1So MosesH4872 wentH1980 and spokeH1696 theseH428 wordsH1697 to allH3605 IsraelH3478. 2And he saidH559 to them, “I am 1a hundredH3967 and twentyH6242 yearsH8141 oldH1121 todayH3117; 2I am noH3808 longerH5750 ableH3201 to comeH3318 and goH935, and the LordH3068 has saidH559 to me, ‘3You shall not crossH5674 thisH2088 JordanH3383.’ 34It is the LordH3068 your GodH430 who will crossH5674 aheadH6440 of you; He will destroyH8045 theseH428 nationsH1471 beforeH6440 you, and you shall dispossessH3423 them. 5JoshuaH3091 is the one who will crossH5674 aheadH6440 of you, justH3512 as the LordH3068 has spokenH1696. 4The LordH3068 will doH6213 to them justH3512 as He didH6213 to SihonH5511 and OgH5747, the kingsH4428 of the AmoritesH567, and to their landH776, whenH834 He destroyedH8045 them. 56The LordH3068 will deliverH5414 them up beforeH6440 you, and you shall doH6213 to them according to allH3605 the commandmentsH4687 whichH834 I have commandedH6680 you. 67Be strongH2388 and courageousH553, 8do not be afraidH3372 or trembleH6206 at them, for 9the LordH3068 your GodH430 is the one who goesH1980 with you. 10He will not failH7503 you or forsakeH5800 you.”

7Then MosesH4872 calledH7121 to JoshuaH3091 and saidH559 to him in the sightH5869 of allH3605 IsraelH3478, “11Be strongH2388 and courageousH553, for you shall goH935 with thisH2088 peopleH5971 into the landH776 whichH834 the LordH3068 has swornH7650 to their fathersH1 to giveH5414 them, and you shall giveH5157 it to them as an inheritanceH5157. 812The LordH3068 is the one who goesH1980 aheadH6440 of you; He will be with you. 13He will not failH7503 you or forsakeH5800 you. Do not fearH3372 or be dismayedH2865.”

9So MosesH4872 wroteH3789 thisH2088 lawH8451 and gaveH5414 it to the priestsH3548, the sonsH1121 of LeviH3878 14who carriedH5375 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LordH3068, and to allH3605 the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478. 10Then MosesH4872 commandedH6680 them, sayingH559, “At the endH7093 of every sevenH7651 yearsH8141, at the timeH4150 of 15the yearH8141 of remissionH8059 of debts, at the 16FeastH2282 of BoothsH5521, 11when allH3605 IsraelH3478 comesH935 17to appearH7200 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 your GodH430 at 18the placeH4725 whichH834 He will chooseH977, 19you shall readH7121 thisH2088 lawH8451 in frontH5048 of allH3605 IsraelH3478 in their hearingH241. 12AssembleH6950 the peopleH5971, the menH376 and the womenH802 and childrenH2945 and 20the alienH1616 whoH834 is in your 21townH8179, soH4616 that they may hearH8085 and 22learnH3925 and fearH3372 the LordH3068 your GodH430, and be carefulH8104 to observeH6213 allH3605 the wordsH1697 of thisH2088 lawH8451. 13Their childrenH1121, whoH834 have not knownH3045, will hearH8085 and learnH3925 to fearH3372 the LordH3068 your GodH430, as longH3605H3117 as you liveH2416 on the landH127 23whichH834 you are about to crossH5674 the JordanH3383 to 24possessH3423.”

