Daniel 2
1And in the second yearH8141 of the reignH4438 of NebuchadnezzarH5019, NebuchadnezzarH5019 dreamedH2492 dreamsH2472, and his spiritH7307 wasH1961 troubledH6470, and his sleepH8142 went from him. 2And the kingH4428 commanded to callH7121 the scribes, and the magiciansH2748, and the sorcerersH3784, and the ChaldeansH3778, to shew the kingH4428 his dreamsH2472; and they cameH935 and stoodH5975 before the kingH4428. 3And the kingH4428 saidH559 unto them, I have dreamedH2492 a dreamH2472, and my spiritH7307 is troubledH6470 to knowH3045 the dreamH2472. 4And the ChaldeansH3778 spokeH1696 to the kingH4428 in AramaicH762, O kingH4428, liveH2418 for everH5957! tell thy servantsH5649 the dreamH2493, and we will shew the interpretationH6591. 5The kingH4430 answered and saidH560 to the ChaldeansH3779, The command is gone forth from me: If ye do not makeH3046 knownH3046 unto me the dreamH2493, and its interpretationH6591, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your housesH1005 shall be madeH3046 a dunghill. 6But if ye shew the dreamH2493 and its interpretationH6591, ye shall receiveH6902 of me giftsH4978 and rewards and greatH7690 honour; therefore shew me the dreamH2493 and its interpretationH6591. 7They answered the second time and saidH560, Let the kingH4430 tellH560 his servantsH5649 the dreamH2493, and we will shew the interpretationH6591. 8The kingH4430 answered and saidH560, I knowH3046 of a certainty that ye would gain timeH5732, because ye seeH2370 the wordH4406 is gone forth from me; 9but if ye do not makeH3046 knownH3046 unto me the dreamH2493, there is but oneH2298 decreeH1882 for you; for ye have prepared lying and corrupt wordsH4406 to speak before me, till the timeH5732 be changedH8133: therefore tellH560 me the dreamH2493, and I shall knowH3046 that ye can shew me its interpretationH6591. 10The ChaldeansH3779 answered before the kingH4430 and saidH560, There is not a manH606 upon the earth that can shew the king's matterH4406; therefore there is no kingH4430, however greatH7229 and powerful, that hath askedH7593 such a thing of any scribe, or magicianH2749, or ChaldeanH3779. 11For the thing that the kingH4430 demandeth is extraordinary, and there is none other that can shew it before the kingH4430, except the 1godsH426, whose dwellingH4070 is not with flesh. 12For this cause the kingH4430 was irritated and very wroth, and commanded to destroyH7 all the wiseH2445 men of BabylonH895. 13And the decreeH1882 went forth that the wiseH2445 men were to be slain; and they sought DanielH1841 and his companions to slay them. 14ThenH116 DanielH1841 answered with counsel and prudence to AriochH746 the chiefH7229 of the king's bodyguard, who had gone forth to slay the wiseH2445 men of BabylonH895: 15he answered and saidH560 to AriochH746 the king's captain, WhyH4101 is the decreeH1882 so rigorous from the kingH4430? ThenH116 AriochH746 madeH3046 the thing knownH3046 to DanielH1841. 16And DanielH1841 went in, and requested of the kingH4430 that he would giveH5415 him timeH2166, that he might shew the kingH4430 the interpretationH6591. 17ThenH116 DanielH1841 went to his houseH1005, and madeH3046 the thing knownH3046 to HananiahH2608, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions; 18that they would desire mercies of the 2GodH426 of the heavensH8065 concerningH5922 this secret; that DanielH1841 and his companions should not perish with the restH7606 of the wiseH2445 men of BabylonH895. 19ThenH116 was the secret revealedH1541 unto DanielH1841 in a nightH3916 visionH2376. ThenH116 DanielH1841 blessed the 3GodH426 of the heavensH8065. 20DanielH1841 answered and saidH560, Blessed be the nameH8036 of 4GodH426 for everH5957 and everH5957; For wisdomH2452 and might are his. 21And it is he that changeth timesH2166 and seasons; He deposeth kingsH4430, and setteth up kingsH4430; He giveth wisdomH2452 to the wiseH2445, And knowledge to them that knowH3046 understanding. 22It is he that revealeth the deep and secret things; He knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. 23I thank thee, and I praise thee, O 5GodH426 of my fathersH2, Who hast given me wisdomH2452 and might, And hast madeH3046 knownH3046 unto me already what we desired of thee; For thou hast madeH3046 knownH3046 unto us the king's matterH4406. 24Therefore DanielH1841 went in unto AriochH746, whom the kingH4430 had appointedH4483 to destroyH7 the wiseH2445 men of BabylonH895; he went and saidH560 thus unto him: DestroyH7 not the wiseH2445 men of BabylonH895; bringH5954 me in before the kingH4430, and I will shew unto the kingH4430 the interpretationH6591. 25ThenH116 AriochH746 broughtH5954 in DanielH1841 before the kingH4430 in hasteH927, and saidH560 thus unto him: I have foundH7912 a manH1400 of the sons of the captivity of JudahH3061 that will makeH3046 knownH3046 unto the kingH4430 the interpretationH6591. 26The kingH4430 answered and saidH560 unto DanielH1841, whose nameH8036 was BelteshazzarH1096, Art thou ableH3546 to makeH3046 knownH3046 unto me the dreamH2493 that I have seenH2370, and its interpretationH6591? 