Deuteronomy 29

TheseH428 are the wordsH1697 of the covenantH1285 thatH834 the LORDH3068 commandedH6680 MosesH4872 to makeH3772 withH854 the IsraelitesH1121H3478 in the landH776 of MoabH4124, in addition toH905 the covenantH1285 He had madeH3772 with themH854 at HorebH2722.1

MosesH4872 summonedH7121 allH3605 IsraelH3478 and proclaimedH559H413 to themH413, “YouH859 have seenH7200 with your own eyesH5869 everythingH3605 the LORDH3068 didH6213 in EgyptH4714 to PharaohH6547, to allH3605 his officialsH5650, and to allH3605 his landH776. 3You sawH7200 with your own eyesH5869 the greatH1419 trialsH4531, and thoseH1992 miraculousH1419 signsH226 and wondersH4159. 4Yet toH5704 thisH2088 dayH3117 the LORDH3068 has notH3808 givenH5414 you a mindH3820 to understandH3045, eyesH5869 to seeH7200, or earsH241 to hearH8085.

For fortyH705 yearsH8141 I ledH1980 youH853 in the wildernessH4057,yet your clothesH8008 and sandalsH5275H3808H1086H5921H7272 did notH3808 wear outH1086.6You ateH398 noH3808 breadH3899 and drankH8354 no wineH3196 or strong drinkH7941H3808,so thatH4616 you might knowH3045 thatH3588 IH589 am the LORDH3068 your GodH430.

When you reachedH935H413 thisH2088 placeH4725, SihonH5511 kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809 and OgH5747 kingH4428 of BashanH1316 came outH3318 against usH7122 in battleH4421, but we defeated themH5221. 8We tookH3947 their landH776 and gaveH5414 it as an inheritanceH5159 to the ReubenitesH7206, the GaditesH1425, and the half-tribeH2677H7626 of ManassehH4520. 9So keepH8104 and followH6213 the wordsH1697 of thisH2063 covenantH1285, thatH4616 you may prosperH7919 in allH3605 you doH6213.

AllH3605 of youH859 are standingH5324 todayH3117 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 your GodH430—you leadersH7218 of tribesH7626,2 eldersH2205, officialsH7860, and allH3605 the menH376 of IsraelH3478, 11your childrenH2945 and wivesH802, and the foreignersH1616 inH7130 your campsH4264 who cutH2404 your woodH6086H5704 and drawH7579 your waterH4325— 12so that you may enterH5674 into the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430, whichH834 HeH3068H430 is makingH3772 with you todayH5973H3117, and into His oathH423, 13and so thatH4616 He may establishH6965 youH853 todayH3117 as His peopleH5971, and HeH1931 may beH1961 your GodH430 asH834 He promisedH1696 you and asH834 He sworeH7650 to your fathersH1, to AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327, and JacobH3290.

IH595 am makingH3772 thisH2063 covenantH1285 and thisH2063 oathH423 notH3808 onlyH905 with youH854, 15butH3588 also withH854 those whoH834H3426 are standingH5975 hereH6311 with usH5973 todayH3117 in the presenceH6440 of the LORDH3068 our GodH430, as well asH854 with those whoH834 are notH369 here todayH6311H5973H3117.

ForH3588 you yourselvesH859 knowH3045 howH834 we livedH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 andH853 howH834 we passedH5674 throughH7130 the nationsH1471 on the wayH5674 here. 17You sawH7200 the abominationsH8251 and idolsH1544 among themH5973 made of woodH6086 and stoneH68, of silverH3701 and goldH2091.

Make sure there isH3426 noH6435 manH376 or womanH802H176, clanH4940H176 orH176 tribeH7626 among you todayH3117 whoseH834 heartH3824 turns awayH6437 fromH5973 the LORDH3068 our GodH430 to goH1980 and worshipH5647 the godsH430 of thoseH1992 nationsH1471. Make sure there isH3426 noH6435 rootH8328 among you that bearsH6509 such poisonousH7219 and bitter fruitH3939,3 19because when such a person hearsH8085 the wordsH1697 of thisH2063 oathH423,4 he invokes a blessingH1288 on himselfH3824, sayingH559, ‘I will haveH1961 peaceH7965, even thoughH3588 I walkH1980H4616 in the stubbornnessH8307 of my own heartH3820.’

This will bring disasterH5595 on the wateredH7302 land as well asH854 the dryH6771. 20The LORDH3068 will neverH3808 be willingH14 to forgiveH5545 him. InsteadH3588H227, His angerH639 and jealousyH7068 will burnH6225 against thatH1931 manH376, and everyH3605 curseH423 writtenH3789 in thisH2088 bookH5612 will fallH7257 upon him. The LORDH3068 will blot outH4229 his nameH8034 from underH8478 heavenH8064 21and single him outH914H3068 from allH3605 the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478 for disasterH7451, according to allH3605 the cursesH423 of the covenantH1285 writtenH3789 in thisH2088 BookH5612 of the LawH8451.

Then the generationH1755 to comeH314—your sonsH1121 whoH834 followH6965 youH310 and the foreignerH5237 whoH834 comesH935 from a distantH7350 landH776—will seeH7200 the plaguesH4347 of the landH776H1931 and the sicknessesH8463 the LORDH3068 has inflictedH2470 on it. 23AllH3605 its soilH776 will be a burning wasteH8316 of sulfurH1614 and saltH4417, unsownH3808H2232 and unproductiveH6779H3808, with noH3808 plantH6212 growingH5927 on itH3605, just like the destructionH4114 of SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017, AdmahH126 and ZeboiimH6636, whichH834 the LORDH3068 overthrewH2015 in His fierce angerH639H2534.

So allH3605 the nationsH1471 will askH559, ‘WhyH5921H4100 has the LORDH3068 doneH6213 such a thingH3602 to thisH2063 landH776? WhyH4100 thisH2088 greatH1419 outburstH2750 of angerH639?’

And the people will answerH559, ‘It is becauseH5921 they abandonedH5800 the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of their fathersH1, whichH834 He madeH3772 with themH5973 when He broughtH3318 themH853 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 26They wentH1980 and servedH5647 otherH312 godsH430, and they worshipedH7812 godsH430 they had notH3808 knownH3045—gods that the LORD had notH3808 givenH2505 to them. 27Therefore the angerH639 of the LORDH3068 burnedH2734 against thisH1931 landH776, and He broughtH935 upon itH5921 everyH3605 curseH7045 writtenH3789 in thisH2088 bookH5612. 28The LORDH3068 uprooted themH5428 fromH5921 their landH127 in His angerH639, rageH2534, and greatH1419 wrathH7110, and He cast themH7993 intoH413 anotherH312 landH776, where they are todayH3117H2088.’

The secretH5641 things belong to the LORDH3068 our GodH430, but the things revealedH1540 belong to us and to our childrenH1121 foreverH5704H5769, so that we may followH6213 allH3605 the wordsH1697 of thisH2063 lawH8451.
