Deuteronomy 10
(Exodus 34:1–9)
1At thatH1931 timeH6256 the LORDH3068 saidH559 to meH413, “Chisel outH6458 twoH8147 stoneH68 tabletsH3871 like the originalsH7223, come upH5927 to MeH413 on the mountainH2022, and makeH6213 an arkH727 of woodH6086. 2And I will writeH3789 onH5921 the tabletsH3871 the wordsH1697 thatH834 wereH1961 onH5921 the firstH7223 tabletsH3871, whichH834 you brokeH7665; and you are to place themH7760 in the arkH727.”
3So I madeH6213 an arkH727 of acaciaH7848 woodH6086, chiseled outH6458 twoH8147 stoneH68 tabletsH3871 like the originalsH7223, and went upH5927 the mountainH2022 with the twoH8147 tabletsH3871 in my handsH3027. 4And the LORD wroteH3789 onH5921 the tabletsH3871 what had been writtenH4385 previouslyH7223, the TenH6235 CommandmentsH16971 thatH834 HeH3068 had spokenH1696 toH413 you on the mountainH2022 out ofH8432 the fireH784 on the dayH3117 of the assemblyH6951. The LORDH3068 gave themH5414 to meH413, 5and I went backH6437 downH3381H4480 the mountainH2022 and placedH7760 the tabletsH3871 in the arkH727 I had madeH6213, asH834 the LORDH3068 had commanded meH6680; and thereH8033 they have remainedH1961.
6The IsraelitesH1121H3478 traveledH5265 fromH881 Beeroth Bene-jaakanH11422 to MoserahH4149, whereH8033 AaronH175 diedH4191 and was buriedH6912, and EleazarH499 his sonH1121 succeeded him as priestH3547H8478. 7FromH4480 thereH8033 they traveledH5265 to GudgodahH1412, and from GudgodahH1412 to JotbathahH3193, a landH776 with streamsH5158 of waterH4325.
8At thatH1931 timeH6256 the LORDH3068 set apartH914 the tribeH7626 of LeviH3878 to carryH5375 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068, to standH5975 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 to serve HimH8334, and to pronounce blessingsH1288 in His nameH8034, as they do to this dayH5704H3117H2088. 9That is whyH5921H3651 LeviH3881 hasH1961 noH3808 portionH2506 or inheritanceH5159 amongH5973 his brothersH251; the LORDH3068H1931 is his inheritanceH5159, asH834 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 promisedH1696 him.
10IH595 stayedH5975 on the mountainH2022 fortyH705 daysH3117 and fortyH705 nightsH3915, like the firstH7223 timeH3117, and thatH1931 timeH6471 the LORDH3068 againH1571 listenedH8085 to meH413 and agreedH14 notH3808 to destroy youH7843.
11Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 to meH413, “Get upH6965. ContinueH1980 your journeyH4550 ahead ofH6440 the peopleH5971, that they may enterH935 and possessH3423 the landH776 thatH834 I sworeH7650 to their fathersH1 to give themH5414.”
A Call to Obedience
(Joshua 24:14–28)
12And nowH6258, O IsraelH3478, whatH4100 does the LORDH3068 your GodH430 askH7592 of youH5973 butH3588H518 to fearH3372 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 by walkingH1980 in allH3605 His waysH1870, to love HimH157, to serveH5647 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 with allH3605 your heartH3824 and with allH3605 your soulH5315, 13and to keepH8104 the commandmentsH4687 andH853 statutesH2708 of the LORDH3068 thatH834 IH595 am giving youH6680 this dayH3117 for your own goodH2896?
14BeholdH2005, to the LORDH3068 your GodH430 belong the heavensH8064, even the highestH8064 heavensH8064, and the earthH776 and everythingH3605 in it. 15YetH7535 the LORDH3068 has set His affectionH2836 on your fathersH1 and lovedH157 themH853. And He has chosen youH977, their descendantsH2233 afterH310 them, above allH3605 the peoplesH5971, even to this dayH3117H2088.
16CircumciseH4135 your hearts, thereforeH3824, and stiffenH7185 your necksH6203 noH3808 moreH5750. 17ForH3588 the LORDH3068 your GodH430H1931 is GodH430 of godsH430 and LordH113 of lordsH113, the greatH1419, mightyH1368, and awesomeH3372 GodH410, showing noH3808 partialityH5375H6440 and acceptingH3947 noH3808 bribeH7810. 18He executesH6213 justiceH4941 for the fatherlessH3490 and widowH490, and He lovesH157 the foreignerH1616, givingH5414 him foodH3899 and clothingH8071. 19So you also must loveH157 the foreignerH1616, sinceH3588 you yourselves wereH1961 foreignersH1616 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
You are to fearH3372 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 and serveH5647 Him. Hold fast to HimH1692 and take your oathsH7650 in His nameH8034. 21HeH1931 is your praiseH8416 and HeH1931 is your GodH430, whoH834 has doneH6213 for youH854 theseH428 greatH1419 and awesome wondersH3372 thatH834 your eyesH5869 have seenH7200. 22Your fathersH1 went downH3381 to EgyptH4714, seventyH7657 in allH5315, and nowH6258 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 has madeH7760 you as numerousH7230 as the starsH3556 in the skyH8064.
