Leviticus 11
1And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872 and to AaronH175, sayingH559 unto them, 2SpeakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, These are the living things which ye may eatH398 among all the beasts that are on the earthH776. 3Whatsoever parteth the hoofH6541, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cudH1625, among the beasts, that may ye eatH398. 4NeverthelessH389 these shall ye not eatH398 of them that chew the cudH1625, or of them that part the hoofH6541: the camelH1581, because he cheweth the cudH1625 but parteth not the hoofH6541, he is uncleanH2931 unto you. 5And the coney, because he cheweth the cudH1625 but parteth not the hoofH6541, he is uncleanH2931 unto you. 6And the hareH768, because she cheweth the cudH1625 but parteth not the hoofH6541, she is uncleanH2931 unto you. 7And the swine, because he parteth the hoofH6541, and is clovenfooted, but cheweth not the cudH1625, he is uncleanH2931 unto you. 8Of their fleshH1320 ye shall not eatH398, and their carcassesH5038 ye shall not touchH5060; they are uncleanH2931 unto you.
9These may ye eatH398 of all that are in the watersH4325: whatsoever hath finsH5579 and scalesH7193 in the watersH4325, in the seasH3220, and in the rivers, that may ye eatH398. 10And all that have not finsH5579 and scalesH7193 in the seasH3220, and in the rivers, of all that move in the watersH4325, and of all the living creaturesH5315 that are in the watersH4325, they are an abomination unto you, 11and they shall beH1961 an abomination unto you; ye shall not eatH398 of their fleshH1320, and their carcassesH5038 ye shall have in abomination. 12Whatsoever hath no finsH5579 nor scalesH7193 in the watersH4325, that is an abomination unto you.
13And these ye shall have in abomination among the birdsH5775; they shall not be eatenH398, they are an abomination: the eagleH5404, and the gier-eagle, and the ospray, 14and the kite, and the falcon after its kindH4327, 15every ravenH6158 after its kindH4327, 16and the ostrichH3284, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew, and the hawk after its kindH4327, 17and the little owlH3244, and the cormorantH7994, and the greatH3244 owlH3244, 18and the horned owlH8580, and the pelican, and the vultureH7360, 19and the storkH2624, the heronH601 after its kindH4327, and the hoopoeH1744, and the batH5847.
20All wingedH5775 creeping things that goH1980 upon all foursH702 are an abomination unto you. 21Yet these may ye eatH398 of all wingedH5775 creeping things that goH1980 upon all foursH702, which have legsH3767 above their feetH7272, wherewith to leap upon the earthH776; 22even these of them ye may eatH398: the locustH697 after its kindH4327, and the bald locustH697 after its kindH4327, and the cricket after its kindH4327, and the grasshopperH2284 after its kindH4327. 23But all wingedH5775 creeping things, which have fourH702 feetH7272, are an abomination unto you.
24And by these ye shall becomeH2930 uncleanH2930: whosoever toucheth the carcassH5038 of them shall be uncleanH2930 until the even; 25and whosoever beareth aught of the carcassH5038 of them shall washH3526 his clothesH899, and be uncleanH2930 until the even. 26Every beast which parteth the hoofH6541, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cudH1625, is uncleanH2931 unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be uncleanH2931. 27And whatsoever goeth upon its paws, among all beasts that goH1980 on all foursH702, they are uncleanH2931 unto you: whoso toucheth their carcassH5038 shall be uncleanH2931 until the even. 28And he that beareth the carcassH5038 of them shall washH3526 his clothesH899, and be uncleanH2931 until the even: they are uncleanH2931 unto you.
29And these are they which are uncleanH2931 unto you among the creeping thingsH8318 that creep upon the earthH776: the weasel, and the mouseH5909, and the great lizard after its kindH4327, 30and the gecko, and the land-crocodile, and the lizard, and the sand-lizard, and the chameleon. 31These are they which are uncleanH2931 to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touchH5060 them, when they are dead, shall be uncleanH2931 until the even. 32And upon whatsoever any of them, whenH834 they are dead, doth fallH5307, it shall be uncleanH2930; whether it be any vesselH3627 of woodH6086, or raiment, or skinH5785, or sackH8242, whatsoever vesselH3627 it be, wherewith any workH4399 is done, it must be put into waterH4325, and it shall be uncleanH2930 until the even; then shall it be cleanH2891. 33And every earthen vesselH3627, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be uncleanH2930, and it ye shall breakH7665. 34All foodH400 therein which may be eatenH398, that on which waterH4325 cometh, shall be uncleanH2930; and all drinkH8354 that may be drunkH8354 in every such vesselH3627 shall be uncleanH2930. 35And every thing whereupon any part of their carcassH5038 falleth shall beH1961 uncleanH2931; whether ovenH8574, or range for pots, it shall beH1961 brokenH5422 in pieces: they are uncleanH2931, and shall beH1961 uncleanH2931 unto you. 36NeverthelessH389 a fountain or a pitH953 wherein isH1961 a gathering of waterH4325 shall beH1961 cleanH2889: but that which toucheth their carcassH5038 shall beH1961 uncleanH2930. 37And if aught of their carcassH5038 fallH5307 upon any sowing seedH2233 which is to be sownH2232, it is cleanH2889. 38But if waterH4325 be putH5414 upon the seedH2233, and aught of their carcassH5038 fallH5307 thereon, it is uncleanH2931 unto you.
39And if any beast, of which ye may eat, dieH4191; he that toucheth the carcassH5038 thereof shall be uncleanH2930 until the even. 40And he that eateth of the carcassH5038 of it shall washH3526 his clothesH899, and be uncleanH2930 until the even: he also that beareth the carcassH5038 of it shall washH3526 his clothesH899, and be uncleanH2930 until the even.
41And every creeping thingH8318 that creepeth upon the earthH776 is an abomination; it shall not be eatenH398. 42Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all foursH702, or whatsoever hath manyH7235 feetH7272, even all creeping things that creep upon the earthH776, them ye shall not eatH398; for they are an abomination. 43Ye shall not makeH2930 yourselves abominable with any creeping thingH8318 that creepeth, neither shall ye makeH2930 yourselves uncleanH2930 with them, that ye should be defiledH2930 thereby. 44For I am Jehovah your GodH430: sanctifyH6942 yourselves therefore, and beH1961 ye holyH6918; for I am holyH6918: neither shall ye defileH2930 yourselves with any manner of creeping thingH8318 that moveth upon the earthH776. 45For I am Jehovah that broughtH5927 you up out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, to beH1961 your GodH430: ye shall therefore beH1961 holyH6918, for I am holyH6918.
46This is the lawH8451 of the beast, and of the birdH5775, and of every living creatureH5315 that moveth in the watersH4325, and of every creatureH5315 that creepeth upon the earthH776; 47to make a distinctionH914 between the uncleanH2931 and the cleanH2889, and between the living thingH2931 that may be eatenH398 and the living thingH2931 that may not be eatenH398.
