Hosea 9
Darby Bible
1RejoiceH8055 not, IsraelH3478, exultingly, as the peoplesH5971; for thou hast gone a whoring from thy 1GodH430, thou hast lovedH157 harlot's hireH868 upon every corn-floor. 2The floorH1637 and the winepressH3342 shall not feedH7462 them, and the newH8492 wineH8492 shall fail her. 3They shall not dwellH3427 in Jehovah's landH776; but EphraimH669 shall returnH7725 to EgyptH4714, and in AssyriaH804 shall they eatH398 that which is uncleanH2931. 4They shall pourH5258 out no [offerings of] wineH3196 to Jehovah, neither shall their sacrificesH2077 be pleasing unto him: they shall be unto them as the breadH3899 of mourners; all that eatH398 thereof shall be defiledH2930: for their breadH3899 shall be for themselves; it shall not comeH935 into the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 5What will ye do in the dayH3117 of assembly, and in the dayH3117 of the feastH2282 of Jehovah? 6For behold, they are goneH1980 away because of destructionH7701: EgyptH4714 shall gatherH6908 them up, Moph shall buryH6912 them: their pleasant thingsH4261 of silverH3701, nettlesH7057 shall possessH3423 them; thornsH2336 shall be in their tentsH168. 7The daysH3117 of visitation are comeH935; the daysH3117 of recompence are comeH935: IsraelH3478 shall knowH3045 [it]: the prophetH5030 is a foolH191, the inspired manH376 is madH7696, because of the greatnessH7230 of thine iniquityH5771, and the greatH7227 enmity. 8Is EphraimH669 a watchmanH6822 with my 2GodH430? [nay] the prophetH5030 is a fowler's snareH6341 on all his waysH1870, enmity in the houseH1004 of his 3GodH430. 9They have deeply corruptedH7843 themselves as in the daysH3117 of GibeahH1390. He will rememberH2142 their iniquityH5771, he will visitH6485 their sinsH2403. 10I foundH4672 IsraelH3478 as grapes in the wildernessH4057; as first-ripe fruit on the fig-tree, I sawH7200 your fathersH1 at the beginning: they wentH935 to Baal-PeorH1187, and separated themselves unto that shameH1322, and becameH1961 abominationsH8251 like their loverH157. 11As for EphraimH669, their gloryH3519 shall flyH5774 away as a birdH5775, — no birthH3205, no pregnancy, no conceptionH2032! 12For even should they bringH1431 up their children, yet will I bereaveH7921 them, [that] not a manH120 [remain]: for woeH188 alsoH1571 to them when I shall have departedH5493 from them! 13EphraimH669, as I sawH7200 [him], was a TyreH6865 plantedH8362 in a beautiful place; but EphraimH669 shall bringH3318 forthH3318 his children to the slayer. 14GiveH5414 them, Jehovah — what wilt thou giveH5414? — giveH5414 them a miscarrying wombH7358 and dry breastsH7699. 15All their wickednessH7455 is in GilgalH1537; for there I hatedH8130 them: because of the wickednessH7455 of their doings, I will driveH1644 them out of my houseH1004, I will loveH160 them no more: all their princesH8269 are rebelliousH5637. 16EphraimH669 is smitten: their rootH8328 is driedH3001 up, they shall bearH3205 no fruitH6529; yea, though they should bringH3205 forthH3205, yet will I slay the beloved [fruitH6529] of their wombH990. 17My 4GodH430 hath rejectedH3988 them, because they hearkened not unto him; and they shall beH1961 wanderers among the nationsH1471.