Israel Will Fall Away

14Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “BeholdH2005, 2526the timeH3117 for you to dieH4191 is nearH7126; callH7121 JoshuaH3091, and presentH3320 yourselves at the tentH168 of meetingH4150, that I may commissionH6680 him.” 27So MosesH4872 and JoshuaH3091 wentH1980 and presentedH3320 themselves at the tentH168 of meetingH4150. 1528The LordH3068 appearedH7200 in the tentH168 in a pillarH5982 of cloudH6051, and the pillarH5982 of cloudH6051 stoodH5975 at the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168. 16The LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “BeholdH2009, 29you are about to lieH7901 downH7901 with your fathersH1; and 30thisH2088 peopleH5971 will ariseH6965 and playH2181 the harlotH2181 with the strangeH5236 godsH430 of the landH776, into the midstH7130 of whichH834 they are goingH935, and 31will forsakeH5800 Me and breakH6565 My covenantH1285 whichH834 I have madeH3772 with them. 1732Then My angerH639 will be kindledH2734 against them in that dayH3117, and 33I will forsakeH5800 them and 34hideH5641 My faceH6440 from them, and they will be consumedH398, and manyH7227 evilsH7463 and troublesH6869 will comeH4672 upon them; so that they will sayH559 in that dayH3117, ‘35Is it not becauseH5921H3588 our GodH430 is not amongH7130 us that theseH428 evilsH7463 have comeH4672 upon us?’ 18But I will surelyH5641 hideH5641 My faceH6440 in that dayH3117 becauseH5921 of allH3605 the evilH7463 whichH834 they will doH6213, for they will turnH6437 to otherH312 godsH430.

19“NowH6258 therefore, 36writeH3789 thisH2088 songH7892 for yourselves, and teachH3925 it to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478; putH7760 it 37on their lipsH6310, soH4616 that thisH2088 songH7892 may be a witnessH5707 for Me against the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478. 2038For when I bringH935 them into the landH127 flowingH2100 with milkH2461 and honeyH1706, whichH834 I sworeH7650 to their fathersH1, and they have eatenH398 and are satisfiedH7646 and 39becomeH1878 40prosperousH1878, then they will turnH6437 to otherH312 godsH430 and serveH5647 them, and spurnH5006 Me and breakH6565 My covenantH1285. 21Then it shall comeH1961 about, 41whenH3588 manyH7227 evilsH7463 and troublesH6869 have comeH4672 upon them, that thisH2088 songH7892 will testifyH6030 beforeH6440 them as a witnessH5707 (for it shall not be forgottenH7911 from the 42lipsH6310 of their descendantsH2233); for 43I knowH3045 their intentH3336 whichH834 they are 44developingH6213 todayH3117, beforeH2962 I have broughtH935 them into the landH776 whichH834 I sworeH7650.” 2245So MosesH4872 wroteH3789 thisH2088 songH7892 the sameH1931 dayH3117, and taughtH3925 it to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478.

Joshua Is Commissioned

2346Then He commissionedH6680 JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, and saidH559, “47Be strongH2388 and courageousH553, for you shall bringH935 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 into the landH776 whichH834 I sworeH7650 to them, and 48I will be with you.”

24It cameH1961 about, when MosesH4872 finishedH3615 writingH3789 the wordsH1697 of thisH2088 lawH8451 in a bookH5612 untilH5704 they were completeH8552, 25that MosesH4872 commandedH6680 the LevitesH3881 49who carriedH5375 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LordH3068, sayingH559, 26“TakeH3947 thisH2088 bookH5612 of the lawH8451 and placeH7760 it besideH4480H6654 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LordH3068 your GodH430, that it may 50remainH1961 thereH8033 as a witnessH5707 against you. 27For I knowH3045 51your rebellionH4805 and 52your 53stubbornnessH7186H6203; beholdH2005, while I am stillH5750 aliveH2416 with you todayH3117, you have beenH1961 rebelliousH4784 againstH5973 the LordH3068; howH637 muchH637H3588 moreH637H3588, then, afterH310 my deathH4194? 28AssembleH6950 to me allH3605 the eldersH2205 of your tribesH7626 and your officersH7860, that I may speakH1696 theseH428 wordsH1697 in their hearingH241 and 54callH5749 the heavensH8064 and the earthH776 to witnessH5749 against them. 29For I knowH3045 that afterH310 my deathH4194 you will 55actH7843 corruptlyH7843 and turnH5493 from the wayH1870 whichH834 I have commandedH6680 you; and evilH7463 will befallH7122 you in the latterH319 daysH3117, for you will doH6213 that whichH7451 is evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068, provokingH3707 Him to angerH3707 with the workH4639 of your handsH3027.”

30Then MosesH4872 spokeH1696 in the hearingH241 of allH3605 the assemblyH6951 of IsraelH3478 the wordsH1697 of thisH2088 songH7892, untilH5704 they were completeH8552:
