Hosea 10
Darby Bible
1IsraelH3478 is an unpruned vineH1612, he bringeth forth fruitH6529 unto himself: according to the abundanceH7230 of his fruitH6529 he hath multipliedH7235 altarsH4196; according to the goodness of his landH776 they have madeH3190 goodly statues. 2Their heartH3820 is dividedH2505; nowH6258 shall they be found guiltyH816: he will breakH6202 down their altarsH4196, he will destroyH7703 their statues. 3For nowH6258 they will sayH559, We have no kingH4428, for we fearedH3372 not Jehovah; and a kingH4428, what can he do for us? 4They speakH1696 [mere] wordsH1697, swearingH422 falsely in makingH3772 a covenantH1285; therefore shall judgmentH4941 spring up as hemlock in the furrowsH8525 of the fieldsH7704. 5The inhabitantsH7934 of SamariaH8111 shall fear because of the calf of Beth-aven; for the peopleH5971 thereof shall mournH56 over it, and the idolatrous priestsH3649 thereof shall tremble for it, for its gloryH3519, because it is departed from it. 6Yea, it shall be carried unto AssyriaH804 [as] a present for kingH4428 JarebH3377: EphraimH669 shall be seized with shameH954, and IsraelH3478 shall be ashamedH954 of his own counselH6098. 7As for SamariaH8111 her kingH4428 is cut off as chips upon the faceH6440 of the watersH4325. 8And the highH1116 placesH1116 of Aven, the sinH2403 of IsraelH3478, shall be destroyedH8045: the thornH6975 and the thistleH1863 shall comeH5927 up upon their altarsH4196; and they shall sayH559 to the mountainsH2022, CoverH3680 us! and to the hillsH1389, FallH5307 on us! 9From the daysH3117 of GibeahH1390 hast thou sinnedH2398, O IsraelH3478: there they stoodH5975: the battleH4421 in GibeahH1390 against the children of iniquity did not overtakeH5381 them. 10At my pleasure will I chastise them; and the peoplesH5971 shall be assembled against them, when they are boundH631 for their twoH8147 iniquities. 11And EphraimH669 is a trainedH3925 heiferH5697, that loveth to tread out [the corn]; I have passedH5674 over upon her fair neckH6676: I will make EphraimH669 to draw; JudahH3063 shall plough, JacobH3290 shall break his clods. 12SowH2232 to yourselves in righteousnessH6666, reapH7114 according to mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is timeH6256 to seekH1875 Jehovah, till he comeH935 and rain righteousnessH6666 upon you. 13Ye have ploughed wickednessH7562, reaped iniquity, eatenH398 the fruitH6529 of lies; for thou didst confide in thy wayH1870, in the multitudeH7230 of thy mightyH1368 menH1368. 14And a tumult shall ariseH6965 among thy peoplesH5971, and all thy fortressesH4013 shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth-arbel in the dayH3117 of battleH4421: the motherH517 was dashedH7376 in pieces with the children. 15So shall Bethel do unto you because of the wickednessH7451 of your wickednessH7451: at day-break shall the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 utterly be cut off.
