Daniel 3
Darby Bible
1NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 made an imageH6755 of goldH1722, whose heightH7314 was sixtyH8361 cubitsH521, [and] its breadth sixH8353 cubitsH521; he setH6966 it up in the plain of Dura, in the provinceH4083 of BabylonH895. 2And NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 sent to gather together the satrapsH324, the prefectsH5460, and the governorsH6347, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the justices, and all the rulers of the provincesH4083, to comeH858 to the dedicationH2597 of the imageH6755 that NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 had setH6966 up. 3ThenH116 the satrapsH324, the prefectsH5460, and the governorsH6347, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the justices, and all the rulers of the provincesH4083, were gatheredH3673 together unto the dedicationH2597 of the imageH6755 that NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 had setH6966 up; and they stoodH6966 before the imageH6755 that NebuchadnezzarH5020 had setH6966 up. 4And the herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, [O] peoplesH5972, nationsH524, and languages, 5that at what timeH5732 ye hearH8086 the sound of the cornet, pipe, lute, sambuca, psaltery, bagpipe, and all kindsH2178 of music, ye fallH5308 downH5308 and worship the golden imageH6755 that NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 hath setH6966 up; 6and whosoever doth not fallH5308 downH5308 and worship shall that same hour be cast into the midstH1459 of a burning fiery furnaceH861. 7Therefore at that timeH2166 when all the peoplesH5972 heardH8086 the sound of the cornet, pipe, lute, sambuca, psaltery, and all kindsH2178 of music, all the peoplesH5972, the nationsH524, and the languages fellH5308 downH5308 [and] worshipped the golden imageH6755 that NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 had setH6966 up. 8Whereupon at that timeH2166 certain ChaldeansH3779 came near, and accused the JewsH3062. 9They spoke and saidH560 to the kingH4430 NebuchadnezzarH5020, O kingH4430, liveH2418 for everH5957! 10Thou, O kingH4430, hast madeH7761 a decreeH2942, that every manH606 that shall hearH8086 the sound of the cornet, pipe, lute, sambuca, psaltery, and bagpipe, and all kindsH2178 of music, shall fallH5308 downH5308 and worship the golden imageH6755; 11and [that] whosoever doth not fallH5308 downH5308 and worship, shall be cast into the midstH1459 of a burning fiery furnaceH861. 12There are certain JewsH3062 whom thou hast appointedH4483 over the administrationH5673 of the provinceH4083 of BabylonH895: ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665: these menH1400, O kingH4430, regard thee not; they serve not thy 1godsH426, nor worship the golden imageH6755 that thou hast setH6966 up. 13ThenH116 NebuchadnezzarH5020 in rage and fury commanded to bringH858 ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665. ThenH116 were these menH1400 broughtH858 before the kingH4430. 14NebuchadnezzarH5020 spoke and saidH560 unto them, Is it of purpose, ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665, that ye serve not my 2godH426, nor worship the golden imageH6755 that I have setH6966 up? 15NowH3705 if ye be ready at the timeH5732 that ye hearH8086 the sound of the cornet, pipe, lute, sambuca, psaltery, and bagpipe, and all kindsH2178 of music, to fallH5308 downH5308 and worship the imageH6755 that I have made, [well]: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast that same hour into the midstH1459 of a burning fiery furnaceH861: and who is the 3GodH426 that shall deliverH7804 you out of my handsH3028? 16ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665 answered and saidH560 to the kingH4430, O NebuchadnezzarH5020, we have no need to answer thee in this matter. 17If it be [so], our 4GodH426 whom we serve is ableH3202 to deliverH7804 us from the burning fiery furnaceH861, and he will deliverH7804 [us] out of thy handH3028, O kingH4430. 18But if not, be it knownH3046 unto thee, O kingH4430, that we will not serve thy 5godsH426, nor worship the golden imageH6755 that thou hast setH6966 up. 19ThenH116 was NebuchadnezzarH5020 full of fury, and the form of his visage was changedH8133 against ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665. He spoke, and commanded that they should heatH228 the furnaceH861 sevenH7655 times more than it was wont to be heatedH228. 20And he commanded the most mighty menH1400 that were in his armyH2429 to bind ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665, and cast them into the burning fiery furnaceH861. 21ThenH116 these menH1400 were bound in their hosen, their tunics, and their cloaks, and their garments, and were cast into the midstH1459 of the burning fiery furnaceH861. 22Forasmuch as the king's commandment was rigorous, and the furnaceH861 exceeding hot, the flame of the fireH5135 slew those menH1400 that had taken up ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665. 23And these threeH8532 menH1400, ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665, fellH5308 downH5308 bound into the midstH1459 of the burning fiery furnaceH861. 24ThenH116 NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 was astonied, and rose up in hasteH927; he spoke and saidH560 unto his counsellors, Did not we cast threeH8532 menH1400 bound into the midstH1459 of the fireH5135? They answered and saidH560 to the kingH4430, True, O kingH4430. 25He answered and saidH560, Lo, I seeH2370 fourH703 menH1400 loose, walkingH1981 in the midstH1459 of the fireH5135, and they have no hurt; and the appearanceH7299 of the fourthH7244 is like a sonH1247 of 6GodH426. 26ThenH116 NebuchadnezzarH5020 cameH858 near to the opening of the burning fiery furnaceH861; he spoke and saidH560, ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665, ye servantsH5649 of the MostH5943 HighH5943 7GodH426, comeH858 forth, and comeH858 [hither]. ThenH116 ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665 cameH858 forth from the midstH1459 of the fireH5135. 27And the satrapsH324, the prefectsH5460, and the governorsH6347, and the king's counsellors, being gatheredH3673 together, sawH2370 these menH1400, upon whose bodiesH1655 the fireH5135 had had no power, nor was the hairH8177 of their headH7217 singed, neither were their hosen changedH8133, nor had the smell of fireH5135 passed on them. 28NebuchadnezzarH5020 spoke and saidH560, Blessed be the 8GodH426 of ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665, who hath sent his angelH4398, and deliveredH7804 his servantsH5649 who trusted in him, and who changedH8133 the king's wordH4406, and yielded their bodiesH1655, that they might not serve nor worship any 9godH426, except their own 10GodH426! 29Therefore I make a decreeH2942, that in every peopleH5972, nationH524, and language, he who shall speak anything amiss against the 11GodH426 of ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665, shall be cut in pieces, and his houseH1005 shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other 12GodH426 that is ableH3202 to deliver after this sort. 30ThenH116 the kingH4430 promoted ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and Abed-negoH5665 in the provinceH4083 of BabylonH895.
