1Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I make you as God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet. You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall speak to Pharaoh that he let the sons of Israel go out of his land. 3But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart that I may multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. 4When Pharaoh does not listen to you, then I will lay My hand on Egypt and bring out My hosts, My people the sons of Israel, from the land of Egypt by great judgments.

God allowed Moses to speak through Aaron (see 4:16). Even so, Pharaoh would still refuse to listen. The outcome did not depend on the ability of Moses to speak. It depended on God’s power. Moses and Aaron obeyed God’s command. They acted in faith and went forward as he directed. The first crisis had now passed (see study note on 5:22–23) .Read the comment

I have made thee a god--"made," that is, set, appointed; "a god"; that is, he was to act in this business as God's representative, to act and speak in His name and to…Read the comment