27DanielH1841 answered in the presence of the kingH4430 and saidH560, The secret that the kingH4430 hath demanded cannot the wiseH2445 men, the magiciansH2749, the scribes, the astrologers, shew unto the kingH4430; 28but there is a 6GodH426 in the heavensH8065, who revealeth secrets, and maketh knownH3046 to kingH4430 NebuchadnezzarH5020 what shall be at the end of daysH3118. Thy dreamH2493, and the visionsH2376 of thy headH7217 upon thy bedH4903 are these: 29— as for thee, O kingH4430, thy thoughtsH7476 arose upon thy bedH4903, what should come to pass hereafter; and he that revealeth secrets hath madeH3046 knownH3046 to thee what shall come to pass. 30And as for me, this secret is revealedH1541 to me, not by [any] wisdomH2452 that I have moreH4481 than any living, but to the intent that the interpretationH6591 should be madeH3046 knownH3046 to the kingH4430, and that thou mightest knowH3046 the thoughtsH7476 of thy heartH3825. 31Thou, O kingH4430, sawest, and behold, a greatH7229 imageH6755. This imageH6755 was mighty and its brightness excellent; it stoodH6966 before thee, and its appearanceH7299 was terrible. 32This image's headH7217 was of fine goldH1722, its breast and its arms of silverH3702, its belly and its thighs of brass, 33its legs of ironH6523, its feet part of ironH6523 and part of clayH2635. 34Thou sawest till a stoneH69 was cutH1505 out without handsH3028; and it smote the imageH6755 upon its feet of ironH6523 and clayH2635, and broke them to pieces. 35ThenH116 was the ironH6523, the clayH2635, the brass, the silverH3702, and the goldH1722 broken in pieces together, and they became like the chaff of the summer threshing-floors; and the wind carried them away, and no place was foundH7912 for them. And the stoneH69 that smote the imageH6755 became a greatH7229 mountain, and filledH4391 the whole earthH772. 36This is the dreamH2493; and we will tellH560 the interpretationH6591 of it before the kingH4430. 37Thou, O kingH4430, art a kingH4430 of kingsH4430, unto whom the 7GodH426 of the heavensH8065 hath given the kingdomH4437, the powerH2632, and the strength, and the glory; 38and wheresoever the children of menH606, the beastsH2423 of the fieldH1251, and the fowl of the heavensH8065 dwellH1753, he hath given them into thy handH3028, and hath made thee rulerH7981 over them all: thou art this headH7217 of goldH1722. 39And after thee shall ariseH6966 another kingdomH4437 inferior to thee; then another thirdH8523 kingdomH4437 of brass, which shall bear ruleH7981 over all the earthH772. 40And the fourthH7244 kingdomH4437 shall be strongH8624 as ironH6523: forasmuch as ironH6523 breaketh in pieces and subdueth everything, and as ironH6523 that breaketh all these, so shall it break in pieces and bruise. 41And whereas thou sawest the feet and toesH677, part of potter's clayH2635, and part of ironH6523, the kingdomH4437 shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the ironH6523, forasmuch as thou sawest the ironH6523 mixedH6151 with miry clayH2635. 42And [as] the toesH677 of the feet were part of ironH6523 and part of clayH2635, the kingdomH4437 shall be partly strongH8624 and partly fragile. 43And whereas thou sawest the ironH6523 mixedH6151 with miry clayH2635, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of menH606; but they shall not cleave one to another, even as ironH6523 doth not mingle with clayH2635. 44And in the daysH3118 of these kingsH4430 shall the 8GodH426 of the heavensH8065 setH6966 up a kingdomH4437 which shall never be destroyedH2255; and the sovereignty thereof shall not be leftH7662 to another peopleH5972: it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdomsH4437, but itself shall standH6966 for everH5957. 45Forasmuch as thou sawest that a stoneH69 was cutH1505 out of the mountain without handsH3028, and that it broke in pieces the ironH6523, the brass, the clayH2635, the silverH3702, and the goldH1722, — the greatH7229 9GodH426 hath madeH3046 knownH3046 to the kingH4430 what shall come to pass hereafter. And the dreamH2493 is certain, and the interpretationH6591 of it sure. 46ThenH116 kingH4430 NebuchadnezzarH5020 fellH5308 on his faceH600 and worshipped DanielH1841, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him. 47The kingH4430 answered DanielH1841 and saidH560, Of a truth it is that your 10GodH426 is the 11GodH426 of 12godsH426, and the LordH4756 of kingsH4430, and a revealer of secrets, because thou wast ableH3202 to revealH1541 this secret. 48ThenH116 the kingH4430 made DanielH1841 greatH7229, and gave him manyH7690 greatH7229 giftsH4978, and made him rulerH7981 over the whole provinceH4083 of BabylonH895, and chiefH7229 of the governors over all the wiseH2445 men of BabylonH895. 49And DanielH1841 requested of the kingH4430, and he appointedH4483 ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665 over the administrationH5673 of the provinceH4083 of BabylonH895. And DanielH1841 was in the gate of the kingH4430.
