for out of the north מִצָּפ֛וֹן mi.tza.Fon H6828 the spoilers shall come יָבוֹא־ ya.Vo'- H935 against her , saith Jehovah . 49 As Babylon בָּבֶ֕ל ba.Vel H894 caused the slain חַֽלְלֵ֣י cha.Lei H2491 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Yis.ra.'El H3478 to fall H5307 , so at Babylon לְבָבֶ֥ל le.va.Vel H894 shall fall H5307 the slain חַֽלְלֵ֥י cha.Lei H2491 of all the earth הָאָֽרֶץ׃ ha.'A.retz H776 . 50 Ye that have escaped the sword מֵחֶ֔רֶב me.Che.rev H2719 , go הִלְכ֖וּ hil.Khu H1980 , stand תַּעֲמֹ֑דוּ ta.'a.Mo.du H5975 not still H5975 : remember זִכְר֤וּ zikh.Ru H2142 Jehovah from afar H7350 , and let Jerusalem וִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם vi.ru.sha.Lim H3389 come H1980 into your mind . 52 — Therefore לָכֵ֞ן la.Khen H3651 behold , days יָמִ֤ים ya.Mim H3117 come H935 , saith Jehovah , that I will punish H6485 her graven images ; and throughout her land אַרְצָ֖הּ 'ar.Tzah H776 the wounded חָלָֽל׃ cha.Lal H2491 shall groan יֶאֱנֹ֥ק ye.'e.Nok H602 . 53 Though Babylon בָבֶל֙ va.Vel H894 should mount up to the heavens הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם ha.sha.Ma.yim H8064 , and though she should fortify תְבַצֵּ֖ר te.va.Tzer H1219 the height מְר֣וֹם me.Rom H4791 of her strength עֻזָּ֑הּ 'u.Zah H5797 , yet from me shall spoilers come יָבֹ֧אוּ ya.Vo.'u H935 unto her , saith Jehovah . 54 The sound ק֥וֹל Kol H6963 of a cry זְעָקָ֖ה ze.'a.Kah H2201 [cometh] from Babylon מִבָּבֶ֑ל mi.ba.Vel H894 , and great גָּד֖וֹל ga.Dol H1419 destruction וְשֶׁ֥בֶר ve.She.ver H7667 from the land מֵאֶ֥רֶץ me.'E.retz H776 of the Chaldeans כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃ kas.Dim H3778 ; 55 for Jehovah spoileth Babylon בָּבֶ֔ל ba.Vel H894 , and he will destroy וְאִבַּ֥ד ve.'i.Bad H6 out of her the great גָּד֑וֹל ga.Dol H1419 voice H6963 ; and their waves roar וְהָמ֤וּ ve.ha.Mu H1993 like great H1419 waters כְּמַ֣יִם ke.Ma.yim H4325 , the noise of their voice H6963 resoundeth. 56 For the spoiler is come בָ֨א va' H935 against her , against Babylon בָּבֶל֙ ba.Vel H894 , and her mighty H1368 men H1368 are taken H3920 ; their bows קַשְּׁתוֹתָ֑ם ka.she.to.Tam H7198 are broken in pieces; for Jehovah , the God אֵ֧ל 'el H410 of recompences, will certainly requite. 57 And I will make וְ֠הִשְׁכַּרְתִּי Ve.hish.kar.ti H7937 drunk H7937 her princes H8269 , and her wise וַחֲכָמֶ֜יהָ va.cha.kha.Mei.ha H2450 men H1368 , her governors פַּחוֹתֶ֤יהָ pa.cho.Tei.ha H6346 , and her rulers , and her mighty H1368 men H1368 ; and they shall sleep שְׁנַת־ she.nat- H8142 a perpetual sleep H8142 , and not wake , saith the King הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ ha.Me.lekh H4428 , whose name שְׁמֽוֹ׃ ס she.Mo H8034 is Jehovah of hosts צְבָא֖וֹת tze.va.'ot H6635 . 58 Thus כֹּֽה־ koh- H3541 saith Jehovah of hosts צְבָא֗וֹת tze.va.'ot H6635 : The broad הָֽרְחָבָה֙ ha.re.cha.Vah H7342 walls חֹ֠מוֹת Cho.mot H2346 of Babylon בָּבֶ֤ל ba.Vel H894 shall be utterly laid bare, and her high הַגְּבֹהִ֖ים ha.ge.vo.Him H1364 gates H8179 shall be burned H3341 with fire בָּאֵ֣שׁ ba.'Esh H784 ; so that the peoples H5971 will have laboured in vain, and the nations for the fire אֵ֖שׁ 'esh H784 : and they shall be weary H3021 .
