Hosea 13
Darby Bible
1When EphraimH669 spokeH1696, there was trembling; he exalted himself in IsraelH3478: but he trespassed through BaalH1168, and he diedH4191. 2And nowH6258 they sinH2398 more and more, and have madeH6213 them molten images of their silverH3701, idolsH6091 according to their own understandingH8394, all of it the workH4639 of the craftsmenH2796: they sayH559 of them, Let the menH120 that sacrificeH2076 kiss the calvesH5695. 3ThereforeH3651 they shall beH1961 as the morningH1242 cloudH6051, and as the earlyH7925 dewH2919 that passeth away, as the chaffH4671 driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing-floor, and as the smokeH6227 out of the lattice. 4Yet I [am] Jehovah thy 1GodH430 from the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and thou hast knownH3045 no 2GodH430 but me; and there is no saviour besides me. 5I knewH3045 thee in the wildernessH4057, in the landH776 of drought. 6According to their pastureH4830, they became full; they became full, and their heartH3820 was exaltedH7311: thereforeH3651 have they forgottenH7911 me. 7And I will beH1961 unto them as a lionH7826; as a leopardH5246 I will lurk for them by the wayH1870; 8I will meetH6298 them as a bearH1677 bereaved of her [whelps], and will rend the covering of their heartH3820, and there will I devourH398 them like a lionessH3833: the beast of the fieldH7704 shall tearH7167 them. 9It is thy destruction, O IsraelH3478, that [thou art] against me, against thy helpH5828. 10WhereH834 thenH645 is thy kingH4428, that he may saveH3467 thee in all thy citiesH5892? and thy judgesH8199 of whom thou saidst, GiveH5414 me a kingH4428 and princesH8269? — 11I gaveH5414 thee a kingH4428 in mine angerH639, and tookH3947 him awayH3947 in my wrathH5678. 12The iniquityH5771 of EphraimH669 is bound up; his sinH2403 is laid by in store. 13The pangs of a woman in travail shall comeH935 upon him: he is a sonH1121 not wiseH2450; for at the timeH6256 of the breaking forthH3205 of children, he was not there. 14I will ransomH6299 them from the power of SheolH7585. I will redeemH6299 them from deathH4194: whereH165, O deathH4194, are thy plagues? whereH165, O SheolH7585, is thy destruction? Repentance shall be hidH5641 from mine eyesH5869. 15Though he be fruitful among [his] brethren, an eastH6921 windH7307 shall comeH935, a windH7307 of Jehovah [that] cometh up from the wildernessH4057, and his springH4599 shall become dry, and his fountainH4726 shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasureH214 of all pleasant vesselsH3627. 16Samaria shall bear her guilt; for she hath rebelled against her 3God: they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
