Moses on Sinai

11In the thirdH7992 monthH2320 after the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 had goneH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, 2on that very dayH3117 they cameH935 into the wildernessH4057 of 3SinaiH5514. 2When they setH5265 out from 4RephidimH7508, they cameH935 to the wildernessH4057 of SinaiH5514 and campedH2583 in the wildernessH4057; and thereH8033 IsraelH3478 campedH2583 in frontH5048 of 5the mountainH2022. 3MosesH4872 wentH5927 up to GodH430, and 6the LordH3068 calledH7121 to him from the mountainH2022, sayingH559, “ThusH3541 you shall sayH559 to the houseH1004 of JacobH3290 and tellH5046 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478: 4‘7You yourselvesH864 have seenH7200 whatH834 I didH6213 to the EgyptiansH4714, and how I boreH5375 you on 8eagles’H5404 wingsH3671, and broughtH935 you to Myself. 5NowH6258 then, 9ifH518 you will indeedH8085 obeyH8085 My voiceH6963 and 10keepH8104 My covenantH1285, then you shall be 11My 12own possessionH5459 amongH4480 allH3605 the peoplesH5971, for 13allH3605 the earthH776 is Mine; 6and you shall be to Me 14a kingdomH4467 of priestsH3548 and 15a holyH6918 nationH1471.’ TheseH428 are the wordsH1697 that you shall speakH1696 to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478.”

716So MosesH4872 cameH935 and calledH7121 the eldersH2205 of the peopleH5971, and setH7760 beforeH6440 them allH3605 theseH428 wordsH1697 whichH834 the LordH3068 had commandedH6680 him. 817AllH3605 the peopleH5971 answeredH6030 togetherH3164 and saidH559, “AllH3605 that the LordH3068 has spokenH1696 we will doH6213!” And MosesH4872 broughtH7725 backH7725 the wordsH1697 of the peopleH5971 to the LordH3068. 9The LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “BeholdH2009, I will comeH935 to you in 18a thickH5672 cloudH6051, soH5668 that the 19peopleH5971 may hearH8085 when I speakH1696 with you and may alsoH1571 believeH539 in you foreverH5769.” Then MosesH4872 toldH5046 the wordsH1697 of the peopleH5971 to the LordH3068.

10The LordH3068 also saidH559 to MosesH4872, “GoH1980 to the peopleH5971 and 20consecrateH6942 them todayH3117 and tomorrowH4279, and let them 21washH3526 their garmentsH8071; 11and let them be readyH3559 for the thirdH7992 dayH3117, for on 22the thirdH7992 dayH3117 the LordH3068 will comeH3381 downH3381 on MountH2022 SinaiH5514 in the sightH5869 of allH3605 the peopleH5971. 12You shall setH1379 boundsH1379 for the peopleH5971 allH5439 aroundH5439, sayingH559, ‘23BewareH8104 that you do not goH5927 up on the mountainH2022 or touchH5060 the borderH7097 of it; 24whoeverH3605 touchesH5060 the mountainH2022 shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. 13NoH3808 handH3027 shall touchH5060 him, but 25he shall surelyH5619 be stonedH5619 orH176 26shotH3384 throughH3384; whetherH518 beastH929 orH518 manH376, he shall not liveH2421.’ When the ram’sH3104 hornH3104 soundsH4900 a longH4900 blastH4900, they shall comeH5927 up to 27the mountainH2022.” 14So MosesH4872 wentH3381 downH3381 from the mountainH2022 to the peopleH5971 and consecratedH6942 the peopleH5971, and they washedH3526 their garmentsH8071. 15He saidH559 to the peopleH5971, “Be readyH3559 for the thirdH7969 dayH3117; do not goH5066 nearH5066 a womanH802.”

1628So it cameH1961 about on the thirdH7992 dayH3117, when it was morningH1242, that there were 29thunderH6963 and lightningH1300 flashesH1300 and a thickH3515 cloudH6051 upon the mountainH2022 and a veryH3966 loudH2389 trumpetH7782 soundH6963, so that allH3605 the peopleH5971 whoH834 were in the campH4264 trembledH2729. 17And MosesH4872 broughtH3318 the peopleH5971 out of the campH4264 to meetH7122 GodH430, and they stoodH3320 at the 30footH8482 of the mountainH2022.

The Lord Visits Sinai

1831Now MountH2022 SinaiH5514 was allH3605 in smokeH6225 becauseH4480H6440H834 the LordH3068 descendedH3381 upon it 32in fireH784; and its smokeH6227 ascendedH5927 like 33the smokeH6227 of a furnaceH3536, and 34the wholeH3605 mountainH2022 35quakedH2729 violentlyH3966. 19When the soundH6963 of the trumpetH7782 grewH1980 louderH2388 and louderH3966, MosesH4872 spokeH1696 and 36GodH430 answeredH6030 him with 37thunderH6963. 2038The LordH3068 cameH3381 downH3381 on MountH2022 SinaiH5514, to the topH7218 of the mountainH2022; and the LordH3068 calledH7121 MosesH4872 to the topH7218 of the mountainH2022, and MosesH4872 wentH5927 up. 21Then the LordH3068 spokeH559 to MosesH4872, “GoH3381 downH3381, 39warnH5749 the peopleH5971, soH6435 that 40they do not breakH2040 throughH2040 to the LordH3068 to gazeH7200, and manyH7227 of them 41perishH5307. 22AlsoH1571 let the 42priestsH3548 who comeH5066 nearH5066 to the LordH3068 consecrateH6942 themselves, orH6435 elseH6435 the LordH3068 will breakH6555 out against them.” 23MosesH4872 saidH559 to the LordH3068, “The peopleH5971 cannotH3201H3808 comeH5927 up to MountH2022 SinaiH5514, for You 43warnedH5749 us, sayingH559, ‘44SetH1379 boundsH1379 about the mountainH2022 and consecrateH6942 it.’” 24Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to him, “45GoH1980H3381 downH1980 and comeH5927 up again, 46you and AaronH175 with you; but do not let the 47priestsH3548 and the peopleH5971 breakH2040 throughH2040 to comeH5927 up to the LordH3068, orH6435 He will breakH6555 forthH6555 upon them.” 25So MosesH4872 wentH3381 downH1980 to the peopleH5971 and toldH559 them.
