and 16his servantsH5650, and it 17becameH1961 a serpentH8577. 11Then PharaohH6547 alsoH1571 18calledH7121 for the wiseH2450 menH2450 and the sorcerersH3784, and they alsoH1571, the 1920magiciansH2748 of EgyptH4714, didH6213 21the sameH3651 with 22their secretH3909 artsH3909. 12For eachH376 oneH376 threwH7993 downH7993 his staffH4294 and they turnedH1961 into serpentsH8577. But Aaron’sH175 staffH4294 swallowedH1104 up their staffsH4294. 13Yet 23Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820 was 24hardenedH2388, and he did not listenH8085 to them, as the LordH3068 had saidH1696.
Water Is Turned to Blood
14Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820 is 25stubbornH3515; he refusesH3985 to letH7971 the peopleH5971 goH7971. 15GoH1980 to PharaohH6547 in the morningH1242 26as 27he is goingH3318 out to the waterH4325, and stationH5324 yourselfH5324 to meetH7122 him on the bankH8193 of the NileH2975; and you shall takeH3947 in your handH3027 28the staffH4294 that was turnedH2015 into a serpentH5175. 1629You shall sayH559 to him, ‘The LordH3068, the GodH430 of the HebrewsH5680, sentH7971 me to you, sayingH559, “30LetH7971 My peopleH5971 goH7971, that they may serveH5647 Me in the wildernessH4057. But beholdH2009, you have not listenedH8085 untilH5704 nowH3541.” 17ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “31By thisH2088 you shall knowH3045 that I am the LordH3068: beholdH2009, I will strikeH5221 32the waterH4325 that is in the NileH2975 with the staffH4294 that is in my handH3027, and 33it will be turnedH2015 to bloodH1818. 1834The fishH1710 that are in the NileH2975 will dieH4191, and the NileH2975 will 35becomeH887 foulH887, and the EgyptiansH4714 will 3637findH3811 difficultyH3811 in drinkingH8354 waterH4325 from the NileH2975.”’” 19Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “SayH559 to AaronH175, ‘TakeH3947 your staffH4294 and 38stretchH5186 out your handH3027 overH5921 the watersH4325 of EgyptH4714, overH5921 their riversH5104, overH5921 their 39streamsH2975, and overH5921 their poolsH98, and overH5921 allH3605 their reservoirsH4723 of waterH4325, that they may becomeH1961 bloodH1818; and there will be bloodH1818 throughout allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714, both in vessels of woodH6086 and in vessels of stoneH68.’”
20So MosesH4872 and AaronH175 didH6213 evenH3651 as the LordH3068 had commandedH6680. And he liftedH7311 up 4041the staffH4294 and struckH5221 the waterH4325 that was in the NileH2975, in the sightH5869 of PharaohH6547 and in the sightH5869 of his servantsH5650, and 42allH3605 the waterH4325 that was in the NileH2975 was turnedH2015 to bloodH1818. 21The fishH1710 that were in the NileH2975 diedH4191, and the NileH2975 43becameH887 foulH887, so that the EgyptiansH4714 couldH3201 not drinkH8354 waterH4325 from the NileH2975. And the bloodH1818 was through allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 2244But the 45magiciansH2748 of EgyptH4714 didH6213 46the sameH3651 with their secretH3909 artsH3909; and Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820 was 47hardenedH2388, and he did not listenH8085 to them, as the LordH3068 had saidH1696. 23Then PharaohH6547 turnedH6437 and wentH935 into his houseH1004 48with noH3808 concernH7896H3820 evenH1571 for thisH2088. 24So allH3605 the EgyptiansH4714 dugH2658 aroundH5439 the NileH2975 for waterH4325 to drinkH8354, for they couldH3201 not drinkH8354 of the waterH4325 of the NileH2975. 25SevenH7651 daysH3117 49passedH4390 afterH310 the LordH3068 had struckH5221 the NileH2975.
