Deuteronomy 23
1No manH3808 with crushedH6481H1795 or severedH3772 genitalsH8212 may enterH935 the assemblyH6951 of the LORDH3068.
2NoH3808 one of illegitimate birthH4464 may enterH935 the assemblyH6951 of the LORDH3068, nor may any of his descendantsH3808, evenH1571 to the tenthH6224 generationH1755.
3NoH3808 AmmoniteH5984 or MoabiteH4125 or any of their descendantsH3808 may enterH935 the assemblyH6951 of the LORDH3068, evenH1571 to the tenthH6224 generationH1755. 4ForH5921H1697 they did notH3808 meetH6923 you with foodH3899 and waterH4325 on your wayH1870 out ofH3318 EgyptH4714, and they hiredH7936 BalaamH1109 sonH1121 of BeorH1160 from PethorH6604 in Aram-naharaimH7631 to curse youH7043. 5Yet the LORDH3068 your GodH430 wouldH14 notH3808 listenH8085 toH413 BalaamH1109, and the LORDH3068 your GodH430 turnedH2015 the curseH7045 into a blessingH1293 for you, becauseH3588 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 loves youH157. 6You are not toH3808 seekH1875 peaceH7965 or prosperity from themH2896 as long as you liveH3605H3117H5769.
7Do notH3808 despiseH8581 an EdomiteH130, forH3588 heH1931 is your brotherH251. Do notH3808 despiseH8581 an EgyptianH4713, becauseH3588 you livedH1961 as a foreignerH1616 in his landH776. 8The thirdH7992 generationH1755 of childrenH1121 bornH3205 to them may enterH935 the assemblyH6951 of the LORDH3068.
Uncleanness in the Camp
(Leviticus 15:1–12)
9WhenH3588 you are encampedH3318H4264 againstH5921 your enemiesH341, then you shall keep yourselfH8104 from everyH3605 wickedH7451 thingH1697. 10IfH3588 any manH376 among you becomesH1961 uncleanH3808H2889 because of a nocturnalH3915 emissionH7137, he must leaveH3318 the campH4264 and stayH935 outsideH2351H413. 11When eveningH6153 approachesH6437, he must washH7364 with waterH4325, and when the sunH8121 setsH935 he may returnH935 toH413H8432 the campH4264.
12You must haveH1961 a placeH3027 outsideH2351 the campH4264 to goH3318 and relieve yourselfH8033H2351. 13And you must haveH1961 a digging toolH3489 inH5921 your equipmentH240 so thatH1961 when you relieve yourselfH3427H2351 you can dig a holeH2658 and cover upH3680 your excrementH6627.
14ForH3588 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 walksH1980 throughoutH7130 your campH4264 to protect youH5337 and deliverH5414 your enemiesH341 to youH6440. Your campH4264 must beH1961 holyH6918, lestH3808 He seeH7200 anythingH1697 uncleanH6172 among you and turn awayH7725 from youH310.
Miscellaneous Laws
15Do notH3808 returnH5462 a slaveH5650 toH413 his masterH113 if he has taken refugeH5337H5973H113 with youH413. 16Let him liveH3427 among youH7130 whereverH4725 he choosesH977, inH259 the townH8179 of his pleasingH2896. Do notH3808 oppress himH3238.
17NoH3808 daughterH1323 orH3808 sonH1121 of IsraelH3478 is to beH1961H6948 a shrine prostituteH6945. 18You must notH3808 bringH935 the wagesH868 of a prostitute, whether femaleH2181 or maleH3611,2 into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430 to fulfill anyH3605 vowH5088, becauseH3588 bothH8147 are detestableH8441 to the LORDH3068 your GodH430H1571.
19Do notH3808 chargeH5391 your brotherH251 interestH5392 on moneyH3701H5392, foodH400H5392, or anyH3605 otherH1697 type of loanH5391. 20You may charge a foreignerH5237 interestH5391, but notH3808 your brotherH251, so thatH4616 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 may bless youH1288 in everythingH3605 to which you putH4916 your handH3027 inH5921 the landH776 thatH834 youH859 are enteringH935H8033 to possessH3423.
21IfH3588 you makeH5087 a vowH5088 to the LORDH3068 your GodH430, do notH3808 be slow to keep itH309H7999, becauseH3588 HeH3068H430 will surely require itH1875 of youH5973, and you will beH1961 guilty of sinH2399. 22But ifH3588 you refrainH2308 from making a vowH5087, you will notH3808 beH1961 guilty of sinH2399. 23Be carefulH8104 to follow throughH6213 on what comesH4161 from your lipsH8193, becauseH834 you have freelyH5071 vowedH5087 to the LORDH3068 your GodH430 with your own mouthH1696H6310.
24WhenH3588 you enterH935 your neighbor’sH7453 vineyardH3754, you may eatH398 yourH5315 fill ofH7648 grapesH6025, but you must notH3808 putH5414 any inH413 your basketH3627.
25WhenH3588 you enterH935 your neighbor’sH7453 grainfieldH7054, you may pluckH6998 the heads of grainH4425 with your handH3027, but you must notH3808 putH5130 a sickleH2770 toH5921 your neighbor’sH7453 grainH7054.
